2006 Honda Pilot

I needed a hitch and wiring harness for my 2006 Honda Pilot. After quickly locating what I needed on etrailer’s well designed website, I called customer service to confirm my choices. My call was answered immediately, and the customer service representative was extremely helpful. The hitch and harness I ordered arrived in three days in perfect condition. Installation was a cinch with the help of videos and customer suggestions included on etrailer’s website. I’m totally pleased with my hitch and harness, and can’t imagine a better value or experience for DIYers. 661144

2007 Honda Pilot

After shopping around for hitches and reading the Etrailer reviews, I bought the curt hitch for my 2007 Honda Pilot. From my initial contact with Etrailer {Emily M) to the install of the hitch on my Pilot was completely effortless. It litlery took less then 30 minutes for my buddy and I to install. Everything on the hitch lined up perfectly to my Honda Pilot. We did have to bend the heat shield by the muffler a little, but no fault to Etrailer. The hitch is rock solid and it's finish was perfect. It will easily support my bikes and other attachments. Great investment! 723391

2004 Honda Pilot

After making prior purchases from etrailer.com, I was certain I was making a great decision to add a tow-hitch to my 2004 Honda Pilot. After ensuring the correct fit, etrailer.com excelled in providing installation instructions that (even a novice installer) can walk through with ease. Overall, the installation took roughly 45-minutes, thanks to the video installation walk-throughs via etrailer.com. One more reason etrailer.com surpasses the competition. 523834

2000 Honda Pilot

This will be a rather long review since I am combining the entire purchase in this one review. To start I am a 60+ yr. old female & not mechanically inclined but after getting an estimate of over $900. 00 from the local Honda dealer to install a receiver & the electrical wiring so that I could tow a small trailer I decided to shop around. I wasn't even sure of what all I would need or what the parts were called except for the ball. I visited a few websites & sent a few emails to inquire. Etrailer was the first to respond to my questions & provided links so I went back to their site. After viewing a video on the different receivers that would fit my Honda Pilot I favored the Curt receiver. That was my starting point & I moved on to the next item I would need which was the hitch. I never knew there were so many possibilities & I didn't have a clue what the rise & drop was all about so I sent another email. Within a matter of hours I'd gotten a response from a fellow named Jon G. He was just the hook-up I needed!! The links he provided answered all of questions I had & gave me the education I needed. (I was still waiting for responses from the other websites I'd sent inquiries to.) I was certain at this point that I would make my purchase with etrailer.com & proceeded filling up my shopping cart with the Curt receiver, the Curt ball mount, the chrome hitch ball, the electrical wiring & an anti-rattle hitch pin. Before I paid for the items I asked Jon G. for 1 more favor. Would he kindly view the items in my cart to make sure I had matched the items up so that each would fit correctly with the other. He did & I made the purchase. Within a few days the order arrived & I was confident enough after watching the installation video & reading other reviews that I could install everything myself. I used the lift in a friend's garage & enlisted the help of a female friend. She held the receiver up on one end while I was at the other installing the bolts. Then it was her turn. Together we had the receiver installed in less than 30 minutes. It was so easy!! Next, we installed the wiring That took close to an hour. Mainly because we were trying to be so careful when pulling back the rubber & popping out the panel clips but we got 'er done & did a beautiful job of it, if I may say so myself. All in all, it took almost 2 hours to complete but that includes disposing of cardboard boxes, putting away the tools, lowering the S-L-O-W lift & backing the vehicle out of the garage. etrailer is #1 in Customer Service & Satisfaction, Product Variety & Quality & Anything that You want to Hitch. Well, almost anything.....you can't hitch your kid....or, your dog....er, dogs. Thanks again, etrailer. You guys are BOSS!!! 329202

Its really very sturdy, needed another hand for installing. I installed it on a 2005 Honda Pilot, so needed to remove tow hook on rear driver side to install hitch. I had issues with rusted weld nut on passenger side, one is completely moved out, other two had no threads. I had to order the CURT 18-Inch Trailer Hitch Fish Wire for 1/2-Inch, to install the bolt from top and used a nut from bottom. Where the threads are completely gone, used a Irwin 12-1 25 mm bottom tap to rethread and was able install the bolts. Primarily using this hitch to carry a 2-bike rack. Used it for a 20 mile round trip so far, everything looks great, no wobbling. Also bought a Rola 2 bike rack from etrailer. 851258

The hitch arrived quickly and etrailer provided detailed tracking throughout the entire process. The hitch was super-easy to install. Took less than two hours. Most of that time was spent cleaning out the old weldnuts attached to my car. Minus one star due to packaging. Thoughtful packaging has been designed, however, I think the padding could be a little beefier. Looks like the carrier may have been a little rough with the package and the hitch arrived with a few scratches. Not a big problem, though. 819669

The hitch for my Honda Pilot fit perfectly, was well priced and appears to have been made very sturdy. I have used it already 6 times, hauling my 2 jet skis and trailer for the dump or to get materials. It took more time than was originally planned but the company was very diligent making me feel at ease and building my trust. Thanks again!!! 817122

It went in pretty easily, did it myself with two jackstands holding it up while I put the bolts in. The only downside is that the full-size spare doesn't fit as well as it did before - it's hitting the back of the 2" tube and not seating all the way up in the cavity like it did before. I'm using it for a bike rack and it's worked fine so far. 816847

Directions made it sound easy to install. Not so easy due to fit around muffler! 808431

by:

Showed up quickly, was easy to install. One recommendation for anyone putting their own trailer hitch on. BUY THE APPROPRIATE SIZE TAP AND DIE. You really just need the tap. This will allow you to clean and groom The mounting holes and nuts for easy installation of the hitch. Otherwise you may be spending hours on something that would only take 30 minutes and also may damage the mounting bolts. In my case, I needed a 10MM and 12MM Tap. If you have had your car for any period before installing this hitch, dirt, debris and corrosion are very likely present in the mounting holes and it is going to make this simple install much much more time consuming and painful! I’ve tried it both ways (with and without a tap) and it’s night and day between installs! You’re still saving a lot of money doing this yourself. Don’t cheap out completely and not spend the $20-50 for taps. 808302

- 13328
by:

Super easy to install even by your self. if you have an older vehicle make sure you grab a tap or thread cleaner. Its listed in the instructions the thread size and diameter. I struggled with the last three bolts due to corrosion, the tap took about 10mins to make the threads clean. Hitch looks great and was delivered super fast. 807813

2004 Honda Pilot

Easy to install. Great online video on how to install it. Only issue I have with it is that it rattles between the 2" receiver the and the ball mount hitch. My other trucks do not rattle with the same hitch. It is very annoying when you drive down street with no load on the trailer. I will not buy Curt again. The tolerances could be tighter on the 2" receiver. It would have received 4 stars other wise. 798032

Was totally thrilled by the fast delivery. I purchased the hitch suggested in your reviews and was impressed with the quality and workmanship. The installation process quite simple , however I was fighting 14 years of accumulated rust in removing the original tow hook. Will have to some welding of the frame to complete installation. (darn rust) Bottom line is the product, the video instructions and the delivery were superior and I would always recommend e trailer for every ones towing supplies. 779407

  • 2006 Acura MDX Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation
The owners manual for your 2006 Acura MDX will be the final authority on the towing capacity, but my research indicates that it would have 3,500 lbs of capacity. For a trailer hitch we have the Curt part # 13328 which is a fit and would work well. A local garage or trailer rental place would have no problem with this either. For trailer wiring you'd then want the Tekonsha kit part # 118336 which is a confirmed fit and our most reliable wiring harness brand. Since you wanted to do...

The weld nuts on your 2006 Honda Pilot could just be so compacted with grime that they appear to be thread-less. I recommend giving them another good cleaning using the lubricant like you did before, and a stiff bristle wire brush like # DW00254. You may have to do this several times. I have linked a video of this process below. If you still cannot thread the bolts in, even after a thorough cleaning, you may have to tap the holes to re-thread them and clean them out. First, sometimes in the shipping process a hitch can flex. As long as there are no indications of stress the flange can be flexed into the correct position. • Above Ground Height of Curt Class III 13328 Trailer Receiver Hitch on 2004 Acura MDX
I don't have that exact measurement handy, but I was able to figure it out for you. The drop measurement (distance from the underside of the frame member to the top of the receiver tube) is right at 3 inches. This measurement on the Draw-Tite # 75599 is just a little bit less at 2-1/2 inches. This means that the inside top of the Curt # 13328 would sit at about 16-1/2 inches above the ground, versus 17 inches for the Draw-Tite. I've linked you to the install instructions for each hitch.

Wiring harnesses are not included with Curt hitches. Hitches include the hardware needed to mount the hitch to the vehicle. Some Hidden Hitch models will included a draw bar and pin and clip. There are a handful of Valley hitches that have integrated wiring. For your 2005 Honda Pilot, you would use either part # 118336 or part # 33105 for a trailer wiring harness.

  • Does Curt Trailer Hitch # 13328 Correctly Fit 2005 Honda Pilot
The Curt 2-inch Class III trailer hitch # 13328 that you referenced is a valid fit for your 2005 Honda Pilot and is the one of the three options for your car that I recommend because it has the same capacities as the others but costs less. All required hardware is included for bolt-on installation (no drilling!) and an install video is linked for you to show you the entire process. This hitch is custom-designed just for your Pilot. You will also need a ball mount, hitch ball (of the...

This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your Acura MDX and it will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. It will provide you with a 2 inch receiver...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Option for 2008 Honda Pilot That Doesnt Involve Trimming Bumper Fascia
When we installed the Curt # 13328 on a 2008 Honda Pilot, we didn't need to trim the bumper fascia, as shown in the video I've linked you to. If your bumper fascia is the same as shown in the video, you shouldn't need to trim anything. The Draw-Tite # 75599 has the same towing and tongue weight capacities, so it's just as strong and would work just as well as the Curt model. The Draw Tite model makes no mention whatsoever of the need for trimming the bumper fascia, which is why it would...
