The objective was a hitch that was invisible when not needed, so I installed this on my wife's new '24 BMW X3. I believe that anyone with a good set of tools, some basic dexterity, and a lot of patience can do it also. Just make sure to watch the videos before you start, watch them again, then put the laptop in the hatch area to review the steps, and give yourself a few hours! The hitch is top quality, the price is right, and it was honestly an enjoyable project, even for this 60'ish yo man. It's nice to know when the job is over that it was done correctly, with not one scratch in the paint.
Installing the Draw-Tite hidden hitch into my 2021 BMW X3M Comp. was a breeze following all the instructional videos on the Etrailer.com website. But the problem I had was the hidden hitch package was shipped with only the black bar and NO hitch, nor the receiver arrived with it. Then I had to call etrailer.com to get the case that had the hidden hitch and the receiver since all of it didn't come together. Etrailer.com shipped the case right away. Second, the actual hitch wouldn't connect to the hidden hitch receiver without some serious force. I almost contemplated returning it. But I was thinking even if I switched to the regular hitch it would end up looking the same if I just kept the hidden hitch attached. So I ended up keeping it. Etrailer.com provided me with the best support and experience through all of these issues. Draw-Tite Hidden hitch quality is also excellent and hopefully over time it'll get easier to put it on. Another trick I discovered that if I hold the blue Lock on the hitch when I am attaching and gently let it rotate instead of letting it snap back, it's easier to attach (See attached video).
2023 X3M. Awesome hitch. No fitment issues at all. Kudos to etrailer.com for their customer service. An install tip for others, if you're only installing the hitch, meaning, you're not doing the hardness, you do not need to remove the entire bumper. Removing the rear diffuser is sufficient. I learned about this after I took everything apart. Wanted to share it here to save others some time.
The hitch is invisible when the reciever is not installed. The reason why I rated this two stars is because the from my experience,
the reciever does not go in as intended. When I put the reciever into the "ready" state by turning the blue knob and place the reciever into the coupler, the entire thing just shoots out. I tried this no joke for at least an hour. I ended up having to unbolt the upper coupler from my the bar mounted to my bmw and connect the two pieces by literally almost having to slam them together on the ground. That even took me about 15 attempts before it finally went in. I am not sure if the tolerance is to tight or what, but I am certain it is not user error. Would not recommend buying this product in its current state. Thought the idea is great and the price would be appropriate if it worked as intended.
This trailer hitch is perfect for my purposes. I like that the receiver portion can be removed when we are not using it for the bike rack or utility trailer and the original lines of our BMW X3 are restored. Thanks!
Great product and super happy with the install. Put this on our 2021 X3 M40i. The comment in the first QnA to reference the non-ghost version was excellent advice. I had to remove a lot more panel screws than was show in the video but it wasn’t hard to figure out. Over all it was an easy process and it looks amazing and feels super solid when the hitch is in.
Super impressed with this hitch. Install was straight forward using the videos on etrailer. Shipping was fast. Highly recommend this hitch over the more expensive stealth brand.
The materials are all high quality. The carrying case makes it convenient to store the parts when not in use. The instruction videos made installation fast and easy.

Install took 2 hours. Off you’re only using this to haul a bike rack don’t make all three cuts in the underbody. Just the center one.
What a Great DEAL! This product is much cheaper than the alternative. The instructions are excellent for installation. One glitch is when first using it...the draw-tite instructions are unclear how to twist the dial which sets the spring. At one point I thought I broke it. Once you get the hang of that...it is an hitch, but only when you need it. Saves wear and tear and stays a clean look!

No scratches is quite the accomplishment! I dont think Id do that well even if I was meticulous haha Im not really allowed to help at my home except for maybe holding the flashlight. Based off the picture it really looks like you know what youre doing!
