Hi there Gooseneck trailer owners, today we're going to be taking a look at Reese's two and five 16th inch High-Rise Gooseneck ball. This is going to work great with your factory under bed Gooseneck kits. It works with most trucks. It also makes a great replacement if you need one for your Reese hitch. It locks in place using two ball-bearings, and you can release it by pulling up on the center lever and twisting it 90 degrees. We can then pull it out and you can see here that the balls are recessed, but as I twist it and drop it back down, the balls lockout, holding it in place. See there it won't go in.
There is a channel located down inside and the balls riding that groove. And what I like about this ball is that it can actually rotate inside that groove. So when you're hauling your Gooseneck trailer, typically the Gooseneck could pivot on the ball here, which could potentially cause wear. It is a good idea to apply grease to it to help minimize that wear. So being able to rotate inside the ball will help mitigate that wear even further. Now, if you are using a factory under bed kit like we are here, I strongly recommend that you pick up a set of safety cable loops. They'll drop right into your fifth wheel pucks.
So that way you've got a place to attach those safety cables to keep you sure that you're DOD compliant in all States. It's a Chrome plated solid steel construction that offers a 30,000 pound gross towing capacity. As always, you should check your owner's manual and ensure you don't exceed the towing capacity of your truck. You'll look here. If we look towards the bottom of the ball, you can see that it extends up about an inch, and that gives you an inch of rise, so that when you're Gooseneck is on here, you've got more clearance between it and the truck bed.Once you've got your ball in place and you find an appropriately sized set of safety chain loops for your truck, we're now ready to back up and hook up our trailer and hit the road. And that completes our look at Reese's two and five 16th inch High-Rise Gooseneck ball..

Get an extra inch of height for your Reese Elite Series underbed gooseneck trailer hitch with this chrome-plated, high-rise ball. Pop-in ball functions the same way as your current Elite Series hitch ball.Solved my problem, stopped the goose neck from hitting the bed when turning
The taller ball solves the problem of the gooseneck hitting the bed. All hitches should come new with the high rise ball.
etrailer staff helped me get the Curt Ball (which rusted badly in under 2 years) out of my F350.
They recommended the Reese ball...hopefully this one won't rust and jam....I doused the balls liberally with silicone grease before installation.
Pic is on Curt ball after extraction!
Quality product. With a standard ball, I either had 5 inches of clearance or had to adjust the coupler which gave me 7.5 inches of clearance but had the trailer quite nose high. The "High-Rise" gave me the clearance I needed between the gooseneck trailer and the tailgate of my 2018 RAM 3500 Dually. I was able to lower the gooseneck coupler and using the High-Rise now have about 6.25 inches of clearance.
etrailer customer service was very helpful and kept me up to date on back order/shipping statuses.
This Ball is doing a great job for me I pull a goose neck trailer all the time , I have pulled multiple 12000 Lbs loads for a total of around 7800 Miles no problem to this point . Easy to install and remove I just keep it lubed for good trailer reaction and handling and go with no worries.
This product fit like it was made with my ram3500 limited edition . An works great. When I ordered I got the best help from Madison an from now on anything that I buy it will call her for the best help.thanks TonyP.
Exactly the item I wanted and has the quality you expect from Reese and etrailer. I understand that the Big Box website named after the river is the 800-pound gorilla in the room. However, if etrailer has what you want, check them out. They have knowledgable people to speak with if needed. Prices are close to the same and in my case, arrives faster than that other website.
Very satisfied with this ball. It is very easy to remove and install keeping the floor of my truck bed clear and usable when I'm not pulling a trailer.
The riser hitch has stood up to all the abuse I dished out. Most of my hauling has been on unpaved roads, and still going strong.
Extremely pleased with this product! It gives me the clearance needed so my bed liner doesn't get smashed up!
Fits my '16 Ram 2500 w/ factory tow pkg perfectly. Great product, great service.
Well made just like the normal size. Gives me 1" more clearance on the bed for my 5r.
Pricey though.
I bought this for use with my hay trailer. It requires a taller ball so that it will dump properly. Shipping was fast and the product works perfectly. Thank you!
Simple and fast. High quality product.
Fit as expected . nicely fabricated

solid, very heavy. Makes me wonder how dangerous pulling the tag trailers I have relying on a couple of bolts.

I had just recently installed the mopar oem gooseneck hitch onto my Ram 2500 and found out the ram oem gooseneck ball was recalled so I needed to find a replacement. The dealer was selling the curt gooseneck and chain tie downs for the puck system which my truck has but the problem was is that I liked the Reese gooseneck ball and the curt tie downs. my research found out that the Andersen chain loops didn’t close around the Reese model. So I decided to mix and match. I purchased the reese drop in gooseneck ball and the curt tie downs. They arrived two days after I made the order by phone. They said two days and it was two days exactly. When I opened the boxes the parts were neatly packaged with no damage. I am very happy.

My order came about because of Dodge RAM’s recall of their gooseneck ball. They don’t have an answer as to why the ball is not staying in place, or who the manufacturer is. I have a suspicion that Mopar is Reese. I’m pleased with what I received and how it installed, a great fit. Time will eventually show the product is fine and that those very few that have had issues more than likely made a hasty install and failed to take the time to give it a couple of tugs to insure a secure connection. Thanks for your great service.
