Fully welded BMW X1 trailer hitch is strong and durable. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. The combination of an e-coat base and a powder coat finish provides excellent rust protection.

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 BMW X1, we're going to be installing Draw-Tite's class three, two inch trailer hitch receiver. Part number 76018. This is what our hitch is going to look like when it's installed. The cross tube is going to be hidden behind the bumper, so you're only going to be able to see the receiving tube sticking out the back. It's a two inch by two inch, class three trailer hitch receiver, so this is going to be great for all of your towing needs, from hauling a trailer, to bike racks to cargo carriers, this will do it all. It features hoop style safety chain loops. What's nice about these is large the opening is, so it will work with just about any size safety chain.
It uses a five-eighths inch hitch pin and clip. One does not included but you can pick one up here at etrailer.com, part number PC3.The small hole located rearward from your hitch pin hole will allow it to accommodate a j-pin. What's nice about these is this pin here will press up against whatever you have in your receiver end, acting as an anti-rattle device, preventing any noise and increasing stability of whatever is in your back. It features a 675 pound tongue weight, that's the force going down on top of the receiver and a 4500 pound gross towing capacity, that's how much it can pull behind it. You do want to make sure you check your vehicles owners' manual to ensure you're not exceeding its towing capacities. And now, I'll get some measurements for you to help you on deciding on accessories.
From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiving tube, it measures about 11 and three-quarter inches. This is important when deciding if you need to drop, rise or raise shank on any of your accessories. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, it measures about five inches. This is important when determining if any of your folding accessories can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper. We'll begin our installation at the rear of the vehicle, underneath by removing our lower fascia. There's eight bolts that will need to be removed using an eight millimeter socket.
And then towards the outside, you'll see a small pushpin. You'll want to remove that with your trim panel remover tool or flat bladed screw driver. Pry out the center first and then you can pull the pin out. Do the same thing on the opposite side. Now, we'll need to remove our fascia just on the lower half here. Start at one edge, pull outward and just work it all the way across.
We can now sit this aside. Now we need to lower down our exhaust. We're going to start with the hanger in the back, spray some spray lubricant on it and just pry that hanger off. Now we'll remove the exhaust hanger brackets that are towards the rear, we'll do that with a 13 millimeter socket. We'll do that on both sides.Next we're going to remove the heat shield. There's four nuts that need to be removed with a 10 millimeter socket. Now, a heat shield, you can pull down and slide it towards the rear if you get it out. We'll then need to trim our heat shield. We're going to trim it along this line here that I drew and again on this line here that I drew. Basically removing this middle section. You can use a cutoff wheel or a pair of tin snips to cut this. In order to make your heat shield clear the hitch, we'll trim off just along this edge here on each side. And when you're done you'll have two segments that will go on either side of the hitch. Now we'll need to remove the lower bumper beam bolt on each side with an 18 millimeter socket. To help ease the hitch installation, we're just going to loosen up the 10 millimeter nuts that hold on the sensor bar here. We don't want to completely remove them. Just allow us to have some wiggle room. Now we're going to use our hitch as a template, by lifting it into position, setting it on the studs on each side. Place your existing nuts back on and tighten them down. We'll now mark the center of our holes on each side using a paint stick. You can now take your hitch back down and drill out your holes. We'll now use an eighth inch drill bit to make a pilot hole. We'll do this on each side. We'll now drill out the hole using a one inch hole saw. Now we'll install our hardware into the hole we just drilled on each side. Take your fish wire in the kit, slide it through one of the spacers and then thread on one of the carriage bolts. Now, push the carriage bolts up into the frame, followed by the spacer and drop it back down. Do that on the other side as well. You can now lift your hitch back into position. Place your fish wire down through the hole in the back and lift it up on to the stud. Now, place your factory nuts back on the bumper studs and you'll repeat that same process on the other side. You can now remove the fish wire from your carriage bolt. Place on a conical tooth washer with the teeth facing up towards the hitch and install the nut. Be sure not to push your carriage bolt back up into the frame. I like to use my thumb to push against the side the conical tooth washer to help hold it in place. Now, torque all of your hardware to the specifications in your instructions. We'll now reinstall in the removed components in reverse order that we took them off. We'll start with the sensor bar by tightening it down with our 10 millimeter socket. Then place your heat shield back up. Once you've got it back in place, reinstall the four nuts that hold it in there. We'll now lift our fascia back into position and clip it in place. Line up your tabs and just press it back in. And slide the other part of your heat shield back in. Now reinstall the eight bolts that we removed with an eight millimeter head. Then install the two outer pins by pushing in place and pressing in the center pin to lock it.Now you can reinstall your exhaust, lift it into position and install the nuts on each of the rearmost hangers. And we'll reinstall the front most hanger here. Give it a little bit of spray and just push it back on.That completes our installation of Draw-Tite's class three, two inch trailer hitch receiver on our 2018 BMW X1.
I had some issues finding a hitch for my BMW X1 2024; BM does not seem to make a hitch for this vehicle and within 2 hours of my home, all suppliers/garages were back ordered for hitches that would fit. A friend suggested I call etrailer and make sure what they offered was a ‘certified fit’, so Kate at etrailer mentioned this one. Kate suggested the garage should watch the installation videos to make sure they can actually install this, and so they did. I had it delivered to a garage that accepts to install hitches (even ones they didn’t order themselves). Long story short, this hitch was perfect for my BMW X1 2024.
I'll rate my new hitch for my BMW X1excellent. It's actually my 2nd hitch, as I mounted one on my previous car (Jetta Sportswagon).
I don't have a lift, but put the car on 2 wooden platforms to get it further 8-10 inches for ground to have more space underneath to perform the installation. Installation was straight forward. There was one little snag. The carriage bolt that are installed with the "reverse pull-wire technique" is slightly larger that 1inch (please see attached photo). I had bought a Milwaukee 1" hole saw (as per instructions) and I couldn't get the carriage bolt through the hole. A little filing around the edges of the hole cured the problem. Other than that - it worked like a charm and I'm very pleased with the installation. Tomorrow I'll get the electric wiring done and expect this to be fairly easy as well.
I'm very pleased with all steps of this purchase and install.
The sales staff were all very attentive, with great communication with what I needed, the purchase, shipping and a follow up. The install was much easier after watching the e-trailer install video. I'm not sure how they could improve any of it.
Great fit. I had to use a file to make the holes a bit bigger in order to fit the mounting hardware. I painted edges of the holes with anticorrosive paint.
I used a table saw to cut the heat shield. I did only one cut. I did two short cuts on both ends and I bent the front part so it fits perfectly. No piece was discarded.

Works well
This Draw-Tite receiver went in perfectly on my 2016 X1 with the sport package. The hitch was great and is nicely tucked away as much as possible below the lower fascia. I combined this with a Tekonsha custom wire harness that was plug-and-play, for a flawless setup. And the X1 towed a 1,400-lb load (pictured) without any issues whatsoever.
great product; highly recommended!!!
Received the product very quickly and this is definitely a solid hitch. I had it professionally installed and they found some alignment issues with my 2023 BMW X1 that required grinding to get the fit. The professional installers also noted that there was an error in the instructions, where initially the assumed the bumper would not need to be removed for the install and it did require removal.
Excellent strength and accuracy of dimensions for BMW X1 F48. Easy install. Arrived a bit nicked up and needed touch up paint on the scratches. Instructions do not cover bumper fascia removal on M Sport model which has a very difficult to unsnap fascia. Very satisfied overall.
The challenge--to haul bicycles with a BMW X1. There aren't a lot of good options, given that very few bike carriers are recommended to strap onto the rear door, and few roof racks fit this vehicle. Hence, we ordered this product. I paid to have it installed, so I can't say how easily it mounted. The labor charge was $185. It fits beautifully, just peeking out from under the lower rear body panel.
One thing I didn't think about was weight. This hitch weighs around 30 lbs, not a trivial amount of weight on a vehicle of this size. Can I feel it? Yes, I think so. Is it a problem? Not for me. However, when added to my 40+ lb Yakima Ridgeback bike carrier and two lightweight bikes, I suspect it will be significant.
Overall, this is probably the best of the few available options for carrying bikes with this vehicle. Thanks again to etrailer.com, my go-to vendor.

Great! Excellent product
Hitch fit 2016 X1 perfectly. I installed it in my garage.
This rack is great for my Yakima Ridgeback Bike Rack and my 2017 BMW X1! I purchased this rack a year ago from etrailer.com and the rack arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I went to a local trailer shop in NJ and they were able to install the rack with ease the same day . I primarily use the trailer for my Yakima Ridgeback 4 Bike Rack and things have been great! The only small issue I had is that the Yakima Bike Rack attachment mechanism is a little bit sharp and can scratch the inside of the rack if you're not careful; this happened the first time I used the bike rack. I was able to easily fix the scratch with some heavy duty spray paint and now that I am more careful with putting the rack on taking it off I have not had any issues. Definitely recommend!
We purchased the trailer hitch a couple months ago and had it installed on our 2016 BMW X1 at an auto shop that specializes in BMWs. The guys who did the installation were impressed with the product design and installation instructions. They said it took them about 90 minutes to do the install.
We are very happy with the way the installed trailer hitch looks on the car. We are using it with a Thule bike rack, and it has worked well the few times we have used it so far.
this product is great. the unit mounts under the rear with relative ease. one heat shield can not be reused. but other than that it works like a champ. this hitch is mounted to two major bolts on the frame and two bolts that go through the floor. the installation is straightforward. but if you are not mechanicaly inclined dont do it.
i would not overload this hitch. otherwise great product.
I’m very pleased with the trailer hitch that I ordered from you. My only problem was finding a local installer but after that problem was solved, I’ve been very happy using the product for my bike rack.
Product looks solid and well designed. All hidden except for the 2" receiver. The instructions for the hitch were fine, but the instructions for the heat shield were poor and not usable. I basically had to keep trimming and trial fitting to get the outer piece to fit. Overall time to install was over 3 hrs and I have a lift and have done lots of work on cars. A lot of time was spent getting the heat shield trimmed and mounted.
This hitch receiver was straightforward to install and has worked great for everything that we have needed on our 2017 BMW X1. If I need hitch kits for other vehicles in the future I will definitely come to etrailer.com.
Super easy to install on my 2019 BMW X1 using the instructions provided. I was taking my time and all in with clean up it took about 2 hours. I bought 2 car ramps [online] to help raise the car up. Other than that just needed the right drill bit and tools.
I've been using it for a year now for bikes and it's been great. It rides low enough where it looks OK with the car, but not so low as to be a problem backing up driveways etc.
Quick delivery, great instructions and easy installation. Appearance is perfect. Everything worked great!

Were very satisfied with the product. Have primarily used it for a bike rack. Very clean look like a factory type install versus an aftermarket add on. Thanks!
Thank you Carol, will require additional holes drilled in order to install this trailer hitch on my 2016 BMW X1 ?

Drilling a total of two holes will be necessary as shown in the installation video Ive linked for you.

The instructional videos for etrailer.com are awesome. Very informative and thorough. This is the second hitch I have purchased and both installations have gone very well, I was able to accomplish the most recent install alone with no assistance.
Nice product fro Draw-Tite...
Easy to install, fit my vehicle perfectly, and handles whatever load I throw at it (though mostly it’s just a bike rack).
This was PIA to install but once in, it does the job. I only use it for a bike rack and it handles it securely.
This was the fourth hitch I've installed from etrailer. Just like the first three it was easy. Instructions are plain and simple; follow them and you can't go wrong. Thanks etrailer :-)
The product looks great but from the description I thought it only required drilling two holes. Turns out if you watch the whole video you have to remove heat shield and cut it as well. I don't feel comfortable doing this so not sure how I am going to install.
