Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Pro Series Trailer Ball Mount for two inch hitches. And this is a great option for those of you that tow a variety of different trailers or want to have the ability to, because there's three different ball sizes available with one ball mount. So that makes it great for being able to tow a trailer like this one day, and be able to swap over to something may be a little bit different the next day. So if during the week you're doing some work, around the house and need a work trailer, but on the weekend you want to cut loose and have some fun, and both trailers have two different sized couplers, not to worry, you're good to go. Now, this does not have a rise or drop, so just make sure when choosing this ball mount, that it measures with the coupler of your trailer and also with the hitch, and that way it's nice and even.
So hooked up to our work trailer right now, we have a two inch coupler. So we have it in a two inch configuration, and whenever we need to swap it over, it's as simple as rotating it, putting the pin back in, and we're good to go. So, let's take a closer look at it. Now, depending on the vehicle you have and maybe what kind of work you do, you might not always pull the same trailer, and to be able to have to swap over to a completely different ball mount just means that that's more ball mounts that you have to store and also purchase. Whereas this one, you have all three of them, they're already welded on.
They're one piece, so you don't have to worry about torquing them down at all. It's ready to drop in and go. Now, you will need a five eights pin and clip, and that way you can keep this obviously in place. You can see there's holes drilled throughout, and that way you can rotate and it's all lined up the same, making it super easy for your two inch hitch. Now, as far as weight capacities go, that clearly depends on which ball size you're using.
So, with our two inch ball that we had hooked up to our trailer, we're able to hold 6,000 pounds of gross trailer weight capacity, and that's gonna be the weight of the trailer, plus the accessories loaded up. Now, if we swap over to our inch and seven eights, that's gonna put us at 2000, and you can see our two and five sixteens is gonna be 10,000. So, you can really cover a wide spectrum of trailers from all the way down to 2000 up to 10,000, depending on that ball size. Now also going along with those gross trailer weight ratings, you do have tongue weight ratings that are also gonna go with that, and it's gonna be pretty much 10% of each of these capacities. So your 2,000 pounds will be 200, 6,000 is obviously 600, and your 10,000 is going to be a thousand for that tongue weight.
So, just make sure that not only are you checking the capacities of your ball mountain, but also the hitch, the trailer, and what the vehicle can tow, and take the lowest of all those numbers and that way, you're staying safe, you don't wanna overload any of the components. Our shank is hollow, which is really nice, because it makes it a little bit lighter because you do have three balls on the end of it. So for storing it inside your vehicle or in the back of your truck, it's gonna make it a little bit easier and a little less heavy to have to put in each time. You also have a steel construction so it's really sturdy, and it has also got that black powder coat finished to keep it looking nice with chrome plated balls. So even if you leave this on your vehicle year round, it's gonna look good and hold up to those elements. Now, something you're also gonna want to check is making sure that you have clearance, that the ball sticks out far enough to be able to hook up your trailer with your vehicle configuration. And from the center of our hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, it's gonna be eight inches. So, you might wanna take a measurement, on your vehicle just to make sure that it's gonna work with your trailer. And that was a look at the Pro Series Ball Mount with three different ball sizes for two inch hitches.
