Shipped and arrived quickly, and appears to be of good quality. A suggestion: like many others, I don't have a socket big enough for the nut, and my torque wrench only goes to 80 ft-lb (the spec calls for 160). I will have to go to a local garage and have them tighten the ball onto the ball mount. I would have been happy to throw eTrailer a couple of bucks or so to have them do this for me when they filled the order. Please consider offering this service.

This ball is made in China not USA as advertised. Steve did take care of it when I called and said he would have specs changed. All in all a good place to shop hopefully they will get another manufacturer for ball hitches made in USA

Nice quality 1-7/8" hitch ball with short shank that is long enough for the ball mount, but does not hang below the nut by much.

I bought this ball and drawbar to attach to my Polaris Sportsman ATV to pull my trailer around. The drawbar was a perfect fit to raise up the trailer and level it. Well made product, welded nicely to the smaller receiver bar and is perfect for what I needed. I would recommend this product.

Easy installation. Helps to have two people, however, I installed it alone with the help of jack stands. I highly recommend the Curt receiver. I have another Curt receiver on my 2011 Honda Accord that I also purchased from etrailer.com. I just finished hauling a load of bush and tree trimmings to the dump with my utility trailer. Attached is a close up photo of the receiver in use.

Absolutely stellar customer service 10/10 would recommend! Thanks so much for your assistance. Super knowledgeable stuff. Not so knowledgeable me.

- C40001
by:

The ball started to rust pretty quickly, even though I put a bit of grease on the ball and hitch before I ever used it. Functionally it is still a round hunk of metal that does it's job...it just doesn't look very good.

by:

awesome service and communication. product exactly as described.

- C40001

It is a ball. Nice and shiny. To torque it, install it on the drawbar, put the drawbar into a hitch, and torque.

These folks have great communication, and the best prices I've been able to find for the products I ordered. When I got the items, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The kits are complete and have everything needed. I'm quite happy with etrailer.com

Your basic ball hitch. Mine was much shinier than this, would have preferred a matte finish as the picture indicates.

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch Ball

  • Availability of 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball With a 1/2 Inch Diameter Shank
We can get you pretty close. The closest thing we offer would be the # CB10Z ball from CR Brophy that is a 1-7/8 inch ball with a 5/8 inch shank. If it's possible to enlarge that eye from 1/2 inch to 5/8, I'd recommend going that route. Since you'd only be increasing the hole size by about an 1/8 of an inch, you wouldn't need to worry about removing too much material from the pull bar.

  • Why are There Different Hitch Fits for the 2015 Jetta SE and TDI
The undersides of the two vehicles you referenced are different enough to need a different hitch for the SE and TDI models of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. If you look at the two pictures I attached you will see that there are quite a few differences. Especially on the passenger side. Since you have a non-TDI the only hitch I can recommend for you is the # C11474 which I attached an install video link for. • How to Install Curt Trailer Hitch Ball 40001 in a Ball Mount
To install hitch ball # C40001 you will need a wrench wide enough to fit around the wrench flats on the ball, a torque wrench good for up to 160 foot pounds and a socket for the nut. You could also use a bench vise if you do not have a wrench large enough. You can also put the ball mount in the hitch receiver side ways and then use the wrench and torque wrench to tighten it. If you do not have a torque wrench or socket large enough, many auto parts stores can loan out tools.
