The service from eTrailer and the price is always the best around. This is the fifth hitch I have ordered from them and it has always been a great experience. The only issue I have had is that two of the hitches got dropped in shipping and bent. Unfortunately you can't tell it until the bolt holes don't line up under the car. In both cases I was able to simply use a floor jack to spread the ends back the 1/4 inch needed, but it just adds some annoyance. I love eTrailer prices and their service!

Super easy to install and did it in about 45 mins without lifting the vehicle. Don't recommend that but show's you how simple both the hitch design and the Prius (2015) design is. Instructions provided is simple to follow and video links on the website helped.

One year later and I'm very happy with this. I brought it to [a shop] and it was installed within a couple hours Works great. Shipping was fast and easy. I bought a 2nd hitch later in the year for our other vehicle from etrailer.com, since it was so easy the first time around.

I bought this hitch after watching the online videos by etrailer detailing the installation. They make it look a lot easier to install than my experience, but i was not using a lift and had never done it before. The price on this hitch was very good and it was shipped very quickly. It beat the tools that I ordered from another online retailer to do the install, in fact. The packaging was good as well, and protected the hitch. I included a picture of my installation, which admittedly does not show very much, but its a win for me. The hardest part of installation was dealing with the exhaust bracket. I plan on purchasing a bike rack and a cargo rack in the near future, maybe even a small trailer.

Comments
After a year there has been absolutely no problems with the hitch. My plans of cargo racks and trailers were derailed due to the crazy year 2020, but I did purchase an Allen Sports 2-Bike Hitch Rack. The hitch holds the very heavy bike rack heavier loaded very securely with little to no wobble just using the locking hitch pin I also bought. I have no complaints about the hitch.

Watch the whole installation video first, that helps a lot! You will need an extension on your socket wrench to get at the bolts, so have one handy. Tin ships to cut and peel back the heat shield above the exhaust pipe are also good to have. It took me about an hour and a half to do by myself, an extra set of hands could have shortened that by 20 - 30 minutes. Solid hitch, looks great on the car (not too obtrusive), I am very happy!

UPDATE: 1 year later and the hitch is holding up well! Several hundred miles on it, it is just as stable and nice looking as the day I installed it. I am a VERY happy mountain biker!

Love it! This trailer hitch allows an upright bike rack to attach, with the addition of an adapter, to our hatchback style Prius. It is much sturdier than our old bike rack that leaned against the hatch window. The trailer hitch/bike rack combo allows us to get into the hatch without removing the rack. We travelled across Florida and back, 300 miles, with no problems. Your website was very helpful in determining the proper hitch and installation was easy. Thank you for a great product at a good price.

First the etrailer Experience. It was great. The order was processed same day and I received the hitch in 2 days. It was well packaged and the company communicated status, so a great experience. Since receipt they followed up as well, also great. The hitch is for my 2015 Prius. I installed it today. The instructions and videos were very helpful and it was done in about 30 minutes. The fit was spot on and it looks good. I am planning to use it for a bike rack. So, I am very pleased with etrailer and the Curt Hitch (1 1/4"). Thank you etrailer!

I installed it in 15 minutes with good video and instructions that are provided. Mounting tabs lined up perfectly to OEM holes using their upgraded bolts and washers. Received it in 3 days after they sent me shipping confirmation and tracking number. They should tape foam on the mounting tabs to prevent damage and puncturing through the box. I like how it tucks up and hardly noticeable.

Sundeep I did it at work in the parking lot, I use the box to set the hitch on then pushed it under the rear and held it up with one arm while the other was threading in their supplied bolts.

I purchase two different products and installed both, back to back. I did not use a jack or a lift, so it took about 45 minutes to finesse this one into/onto my Toyota Prius. I needed a helper (wife) which made it much easier. This is for a bike rack. Ordered Friday and delivered Monday, fast, fast. Thank you.

Such a easy install it took me only 20mins from the ground I did back both rear wheels on a bricks to give me more room underneath to install the hitch I recommend lubricant on bolts and muffler hanger, I didn’t have a breaker bar so I used a wheel lug t bar and used the 3/4 side to just loosen it then came back with 19mm ratchet and loosen and tightened it all up and torqued to spec , It’s really simple I watched the curt video install on you tube once and understood it . Im glad I chose the Curt because it was so simple to install great product I recommend buying from etrailer vs eleswhere online...my receiver hitch was delivered well packed with no problems I’ve heard complaints from other websites that delivery was received damaged or bent so the bold won’t line up . Do yourself a solid and go to etrailer you won’t regret it.

I’m super excited to use the hitch I just got. The installation went fairly smooth with a big help from the video. It took less than an hour for the 2 guys who were helping me. I’m not sure I could have done it alone. The hardest part seemed like attaching the hitch on the passenger side because of the exhaust. The spec for this product says to torque it to 86 lbs. I hope that is enough to carry the load it is manufactured to claim. The hitch looks great and hangs as it should but I hope it’s not to low since I am already scraping the bottom of my car on shitty Bay Area roads. I like how it doesn’t stick out past the bumper much at all so I won’t knock my shins.

Great product--easy to install, did it myself in about an hour and a half. Keep in mind that included getting the car jacked up, the box open, the car ready and the exhaust moved enough to access the bolts that needed removing. The time also includes cleaning up afterward, cutting up the box to recycle it, etc. Simple, straightforward process. If you need help see the [online] videos.

I have the Draw Tite hitch on my Prius and this Curt hitch on my wife's Prius. This (Curt) hitch is much more useful because it can be used with all 1-1/4" bike racks. The Draw Tite hitch has a little stopper inside the hitch that prevents its use with some bike racks. This is the hitch that you want!

Just installed, pretty similar experience to most here, took about 45 mins, on there solid as a rock. Ready for a cargo carrier and then a bike rack. A few tips for those less mechanically inclined (like myself) that I learned. 19mm and 3/4 are the same...or at least close enough for this job. The instructions called for a 17mm as well, pretty sure I did this correctly and never saw where the 17mm came into play. Also, get stretched out because putting 86lbs of torque on these bolts is gettin after it!

One of the mounting holes was off and needed to be filed to accept the bolt to mount. Otherwise a nice hitch but could use better quality control.

Have not used it yet in terms of installing bike rack into hitch. Curious how hitch finish will last through snow and salted roads of Mn over lifetime of usage; other brands I've used have not lasted and start rusting after 4-5 years. In terms of hitch installation it was fairly easy but needed help of friend/2nd pair of hands, and especially to get the 80+ ft/lbs needed - hard to do under the car by oneself. Some of the instruction could've been clearer or just required me to read more carefully as we tried to remove the plastic shield bottom of car installed by Toyota then realized it wasn't required.

- C11276
by:
2013 Toyota Prius

Hitch seems well made and so far hasn't fallen off the car! Like others have mentioned the installation was trickier than the video showed it to be and took us about 2 hours. Amongst other things, you may need a pipe to extend your wrench handle and really get some leverage on crusty old bolts. Definitely having two people makes it easier (but then again, having a lift or a pit would have made it easier/quicker too!). The main problem was on my 2013 Prius the muffler was about an inch closer to the rear of the car than in the video, so it was quite tricky to get a wrench in there. Eventually we did by shoving the muffler over with a lot of force. There is a rubber piece that attaches the muffler to the car. Although the paper instructions had a little diagram for how to release it, we couldn't figure it out and avoided messing with it so we wouldn't break it and have to replace it. It would be nice if you added the manipulation of that piece to the video. Lastly, we ended up using one of the stock bolts (in place of a bolt that came with the hitch) on the hardest to reach position because it had a conical end which made it easier to get the threads started. If the bolts that came with the hitch were a little tapered, it would greatly help getting them started.

Still attached to my car. I keep a bike rack on it constantly and have never had any problems.

The Curt # C11276 is designed to fit all trim levels and or options for the Toyota Prius in the 2011 model year. From what you are describing, I believe the hitch is just flexed out of alignment a little bit. Hitch manufacturers design the frame attachment arms with mild steel so that they can flex.
