Works well, I dont use it for very heavy loads but I like that not having to carry extra mounts for my different trailers.e-trailer is the best!! Had a blowout, needed a tire could not find one in any store, we were passing the area on a Sunday no less I was met at the side door with a tire.

I am very pleased. The guides arrived very quickly -like two days -and were easy to install. I have ordered everything for my used trailer including spare tire, trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount. The ball mount gave me an 8in rise which is what I needed for my Toyota Tacoma. Etrailer follows up and does a great job. 602903

Excellent service from etrailer. This product seems very sturdy. One should always adhere to load limitations.Given the rating of 500 lbs hitch and 5000 lbs. Gross tow, I have no doubt the product will deliver. When purchasing a hitch or drawbar.....the user should be aware that anything CAN be broken with enough force applied. That 5000 lbs limit should be given proper attention. Most trailers with 2 axles could overload this drawbar. Most full size pickups weigh more than 5000 lbs. A mid-sized sedan or crossover gets very close. 177650

I was very pleased to have found this product at etrailer. I couldn't find one that had this much versatility in my home town. I have a Ram 4x4 truck that sits higher up than a normal truck, and this is exactly what I was looking for. I needed more drop and this one is perfect for my needs. Also, thanks to etrailer for expediting the shipping at no extra cost to me. I now will be able to use this hitch for a variety of trailers without having to switch receivers constantly! Well made and less expensive than ordering from hometown stores. 521631

There's a lot of choice for adjustable ball mounts and I bought this one based on price versus the low weight loads I intend to use it on. First impressions are that it's a well made, easy to use, sturdy product. It's only been fitted for 24hrs so I'll report back once it's been used to tow something. 545107

Two trailers, significantly different heights . Makes it easy to swap to the right height. The description seems to say you cant get a drop of less than 5 inches, but you really can, if you look carefully at the pictures on the product page. 803258

I really like the adaptability of this trailer hitch. I tow multiple height trailers from two different height vehicles and needed something that wouldn't cause me to have to carry several different height hitches. It was slightly lose when I first received it so I ran a couple thin beads of weld on a few spots then ground them down until they fit really snug and now it is extremely solid and I recommend having someone do this if you do buy this hitch. Prior to that it was loud. Its been very durable. Occasional use with a small utility trailer with no more than 1k Lbs total weight but I use it to mostly tow a boat once or twice a week in the summer for about a 30 minute drive each way. The boat/trailer/gear is approximately 3600 lbs with a tongue weight around 200 and I have rarely towed anything much heavier with this receiver and it seems to be holding up well. 800668

Ask the Experts about this MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for MaxxTow Adjustable Ball Mount # MT70067
The clearances are actually pretty tight between the adjustable channel, shank, and pins of the MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount # MT70067 which means it would move a little bit but would not be a super obnoxious rattle. To get rid of the movement between the hitch and the shank of this ball mount though we have the # 63232 which would work well. This doubles as a hitch lock too.

  • Ballmount Rise/Drop Needed for Towing Rental Car Dolly with 2015 Dodge Charger
The closer you can get the hitch ball height to the level height of the trailer (tow dolly in your case), the better. Towing the trailer nose up or down can cause trailer sway, which you'll want to avoid. For best results, you'll want to get the coupler and ball height within 1-1/2 to 2 inches, and it's better to have the coupler slightly lower than the trailer ball than vice versa. A ballmount with a 7-inch rise like # C45338 would put you right where you need to be, height wise. If...

  • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for the Ball Mount Platform of MaxxTow Ball Mount part # MT70067
What you could use as an anti-rattle device for the ball mount platform of the MaxxTow Adjustable Ball Mount part # MT70067 would be the SoftRide Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin # SR25219. You would just need to replace one of the pins with this. I attached a review video for this anti-rattle device. You could use another # SR25219 for the shank in the hitch, or you could use the # RM-061 that you referenced.

  • Adjustable Ball Mount Option that Can do Drop of 10 inches and is Cost Effective
Clearance issues with the collar lock style of trailer couplers are not typical. I'd be inclined to believe the issue is related to the ball mount you have now not having the clearance. We have the MaxxTow adjustable ball mount # MT70067 which can do a drop of up to 10 inches and is priced really great. This gives a very standard ball mount platform too so clearance would not be an issue. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank With 10 inch Rise
Since you said the weight of the tongue on your trailer is causing your towing vehicle front end to lift up, it sounds like you do need weight distribution to even the system out. Most ball mount platform thicknesses are about the same on ball mounts like the MaxxTow part # MT70067 that you referenced. It's not typically something that needs to be accounted for when picking out a hitch ball for a ball mount like this. For a 2 inch hitch ball the part # 40038 would work really well or for 2-5/16 inch you'd want # 63847 which both have the correct diameter shank plus are also long enough to easily fit the ball mount platform thickness of the # MT70067.

Then with the trailer level, measure the distance from the underside of the trailer coupler to the ground. The difference between the measurements...
