Hi there Gooseneck trailer owners, today we're going to be taking a look at Reese's two and five 16th inch High-Rise Gooseneck ball. This is going to work great with your factory under bed Gooseneck kits. It works with most trucks. It also makes a great replacement if you need one for your Reese hitch. It locks in place using two ball-bearings, and you can release it by pulling up on the center lever and twisting it 90 degrees. We can then pull it out and you can see here that the balls are recessed, but as I twist it and drop it back down, the balls lockout, holding it in place. See there it won't go in.
There is a channel located down inside and the balls riding that groove. And what I like about this ball is that it can actually rotate inside that groove. So when you're hauling your Gooseneck trailer, typically the Gooseneck could pivot on the ball here, which could potentially cause wear. It is a good idea to apply grease to it to help minimize that wear. So being able to rotate inside the ball will help mitigate that wear even further. Now, if you are using a factory under bed kit like we are here, I strongly recommend that you pick up a set of safety cable loops. They'll drop right into your fifth wheel pucks.
So that way you've got a place to attach those safety cables to keep you sure that you're DOD compliant in all States. It's a Chrome plated solid steel construction that offers a 30,000 pound gross towing capacity. As always, you should check your owner's manual and ensure you don't exceed the towing capacity of your truck. You'll look here. If we look towards the bottom of the ball, you can see that it extends up about an inch, and that gives you an inch of rise, so that when you're Gooseneck is on here, you've got more clearance between it and the truck bed.Once you've got your ball in place and you find an appropriately sized set of safety chain loops for your truck, we're now ready to back up and hook up our trailer and hit the road. And that completes our look at Reese's two and five 16th inch High-Rise Gooseneck ball..
