The SilentACT (Accessory Control Technology) hitch lock from Let's Go Aero takes the rattle and play out of the connection between your trailer hitch and your hitch accessory. The unique design features a sturdy steel block with an attached spring that sits inside the shank of your hitch-mounted accessory.

Note: This device can only be used with hollow-shank hitch accessories.

SilentACT Hitch Pin DiagramSilentACT Hitch Pin Diagram

Place the block inside your ball mount or hitch accessory, and line up the hole in the block with the pin hole in your ball mount. Slide your ball mount into your hitch and insert the hitch pin. To activate the anti-rattle device, fold out the integrated handle and rotate the pin clockwise. Doing this will pull the accessory up against the wall of your hitch receiver, thus keeping the accessory from moving around inside your hitch. When you're done, just fold the crank-handle down. No more annoying clanking or vibrating.

Polyurethane Washer

SilentACT Polyurethane Washer

When the quick-release handle is folded down, the red polyurethane washer expands. To indicate the SilentACT is properly tightened the outer diameter of the red washer wil match the outer diameter of the flat washer.

Barrel-Style Lock

SilentACT Hitch Pin Diagram

The 90-degree, barrel-style lock goes on the end of the anti-rattle pin to provide security for your hitch-mounted accessories. Two round keys are included with the lock. A sturdy rubber dust cap comes attached to the barrel lock so that you can easily cover the lock cylinder, thus ensuring that no dirt or grime will get in to damage the lock.

Before I purchased this product I sent Etrailer.com specs on the type of vehicle and hitch I had. They were nice enough to send me back an actual video with 2 recommendations. I went with the SilentAct Anti Rattle hitch lock. What I like about this hitch is it's easy to install and to lock. It has a crank system which allows you to tighten the hitch so it won't rattle in transit. You can easily lock and unlock it. I've used it so far to transport my road bike. There wasn't any more rattling and I felt secure when driving with my bike on it. The test will be my mountain bike. I would recommend this product for a 1 1/4 trailer hitch as a Class I or possibly II. What I do wish that it was less expensive.. it's def not a cheap lock. 114888

Hey Patrick, so far so good. The lock still works fine : The lug nut inside the hitch has worn down a bit, but it still tightens once you bring the locking bar down

PROBLEM!! Please see attached pictures of the distorted plastic handle on the Silentact. This occurred removing the reciver lock the second time after using. For the price of this item, a metal handle would be better suited for the job of "tighten firmly". Other than this major problem the item worked as advertised. Would like to continue using it, however, a more reliable handle is essential 133655

Read the reviews, most of which panned it for the larger hitches, but I have an 1-1/4" so I went with it. I will be using it with an Aero VeeMe, which has an integrated threaded insert so this screws right in in place of the lame bolt that comes with it and makes the included spring nut unnecessary. The problem is, the threaded insert puts the end of the threads closer to the outside of the receiver so this product as is stops threading in before it's close enough for the cam to work. I will need to either shim it with another metal washer, replace the nylon spacer with a thicker one, or possible pull out the old tap & die set and cut the threads a little further along the shaft of the pin. Not exactly plug & play when used with the rack I bought. It may work fine on others where the spring nut comes into play. 250565

I am not sure what to think of this lock to be honest. I liked it but it wasnt for me and I will explain more below. Build - It seems very well built and easy to use. I would have loved to continue to use it. Although it does fit all of the hitch sizes specified, it doesnt work 100% properly with 2" or 2 1/2" hitches. Install - As stated above, the reason I was not fond of this lock is because the way you install it, you insert the block with the spring on it inside of the hitch and that is what you are supposed to screw into with the pin. On a 1 1/4" hitch, this would work fine, however I found that not only did the spring do nothing on a 2" hitch, allowing the block to slide around as you try to install your hitch into the receiver, but the block is also too small for a 2" receiver. This makes install time consuming and annoying because as you try to thread the pin into the block, it just spins inside of the hitch instead of the corners catching like it is designed to do on a 1 1/4" hitch. The way I got it to work was pulling on it as I threaded it slowly, allowing for friction to help with threading it in, but now removing it is also going to be cumbersome trying to unthread it. I opted to return these locks and purchase the 2" specific locks made by the same company because I plan on removing and swapping my rack between vehicles often, so I did not want to deal with the constant headache of screwing the pin in and having the block spin inside. Great concept, but there needs to be specific models for each hitch size in my opinion. 551058

Didn't work as well I hoped. Quality part, but did not hold as securely as I hoped. Had to much play with the plastic washer. Used on a bike rack. I replaced with a threaded oen that screwed in with a socket wrench that worked very well to stake the slack out. I also bought that on etrailer.com. 825430

There are a number of issues with this product. For one, it does NOT fit all 1-1/4" drawbars. Sure it will fit a 2" or larger though. But the included nut/spring assembly does not fit inside my 1-1/4 drawbar. I was able to place a 1/2" nut inside the drawbar to make it work (had it welded in) but I should not have to do that on a $50 locking pin. This device did almost ZERO in minimizing the rocking motion of my custom built SINGLE bike carrier. Also the plastic cam handle is very flimsy. The cam lever only allows a certain amount of tension against the soft rubber spacer. Even if the spacer were a solid material, I think the handle would break if more tension could be applied. I did not want to force it, so I removed it and abandoned it. The one thing I did like was the lock itself. If they could make that cam lever aluminum or something much ore solid than nylon, and use a derlin or similar spacer ( not soft elastomer), make the spring nut narrower, well then maybe then it would be a good buy. The way it is I think this is a very expensive locking pin that does not do what is advertised. 825226

Carol the replacement or alternate hitch lock that I received (since the one that I ordered was not in and would nor be in for a long time) is not up to my satisfaction. The plastic handle is cheap and the spring had to be modified just to fit. I'm not happy with the product at all and am looking for replacement asap. I will not be writing a review for this product and waste of my money. 575734

The cargo carrier was exactly what I needed to load extra equipment for my recent camping and fishing trip to N. C. I also purchased a light harness and anti sway lock for the carrier. The light harness was an additional safety precaution for the drivers behind me to see. However, the anti sway lock was cumbersome to tighten, taking many attempts to thread through the hitch nut insert. 517572

Looks like it will work well. Great help buying it from Karen. Good shipping. For me application I had to call for help because the spring nut turned out to be unnecessary. Good phone help so I could understand. I haven't used it on the road yet, so I'm reluctant to give it 5 star but it looks like it will earn it. 487931

  • How To Reduce Wobble On the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but I cannot confirm the SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Accessories Lock part # SHP2082 will work with the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack like part # Y02443. That said, even if it were to fit it would likely not reduce wobble any more than the threaded hitch pin included with the bike rack. Instead, I recommend the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-033 for 2" or part # 325-GH-013 for 1-1/4" as these will reduce wobble (inside the shank) and they also make...

I attached a picture with the pieces side-by-side so you can see how it replaces and "extends" the hitch bar. Or another option I think you will like is the Pro Series lock and anti-rattle device # PS63100.
