I finally had a chance to put the J-pin to use on my Draw Tite hitch and it worked better than expected. I am outdoor weekend warrior so this setup is spot on for me. I see vehicles towing down the road with a sway, but not me. This is the primary reason I purchased the DrawTite Class III hitch with the J-pin stabilizer.

Very glad I bought this. Works great when I use my cargo carrier to keep it from wobbling around. Taking the nut on and off takes an extra 30 seconds compared to a cotter pin, but unless you swap hitches frequently, it is not an issue. The lock also provides great security. After a year of use, everything works as smooth as day one.

Comments
Still happy with it. Lock still works great.

Both of my hitches have the dual holes and this pin fits perfectly. It reduces the wobble in my ball mount or my cargo rack. I appreciate that the stamped wrench is a box-end wrench with a long handle. It is very sturdy.

Love the combo! Trailer, hitch, attachment plate, lock. I mostly carry gardening tools on trailer. So much easier to access and store tools on trailer than load then unload them from inside Highlander. Trailer also handy for carrying large materials. With strategy, crate and hand trolley, I can remove and reattach trailer solo. Am 71, 5'3"

I really like this product. When it is not being used to secure a hitch cargo carrier, I use it to leave a ball mount/hitch ball in permanence on my vehicle, so that people keep their distance when parking. I had originally spayed it with white lithium spray grease (on the exterior only; not in the mechanism or lock) to reduce corrosion, but road salt has been eating it a bit, and got into the key hole (because the flimsy rubber cover fell off a couple of months after purchase). So, I dipped the whole thing in degreaser to to remove the lithium grease, then dipped it in hot water 3-4 times to try to dissolve the road salt that got into the key hole, then submerged the whole thing in 70% isopropyl alcohol to help remove the remaining salt and remove some of the water from the first rinses, then submerged it in 99% isopropyl alcohol to remove the remaining water (from the 70:30 isopropanol:water), then put it for a couple of hours in the oven at 225 Farenheit (water boils at 212 Farenheit) to evaporate every last bit of water, and finally lubricated the lock with graphite. So, for those of you who live in or drive through areas where road salt is used and want to avoid this thorough clean-up, I would suggest you take a thick plastic bag, put some silica gel cat litter (to absorb any moisture in the plastic bag), put the bag over the lock, and seal the bag with a tie-wrap or a couple of rubber bands. That should keep humidity and dust out of the mechanism.

Comments
If I am not mistaken, this J-pin has gone through two winters. In Québec, there is a lot of salt applied to the roads so, despite the thorough cleaning and lubrication from last year, the whole thing is very rusty and the locking mechanism is kind of grindy. As mentioned in previous review, most of the time, the fixed ball mount is in place. Every few months, I swap the ball mount for a cargo carrier, so that is when the grindy lock can be annoying. Some graphite powder in the key hole is enough for now, but I fear this solution might not be working for much longer…

I got my first trailer hitch recently—a Draw-tite with an extra hole in the receiver. After I heard the clunk-clunk of the hitch bar in the receiver on the way home from the shop, I was intrigued by Draw-tite’s J-pin stabilization pin, so I bought one. Looks like it’ll do the job just fine.

- 63201
by:

This part is so great! It is amazing how this small part can reduce the vibration of our luggage carrier. The pin is well made and easy to get on and off the trailer hitch

- 63201
by:

Looks like a good product haven't been able to use it . The only thing it won't fit my bike rack wish they would make something similar but in 1/2 size.

- 63201
by:

My drawtite hitch looks great and fit perfectly. Only reason review isn't a perfect 5 stars is because the box arrived slightly damaged with two points of the hitch protruding out and was scuffed and had to be retouched with paint. My JPin package was also opened and parts scattered in the box and a missing security key. Connie with etrailer CS was awesome and assisted with processing a claim for a replacement part . As a repeat customer definitely appreciate the great experience as always.

by:

This hitch lock works great. Used it with a 2" hitch that I also purchased from etrailer. With the awesome how-to video it was a cinch to install and it's a solidly built and designed item. I'm quite satisfied with this company.

- 63201
by:

This J-Pin works as good as advertised at not hearing the noise from receiver hitch!!!

- 63201
by:

I would like to tell you about my experience with etrailer.com. I am a return customer because I always find what I need at reasonable prices, quick and inexpensive shipping charges. I ordered this lock for a 1999 GMC Safari to fit my Draw Tite hitch. It is very well made. Fits perfectly and no wobble at all. I highly recommend etrailer.com. I feel they are a very good company to deal with because I get personal service which is uncommon these days.

- 63201
by:

Good solid product. Nice cap over the key slot and O-ring to keep dirt out of the mechanism. One manufacturer issue. This Draw•Tite® J-Pin® Anti-Rattle Pin could not be used on a Draw Tie hitch which was pre-drilled for a J-Pin. The mounting bracket which was part of the hitch got in the way of installing the pin from one direction and from installing the lock from the other direction.

- 63201
by:

This Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset works well and I’m very pleased with it.

- 63201
by:

Have only used this twice in the past year and wonder how I made it this long without it! Absolutely takes all the rattle out of your hitch and gives me peace of mind that nobody can steal my hitch ball

- 63201
by:

This J hook is a blessing to stop draw bar rattle. I wish the hitches on 2 other vehicles were designed for this device. I will not purchase another hitch without this option.

- 63201
by:

When installed and tightened down with the included wrench this rigidly attaches the trailer ball mount to the hitch, making it very quiet. The lock on the pin doesn't seem to be very robust, but I think it will be good enough. The rubber cap for the keyhole is attached by a very thin piece of rubber that looks like it will break very soon. I would be happier if this cover attachment was beefier. If it breaks and the rubber cap comes off, I suspect you can get enough dust and dirt into the keyhole to cause problems when trying to unlock it.

- 63201
by:

Simple to install, everything needed is included. And now my trailer ball and bar has ZERO slack...it feels like it is welded straight into my frame. Those rattles and unexpected clunks going down the road are a thing of the past! Shown being used on a 2017 Subaru Outback (that also has a hitch from etrailer.)

- 63201
by:

Love the trailer. It looks great and sits well under my bumper. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I haven't towed anything on it yet.

- 63201
by:

It keep the hitch from moving and keeps my bike safer

- 63201
by:

This is a great, secure locking pin. Holds tight. Easy to use. I hope replacement rubber caps are available. I'll use it for my hitch ball as well as the step unit.

- 63201
by:

Worked perfect and super easy to install. Can’t wait to tow my all aluminum trailer with less rattle!

- 63201
by:

love this Stabilization J Pin. IT completely takes the rattle out of any hitch.

- 63201
by:

Pretty good piece but could be more protected from rust as it is rusting from the winter road salt. Can be a little hard to get it to lock on the shaft at times. Would probably buy again.

- 63201
by:

Seems to work good so far. Eliminated the bad wobble on my bike rack. Have yet to use it on any other accessory in the hitch.

Comments
Works great! I love the fact that it tightens the hitch and eliminates the wobble and clunking when towing! Well designed!

To tighten up the hitch/bike connection, simply tighten up the knob. For that reason, I think the best solution to use an anti-rattle hitch pin that won't require any drilling, like the # 63232 . Hitch pins don't really have weight capacities as they don't really bear any of the weight of the trailer. Graphite is a good choice to keep the lock from seizing up, but not the best choice when it's already seized up. I'd try giving the lock a good soak with an aerosol penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster. Wait a short time, then insert the key and give the end of the key a couple of sharp raps with a mallet.
