Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - 19261 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 19261. This is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with a 1-7/8" ball diameter. It's going to have a long shank. The gross towing weight on this ball is going to be 2,000 pounds. Again, the ball diameter is 1-7/8". The shank diameter, which is this portion here, is going to measure 1". That measurement is important to keep in mind when choosing a ball mount.

You want to make sure that the ball hole diameter on the mount matches the shank diameter of the hitch ball. If we take a measurement of the shank link, measuring from the bottom of the ball platform to the end of the threaded portion, that's going to give us a measurement of 3-3/16". Again, this is going to offer a capacity of 2,000 pounds. It's designed to fit draw bar thicknesses from 1" to 2" thick. It's going to feature the wrench flats here on the side. That's going to help you easily get everything tightened and torqued to specifications listed by the manufacturer.

When you get this hitch ball, you're going to get a nice instructional tag that's installed on the shank. You want to be sure to remove that. That's going to have instructions on it. It's also going to have the proper torque rating that you'll need. The hitch ball itself is made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a nice chrome plating, so it's designed to resist rust and corrosion.

You're also going to get the lock, washer, and the nut. Once you have this installed on your ball mount, you place the shank through the ball hole. Then under the platform of the ball mount is going to go the lock washer, followed by the nut. You can go and get everything hand tight. Then you'll need to get it torqued to specifications.

Again, that's going to be listed on that instructional tag that comes with the hitch ball. That's going to do it for our review of part number 19261. This is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with a 1-7/8" ball diameter. .

Just what I needed. For some reason The '98 Rams have an extra thick tow deck on the bumper. I have a tow package under the bumper but it is too low for the watercraft trailer I want to pull. I searched everywhere and found etrailer and Amazon had a listing for an 1-7/8 ball with a one inch shank at three inches long. Thanks to DrawTite. Any way Amazon cost almost twice as much "bottom line total" as etrailer. Can't beat that. Of course what can you say about ball hitches...its new and shiney! It works!
Thanks etrailer.com

I recently purchased a 2015 F150 with a factory bumper. It had never had a ball installed on it and I went and bought one locally. To my surprise, the shank on the ball was way too short to fit the bumper. It was only 2-1/8" long which just barely came to the bottom of the bumper. I checked and in my small town, there were no long shank hitch balls to be had. I went online and located etrailer.com and found what I needed. A chrome ball with a long shank. It arrived a few days later and now I can pull my trailer with my new truck. Thanks etrailer!

  • 1-7/8-Inch Hitch Balls to Fit Bumper on Ford F-150
You'll want to check the specs on your F-150 rear bumper to confirm its towing and tongue weight capacities before choosing a hitch ball like # 19261. An OEM bumper could have different capacities than an aftermarket bumper, for example. You can also at the same time check the shank size for the hitch ball hole to confirm what diameter and length is needed. Ford or the aftermarket bumper manufacturer should be able to recommend an appropriate hitch ball, or at least give you the shank...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 2 inch Hitch with 2-3/4 inches of Rise and 1-7/8 inch Ball
For a ball mount designed to fit a 2 inch hitch that has a 2-3/4 inch rise the part # 2753 would be a great option. Then for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball we have the part # 19261 that would be a great option. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • Does Going with a Longer Ball Mount Make Trailer Harder to Back Up
Going with a longer ball mount for your situation would be a great solution. The only real downside is that you might be more likely to bang your shin against the ball mount since it will be sticking out further, but the increased length does not make for difficulty backing the trailer up or decreased backing up angle. If anything the added length will make backing up the trailer a bit easier as the trailer will be less quick to jackknife and the added length if anything would allow you...

  • Extended Ball Mount Measurements and Compatibilities for a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country
You won't have any problems using the Super Extra Long Class III Ball Mount, # 80232, on your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country as long as you have a 2 inch receiver on your hitch. This ball mount has a 6000 lb gross trailer weight capacity and a 600 lb tongue weight capacity. Be sure you do not exceed the capacity of the lowest rated item while towing. You may also want a hitch ball, # 19247 or #19261. If you want to know the measurement for the extension, then you will want to start from...

  • How to Determine the Right Ball Size to Use to Tow a Boat Trailer
The size ball you need will depend on what the trailer coupler requires. If you look at the top of the coupler it should say the size ball it requires. Also, you will need a ball with the correct diameter shank to fit the ball hole in the ball mount. You will need to measure the ball hole to determine the shank size needed. For example ball mount # 2753 requires a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank such as # 63845 for a 2 inch or # 19261 for a 2-5/16 inch. Once you have those 2 pieces...

  • Hitch Ball Recommendation for Curt D-4 Trailer Hitch Ball Mount
You will need a ball that matches your trailer coupler. The required ball size should be stamped into the top of the coupler. For a 1-7/8 inch ball you will want hitch ball # 19261. For a 2 inch ball you will want # 63849. For a 2-5/16 inch ball you will want # C40007. I have included a FAQ article on choosing hitch balls for you to check out.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for Honda Pilot that Needs 4-1/4 inches of Drop
To tow your trailer level based on the dimensions you listed you are correct, you would want a ball mount that has 4-1/4 inches of drop. The closest drop we have would be 4 inches like the part # 2753. Since the rear suspension of your Honda Pilot will sag slightly with the tongue weight of your trailer this ball mount should be perfect. For a 2 inch ball you would want the # 63845 or for a 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19261.

  • Can Draw Tite Ball Mount 2753 be Used in Rise Position
Yes, the Draw Tite Ball Mount part # 2753 can be used in the rise position to gain more height. In the rise position this ball mount will give you 2-3/4 inches of rise. For a 2 inch ball you would want the part # 63845 and for a 1-7/8 inch ball we have the # 19261. I also attached a help article on how to pick out the correct ball mount rise/drop.

  • Can 2 Inch OEM Hitch Receiver on 2016 Ford Escape Be Used With Weight Distribution
You might be able to. Take a look at the rating sticker affixed to the hitch. It it lists two separate rating categories one with TW and GTW for towing and one with TW and GTW for weight distribution, then you can use a weight distribution hitch. If it only lists ratings for towing, then you cannot use weight distribution with that hitch. I verified these specs with Brophy and they are also available on their website if you wish. With this ball mount you can use a hitch ball with a 1-inch shank diameter, such as the 2-5/16-inch Diameter # 63847 or the 1-7/8-inch Diameter # 19261.

Sounds like the rental company has given out the coupler height of their trailer when level. Since we know that when the Curt hitch part # 13535 is installed on a 2004 Honda CR-V that the hitch height is 15-1/4 inches that means you would need a rise of right at 2-3/4 inches to tow their trailer level. The part # 2753 has a rise of 2-3/4 inches so it would be perfect. For a 2 inch hitch ball you'd want # 63845, for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball # 19261.
