Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Gen-Y Phantom X Hitch Ball Mount

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this Gen-Y Phantom X stacked receiver adjustable ball mount. So what's this gonna allow you to do is if you have trailers of different sizes matched up to your truck, you can just easily move the ball to one of the different receivers and adjust that height. Let's check it out. It's really easy to adjust the height of your ball mount. So you're just gonna turn the clip, pull it off, remove the pin, and now you can move it up and down, adjust the height you need.

So you're gonna have seven and a half inches of rise and drop with this. So right now we're in the drop position with most of the assembly being down here, and then we can actually pull the clip and pin up here at the hitch level, turn around and put it in the rise position. Now it does fit a two inch by two inch hitch. We have a reducer on our two and a half inch here today. So that makes it a two inch hitch.

Line that up. Replace our pin in the hitch. It also doesn't come with its own hitch pin so you have to get one yourself and then it's in the rise position where you can adjust the ball for a higher trailer setting. As I mentioned before it does not come with its own hitch pin. So I'd pick one up separately.

I recommend getting a locking hitch pin. InfiniteRule makes some you get that's gonna work here in the hitch and in the assembly as well. So that way you can lock the whole thing to your hitch and then keep the accessory in place too when you're not around. You won't get a ball with the assembly either. You'll have to buy that separately.

Just make sure you have one that has a diameter of one inch so it fits in the opening of the accessory. Then you're going to put the lock washer and nut on and torque it down to the specifications. Another recommendation would be another accessory from Gen-Y. It's gonna be the dual ball set up. So this is gonna work just like the standard ball accessory we have except now all in one, you have a two inch and then a two and five sixteenths inch. So you have two different sized couplers on two different trailers. You don't have to have two of these in the back of your truck. You have this set up you don't also have to tighten anything down or torque it. It's all ready to go once you pin it. One nice thing is the receiver is offset. So we have one that's above. So if you have slight adjustments to make you can either put the ball here or up one. You don't have to flip the whole assembly every time for a slight adjustment. I like that. The whole thing's being made of a sturdy steel construction with a black powder coat finish on there. So if you leave it out in the elements you don't have to worry about it rusting or corroding. Overall, I like how easy it is to use the adjustable ball mount. Just remove that clip and the pin, move it up and and down. Get that height adjustment just right. There are other options out there when it comes to adjustable ball mounts though. There is also the B&W Tow and Stow. That one's gonna stay in line so it doesn't have all the receivers. It moves up and down along the assembly and it can also go flip up under the truck. So this is something you're gonna leave in the back of your hitch all the time. You don't want it sticking out. You can get that option so you don't hit your shin on this or just run into it when you're not using it. Now Gen Y also has their own version of that. It's another Phantom that flips up underneath. So I suggest checking out that one as well if you wanna stay with the Gen Y sturdy design and still get this out of the way when not in use, that is an option as well. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.

I love this hitch adjustable for every situation!

Purchased this to lower my bike rack to a level I could lift my e-bike. Easy to install and I was able to load my bike. Shipped the same date I ordered it. I haven't driven down the road with it yet so I'm anxious to see how the bike rides.

by:

This looks like what I wanted. Minor miss is that the picture suggests that one hitch pin is included. However, there are no pins included. This point was not real clear in the written description. I may have more to say after I try it out.

by:

like height adjustment, overall very happy with product. Only issue I had is bought cargo hauler that would not fit in hitch without driving it in but not sure a hitch problem. Good product.

by:

Beautiful function, fit and finish. The little extra length of the Hitch seems to improve hard turn backing.

by:

Great product, the only problem I had was, had to file down corners so receiver fit inside.

by:

Amazing and versatile product.

  • Is There a Dual Hitch Receiver With 6-8 Inches of Drop and More Than 500LB Tongue Weight Capacity?
You will need one of our Gen-Y stacked receivers to have multiple receivers capable of more than 500lbs of tongue weight. The Adjustable Ball Mount for 2" Hitches part # TK5007 is a great economical adjustable ball mount option. It however is made overseas. • Hitch Capable of Connecting Trailer and With Slot For Inserting Winch For Pulling Vehicle on Trailer
I have a recommendation for you Kevin as the top receiver on the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210 is only designed to carry the load of a hitch mounted accessory. It is not rated for a line pull like you will have with a winch. The receiver itself does not have a specific tongue load rating but the entire assembly should not have more than 750lbs of total tongue weight between the trailer and hitch mounted accessory. The Gen-Y Phantom X Adjustable Ball Mount w/Stacked Receivers # GY99VR...

  • How To Determine The Correct High/Low Adapter For Flat Towing A Jeep By The D-Ring Mounts
There's about a 3" threshold from level that your tow bar can be and still safely tow your vehicle. The brand of the high/low adapter doesn't matter so you could use a different brand if you wanted to. Since you have a 7" difference the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-076 you were looking at would place you into the safe zone. If you tow multiple trailers that require a high/low adapter you could use the Gen-Y Ball Mount w/Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-314 which has 5 different...
