Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Ok I am 69 and my wife is 68. 2 hours to install with one hiccup. When you install the bolts and nuts over the muffler (and it's tight for your hands) before you tighten them and top out side nuts put in your bolts for muffler hanger. Tighten ones over muffler then top nuts. Then take out the muffler hanger bolts and then install the hanger. We tighten the 4 top nuts and ones above muffler then our muffler hanger bolts wouldn't go in on one side. All went well and looks great. I have installed trailer hitch's before but this one had a lot of bodywork to take apart. It was easy. Box showed up with holes in it but everything was packed well. The extra parts ordered was in smaller box inside. Well done Etrailer. And shipping was fast. We have had problems before with orders but not this time.

The Hitch and 7pin/4pin outlet were great. The hitch was recessed to allow the bumper cover to hide when not in use and it came with a plate attached that allowed the outlet to be installed on it. The 7pin/4pin outlet is a great idea allowing for either connection without an adaptor. I did have to reverse the bracket by drilling new holes to allow it to sit behind the cover. The only catch for me was they don't sell a separate wiring harness to go from the round 7 pin to the rectangle Buick Enclave plug. Had to buy another 7pin outlet that came with the correct wiring to use. The installation was straight forward. Watch the videos before hand and all will be good.

Order my trailer hitch and received it in 3 days.
Instructions where complete. But I was not sure where some of the screws where located on the vehicle, so I Went to YouTube. This guy said that the hitch need some drilling to open up one of the predrilled hole. I was a little hastened be cause of that but it went on whit out a problem. Great deal I would highly recommend it to my friends. By my photo I should of purchased the bracket that holds my 7pin trailer wireing.

Other reviewers have noted how the holes don’t line up, and ours was no exception. Unfortunately my dremel was broken, and instead of replacing it (which was the smart thing to do), I spent 3 hours filing most of the holes to make this fit. Why on earth they didn’t match the hole sizes and location to those on the bumper that I removed is beyond me.

If not for that this job would have taken about an hour and saved $350 over the factory install. There’s a helpful YouTube video out there (the guy had to do the same thing to make the bumper fit). I’d still buy this from etrailer- great prices and customer service. This DrawTite hitch is just poorly designed in terms of lining the holes up.

Hitch mounting holes not aligning, unfortunately does happen. I am very happy that you were able to get this to work for you, but I have included one of our help articles for additional reference.

I am very satisfied with the hitch and the instructions for installation. I had been somewhat concerned, tearing into the project, a) It was on a new vehicle, b) had not torn into the bumper covering before to install a hitch. The step by step instructions & video removed these fears.

This receiver was installed on a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse.
Great communication from the staff on order status and estimated delivery. Product box came a bit banged up but that’s from the shipping company and let’s be honest, it’s a receiver that’s going to be covered up anyways. Paper instructions weren’t very specific but the video was the real game changer. It provided some good insight on how to remove the rear bumper which was my main concern. I did have to modify some mounting holes on the receiver itself by using a grinder bit and making the holes a bit larger so the bolts would line up properly. All in all it was a pretty straight forward install and I didn’t have any major issues. I will be recommending this product and site to others.

2019 BuickEnclave

I needed a family hauler/commuter vehicle because my dang kids are 6 feet tall now! Traded in my CTS (very hard to do, have a candle light vigil planned) for a Buick Enclave (Awesome second row leg room!) and decided I NEEDED to be able to put our bike carrier on it. Checked around at the local trailer hitch shops = $500+. Checked online and I figured I could do it myself. I like to work on cars. It will be FUN!

Placed the order, 3 days later get the email that today is the day, then UPS sends me an apology email that they mistakenly sent my package to Detroit. UPS delivers the next day and the box looked like it had been through Hell, or, you know, Detroit (I'm from Detroit, so I can say these things; you can not say these things; Detroit is AWESOME!). I immediately opened the box to see what was missing from the basketball sized whole in the end, and, to my dismay, NOTHING seemed to be missing. The order was packaged so well, that nothing was damaged or missing, despite UPS's best efforts! There wasn't even a scratch! The hardware was packaged and shrink wrapped to the hitch. I was about to have some FUN!

The installation was pretty uneventful, which is probably what you want! The hardest part was worrying. Cracking open a brand new car and "hanging" the exhaust is a bit nerve wracking, but I got through it, and so will you! Just take your time. Speaking of, I think the directions (yes, I read them) said it could be done in 90 minutes. It took me like 3.5 hours, mostly because I had to form a search party for my tools! Don't ask! Also, my darn cat WOULD. NOT. LEAVE. ME. ALONE! Apparently, she likes to work on cars, too! Also, the video installation tutorial was spot on! Watch it! It could save you some grief!

I am not sure why some reviewers put that the hitch didn’t align correctly when mines align perfectly. The only reason I am given it 4 out of 5 stars is because I believe he instructions online were for a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse LS because I have the LT and their are some T20 screws hidden inside the bumper. Near where the top of the paint and bumper meet. One is horizontal and the other vertical. Also my bumper does not come off that easy it had three white clips holding on to it that I had to take off. Other than that the hitch is perfect and the service with strainer is nothing but perfection. I order my hitch bike rack and hitch anti rattle lock from them.

Added hitch receiver to my 2019 Traverse so I could use a hitch mounted bike carrier. The installation instructions and video made it very easy to install. Use caution when removing the Rear Fascia so as not to break the clip holes.
Very happy with this hitch.

Good quality and easy to install. Fit perfectly on my 2021 Buick Enclave.

by:

Great product everything lined right up. Had everything installed in about a hour and fifteen minutes by myself. Not difficult just time consuming. Watch the short video sent with the email from Etrailer and it will make more since than the pdf. Highly recommend seller as they sent multiple emails offering support if you had any questions.

by:

The fit on the driver’s side was perfect, but the holes on the passenger side were all off approximately 3/16” vertically. This necessitated grinding them for a proper fit. All in all I was quite pleased with the overall installation. I watched your you tube video of the installation so I knew exactly what to expect. I am 70 years old and I performed the entire installation alone in 2 hours start to finish, modifications included. I was also quite pleased with the timely delivery of my order. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend etrailer to my friends.

For the most part I have been very happy with this trailer hitch, which I primarily use for a hitch mount bicycle rack.

I knocked 1 star off for the following reasons:
1) when received by UPS, the hitch (a significantly heavy chunk of steel), had broken out of it's intended position in what should have been its protective cardboard, and there were a couple of areas where the powder-coated paint was scrapped down to bare steel. (Not exactly what you want to see when you drive in the snow/salt belt.) It took me extra time to re-paint these areas to hopefully get a protective coat of paint back on the steel. This could be the result of careless handling from UPS, but handling also needs to be accounted for in the packaging when it is intended to ship something so heavy and awkward.
2) 1 of 8 bolt holes did not line up. This occurred in the area where a bolt has to screw into a tapped hole in the vehicle frame. The other holes were all dead-nuts on center, but there was no way the last hole was going to accept the bolt without a significant cross thread into the frame. I was able to perform a minor modification to enlarge the oddball hole in the hitch in only 1 direction using a dremel with an abrasive stone wheel. Again, this took extra time on my part which shouldn't have been necessary.
3) The electrical connection just to the left of the hitch receiver prevents me from inserting the safety pin on my bike rack mount. Not a big deal and equally an issue that is caused by the design of the bike rack. Just something to be aware of if your plan is to use a bike rack, and also add electricals.
4) For my 2020 Chevy Traverse, the hitch is fully hidden but accessible from the pop-out door in the rear bumper. This is a great feature, and one of my main reasons for selecting this type of a hitch. The only issue is the convenient bracket for mounting the 7 pin electrical connector interferes with the closure of the pop-out door when the hitch is not being used. I was able to bend the mounting kit to allow a better fit - so seemingly no big deal - just something to keep in mind that some modification may be needed.

Thank you for your very detailed account. I would say, the reason the hitch fit funny was due to slight flex, which is a common occurrence. Here is more info about it:

2018 Chevrolet Traverse

The Drawtite trailer hitch for my 2018 Chevy Traverse is well constructed and fit well. The printed instructions included with the product are very poor and misleading. At least an internet link to a good installation video could be included. I don't understand why the two carriage bolts that had to be fished through a tiny hole were not just replaced with a welded on nut on the bracket with bolts coming up from underneath. It would make installation much easier. Also, the welded on connector mount could be moved in more and to the left in order to provide more clearance for the safety chains and allow the bumper access cover to fit better.

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2024 Buick Enclave
To add a hitch to your 2024 Buick Enclave, I recommend the Draw-Tite item # 76184. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Buick with included hardware. I really like the Draw-Tite hitch item # 76184 because it installs behind your rear bumper cover and can be completely hidden when you are not towing. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a 750 lbs maximum tongue weight. If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver Wiring and Brake Controller For Towing With a 2023 Chevy Traverse
I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76184 for your 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. This will place your receiver behind the factory receiver panel giving you a clean factory appearance when you are not towing. For the wiring I recommend installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118287 and replacing the included 7-way with the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975. This connector will fit better behind the cover and has both a 4-way flat and 7-way blade...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2020 Chevy Traverse For A Bike Rack
I recommend to use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76184 for the 2020 Chevy Traverse because its a concealed cross tube design. The concealed cross tube will give it a nice clean OEM look because the only part of the hitch that is visible is the receiver. Since the cross tube does not hang down it will also provide better ground clearance for your bike rack compared to the other options. I have attached a video for your reference.

These are custom fit and quite a bit easier to install when you're putting the hitch on. Just like the Draw-Tite Hitch item # 76184 they require the rear bumper cover to be removed.
