This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,600 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Gen-Y Stacked Receivers Torsion 2-Ball Mount Review

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, will be taking a look at our Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount with the stacked receiver for three inch hitches right here at etrailer. So this is a Gen-Y Torsion, because this helps absorb that movement. So when you're driving around, you have something hitched up, there is gonna be chucking, there is gonna be movement, but this helps absorb that movement rather than moving it all around. The way this does that is you do have bushings inside of there. So you're gonna have these tubes with the rubber cords on there, so as it rises and falls, it helps absorb that, but it also prevents it from twisting too far, and rather than air bags that you have to fill up and maintain, this all works inside the ball mount, you do have some zerk fittings, which can help maintain for the long term. And so, if you don't wanna deal with air bags, you want something you can just pop into your hitch and then go, this might work out for you.

Now, this is designed for different situations, so let's take a look at some measurements to see if it'll work for you. So this provides a rise as well as a drop. So you have a maximum drop of six inches and a maximum rise of three inches. So just double check for yours, remember, we measure at the top inside edge of your hitch receiver to see how much drop or how much rise you might need. So here's where you make those adjustments.

You can see here how we have two pins and two clips, these ones you have to just turn and then you can pull them out, and then, once you take those pins out, you can then move the ball mount into whichever receiver you need for a specific drop or specific rise. Now, let's take a look at that ball mount first. Notice how this has two hitch balls, and you've got your two inch with a maximum capacity of 16,000 pounds, and then you have your 2 5/16 with a maximum capacity of 21,000 pounds. So pick which one or which size you need and pop it right into your 2 1/2 inch receiver. Not only do you have 2-ball mount options, but you also have this pintle hook lock.

So we have this in the storage position now, but once you drop your pintle hook trailer in there, you just unclip this, take this pin out, and then you can now lock that into place and secure it again with your included pin. So that helps secure that trailer, gives you some different options, so you kinda get three different options there instead of just two. So definitely a durable and heavy-duty ball mount, you have this hammered powder coat finish, and everything really is designed to hold up to the elements and pretty much stay on your hitch, because as easy as it is to switch the ball mount around for your different rise, drop, as well as ball mount sizes, this is a hefty ball mount. So if you wanna take this out of your hitch, put it back in multiple times, probably not gonna be the best fit for you, this is something you'll just wanna leave on there, and it can stand up to it. Here in the corner, we actually have an included tongue weight scale.

So the optimum tongue weight is gonna be within your 1,600 to your 2,400 pound. Now, that's with your 2 5/16 ball mount, but you can double check right here, as long as your white marker is within the green, you're good. So there is some adjustment within the shank for how close or how far you wanna get it to your hitch receiver. So we have the furthest one away, closest point from the center of our hitch pin hole is gonna be about 4 1/2 inches, we can scoot it in two more inches, and that's only gonna be 2 1/2 inches away. So that's something to consider like on our motorhome here if you wanna make sure you reduce that contact with your fascia. Now, for the total distance added, that is center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the ball mount, I have it at around 19 3/8 of an inch. Now, you can reduce that distance added by either pushing in the ball mount or taking off the ball mount platform. So if you want a heavy-duty ball mount that also provides some shock absorption, this definitely helps out with that. Hopefully, this video guided you through that process, you could see how much rise, how much drop you have. If you want something that absorbs even more shock, you may wanna check out the Shocker Hitch option. That one does have airbags on it that you do have to maintain, but they also provide a bit more absorption. Now, on that one, the Shocker Hitch option does not have that rise and the drop option for you, so that something worth considering. Also, since you do have a three inch hitch receiver, your options are limited, so this definitely gets the job done, but also, gives you that adjustability. So check out our product pages and videos, we also have more measurements, more specs there if you really want a deep dive, and so that you can compare with other ball mount options. But this right here right now is a look at the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Adjustable Mount where you have the different stacked receivers for your three inch hitch receivers right here at etrailer..

Thank you.

Great hitch .. quality built.

Purchased the GH-1825 model for my 2022 F350.

My first impression, "This thing is a beast"!

The quality surpassed my expectations with off the chart marks. The quality is important to me because this purchase was an upgrade. I didn't want to waste my hard earned money. I did my research and landed with the GH-1825 model after weeks of internet video reviews and various websites. I also didn't want to have regrets and buy the other models and "wish" I would have gone bigger.

My plan is to use this Boss hitch to pull whatever I want and need; it's certainly well capable.

My old hitch was very limited in its capabilities, I certainly don't have that issue now.

Thank you GenY!

I won't repeat what's already been stated. Indeed, the last hitch you will purchase! It's a heavy beast - shipping weight was 138 pounds!

My load towing with this is actually a bit under-rated for the sweet-spot of this hitch, but I did not want to use a reducer on my 2019 F-450 to operate the lower-rated Gen-Y. It has definitely made a positive difference on rough terrain (especially off-road). In my case it is mainly to prevent the truck from roughing up the trailer with it's super-stiff nature. Of course this functions in either/any fashion.

This will absolutely cover anything you could ever possibly tow with a conventional style trailer. Anything heavier and you'd be looking at gooseneck (which they also make a torsion hitch for - which I am also strongly considering).

Not any fault of the hitch, but it will set off your reverse proximity sensors. No way around that with a hitch of this size.

I would suggest that it be mentioned that use of this hitch is probably going to require most users to extend their safety chains a good bit. I had 24inch chains with a standard hitch and they fit fine, but this Gen-Y required me to use 38inch chains minimum to not only make it to the receiver chain openings, but to also make it around the hitch itself!

Just thought that it might be helpful to others to know that. Luckily I had some longer Grade 70 chains already!

Overall, no complaints what so ever. I know what if someone happens to rear-end my truck they are going to get an engine block full of Gen-Y (sort of passive perk I say).

Best improvement I've made on this toterhome pulling 20K trailer. because of the way this 13'4" tall trailer used to porpoise hard on bad roads, loud banging shock loads on the hitch, I constantly feared structural failure. Now I don't hear or feel the trailer at all!!. Smooth.

Super high quality hitch and locking pins! Excellent finish and customer service!
