Effortless Tongue Weight Management

Remember when gauging your trailer's tongue weight was such a hassle? It often involved wrestling with bathroom scales, which were far from accurate, or making a trip to the weigh station, which took time and effort. Or you had to buy a separate scale. With a Weigh Safe Hitch, it's super-simple. Just hook up your trailer to the ball mount like you would with any other hitch. The moment you connect, the weight of your trailer pushes down on the hitch ball, automatically giving you a measurement on the easy-to-read gauge. It's quick, hassle-free, and takes the guesswork out of towing. Now you can focus on the road ahead instead of worrying about whether your load is balanced.

The Weigh Safe Hitch can be used in either the drop or rise position to best suit your needs.

Video Transcript for Review of Weigh Safe Built In Scale Hitch 2 Stainless Steel Balls 3 Inch Receiver - WS55ZR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Weigh Safe built-in scale hitch with two stainless steel balls for your 3 inch trailer hitch receiver. This ball mount is going to slide into your 3 inch receiver, and it's going to give you a 2-5/16 inch and a 2 inch ball, and these balls are stainless steel, as I mentioned. And in this orientation, this hitch is going to give you a maximum drop of 10 inches. And then when you flip this hitch over, you're gonna get a maximum rise of 11 inches, and you'll have an incremental height adjustment of 1 inch, so this is going to give you that height adjustability that you're looking for, so you can tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. So when you use the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, you're gonna have a gross towing capacity of 21,000 pounds.

With the 2 inch ball, it's gonna be 8,000 pounds. And this has a maximum tongue weight of 2,200 pounds. And as you can see here, this does feature a tongue weight scale built right into the ball mount platform that's going to help you balance your trailer for safer towing. This scale is going to let you know if your load needs to be adjusted before you tow. It's gonna be a very simple operation.

This will automatically give you a measurement every time you couple your trailer, so it's efficient, it's fast, it's hassle-free, and it's gonna eliminate the need for separate or commercial scales. This also features this dual pin slider lock that's gonna make adjusting the height very simple. It includes this black rubber cover here that's gonna protect that keyway when it's not in use. As you can see here, you are going to receive four keys, and these keys are keyed alike. So the idea is you can use one key for the dual slider, the dual pin slider lock, or for the hitch pin lock, which we'll talk about in a minute.

But let me go ahead and insert the key here, give it a turn. And then that's going to allow me to easily remove this dual pin slider lock. The pins are constructed of aluminum, along with the housing. The lock, however, is plated steel, so this is gonna be very rugged and it's, again, gonna do a great job holding up against corrosion. So once I have those pins removed, you can see just how easy this is going to be to adjust to get that height that you're looking for.

Now when you are ready to swap out the ball, let me just show you how easy that's going to be. So you take them out off of the shank as you saw. And then what you're gonna do is you're either going to tip this like this, or if that pin doesn't come out, you can see that key ring there, you're just gonna pull this like that, so that pin is gonna come right out. And then I'm gonna take my 2-5/16 inch hitch ball out and swap it with the 2 inch ball. You wanna make sure that you line up the holes just like that. And then let me go ahead and replace the pin. And then you just wanna make sure that that ring is flush. And then I'll bring my shank back in and that's gonna slide right back on just like that. So, very easy to swap out the balls. And then I'm just gonna replace the dual pins here and make sure I got that locked in there. Yeah, it looks like I did, I lined it up right there. And then I'm gonna replace the cover. So I'm very impressed with just how easy it is to swap out the balls to get my height adjustment. You're not gonna spend any time behind your truck struggling to get what you need, the adjustability or the ball size, so everything's gonna operate very smoothly. So let's talk about this hitch pin lock here. This is, again, gonna be very simple to use, and this, it looks like my cap might have popped open here, that's gonna protect the keyway there, but let me go ahead and unlock this. I'll just give it a turn. And then what I wanted to mention about this lock, which I really like is you do not need the key inserted into the lock to lock this back into place. So I went ahead and locked this, removed the key as you saw. And then once you have this slid into your 3 inch hitch receiver, just slide the pin through, and then close it just like that, and then you're locked into place. So this hitch is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum. It's gonna give you that superior strength and durability. That solid block construction is going to give you greater strength than a lot of hollow steel options. And this is going to maintain that light weight, and that clean finish is going to stand the test of time. And just some measurements to give you in case you we inchesre wondering, measuring from the center of our hitch ball to the center of our first hitch pin hole, we're sitting at about 8-1/2 inches. And then moving over to the second hitch pin hole on center, about 9-5/8 inches. And then from the center of the second hitch pin hole to the end of the shank, about 1-7/8 inches. And this is going to be V5 and J684 certified. And I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
