Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 3 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 3 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. Insert a bike rack or cargo carrier. Mount a spare tire carrier. Use a tow bar to flat tow your vehicle. Or just add a fun hitch cover.

Video Transcript for Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers Review

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Gen-Y Adjustable Two Ball Mount with a rise or drop of five inches in a two inch hitch receiver. When you're hauling something, you wanna make sure your trailer is the same height as your hitch receiver just to make things a lot safer when you are hauling whatever you're carrying. So what's nice about this system in particular is since it has that rise or drop of five inches, this can adapt for a lot of different types of trailers and sizes. So what's gonna come with this system today is we're gonna have three hitch receivers on here. That's what's gonna give you a different variety of rise and drops, and that's where your ball mount's gonna go right into. You'll notice we have two of them.

The top one is gonna be our larger one, and that's gonna be a two in five 16ths inch ball mount, capable of carrying or hauling 16,000 pounds. And its tongue weight is gonna be 2000 pounds. Now it is important to the note, when you are hauling with this, make sure your vehicle is capable of hauling with that. And then below we're gonna have our smaller ball and that's gonna be a two inch ball amount, capable of carrying up to 12,000 pounds and going to have a tongue weight of 1500 pounds. And over at the housing of the system, you'll notice we have two pins.

There's pins that are also gonna have these safety clips on them. Now what I do like about these safety clips are that they're easy to use. So all you have to do is pull on it and twist and they come right off. Now sometimes if you get it right here, it could get in the way. So just try to make sure you do it in an open area, it comes right off.

And to put them back in place, you just gotta line it up with the pin. They go on just about as easy. You just gotta make sure it's in the right orientation, just like that. And then finally we're gonna have this pintle lock at the top. The way that pintle lock works is, when you put your lunette ring around your ball mount, it's gonna prevent it from bouncing up and coming off the ball mount itself.

Now to access that area to put your lunette ring on, you'll actually have to move this pintle lock out of the way. So how you do that is just by removing this pin, pushing it back. And if you don't plan on using this at all, you can actually lock it back here and it'll get it outta your way. And then we also now have the option of flipping this over. We'll have to remove that secondary pin to access that ball mount. Sometimes if you have a weird angle, these pin safety eclipse can be a little tricky to get out. But if you work with it a bit, you'll be able to pour it right off. And look at that. You can it over just like that. And you'll notice it'll stop in place because we do have that collar around here with the stopper, making it a lot easier to line up these pins to our holes. Now the position it is right now is giving you a five inch rise, but you can flip it around, get that five inch drop. And gonna do that, I'm just gonna remove my pin and lock. Now the system does not come with a pin or safety clip, so if you want to put this on here, I highly suggest investing in one. Now you can get the Gen-Y Pin and Safety Clip, but you could also get the pin and then lock tube. So if you have this on the back of the vehicle, I just suggest investing a little bit more for more security. But once you have that off, then you can pull this right out of here, flip it around. Now it is kind of heavy, just keep that in mind, and push it right back in. And now you get that five inch drop. To give you an idea of how this is gonna sit on the back of your vehicle, the total length is gonna add to your system. From that hitch pin hole to the end of the ball mount is gonna be 12 and a quarter inches. Now if you don't have the ball mount on here, then that total length is just gonna be nine and an eighth. And then the overall height it's gonna add to the back is gonna be eight inches tall. This is gonna be constructed from a very durable steel, and the housing itself is gonna have the zinc primer to it and this epoxy powder coat finish. So not only will it be very durable, but it's also gonna be corrosion resistant. And as for the ball mount itself, it's just gonna have that black powder coat finish to it so it'll also be corrosion resistant as well. While I do like the powder coat we do have on this, it can get in the way sometimes. We've had this test fitted on a few different vehicles and that power coat finish has been pretty thick, making it kind of difficult to stick into our hitch receiver. Or in some cases, some people have had issues trying to get their pintle lock into one of these receivers as well. You just have to find a way to work around it and get these in here. But today I haven't had any issues with that. Overall, this can be a great system for anyone who's looking for something that's gonna be well constructed and very versatile, especially if you are hauling a lot of different types of trailers, whether they are bearing heights or they use different types of couplings. But that's just a look at some of the features of the Gen-Y Adjustable Two Ball Mount. Thanks for coming by etrailer.

Insert this heavy-duty mount into your 2" hitch to get 3 stacked 2" receivers for mounting the included 2" ball, 2-5/16" ball, pintle hook, or other hitch-mounted accessory.

I wanted to be able to tow any trailer with a single hitch and that is why I purchased this model. Any size ball and pintle hitch all in one implement is great.... the drawback, this thing weights a lot. I don't like leaving the hitch on the truck if I'm not towing, but this thing is too heavy to move and I'm worried about this much weight bending the toolbox on the truck if I hit a bump.

For measurement purposes... This is a 2000 F-350 4x4 on stock 16" rims and tires and a CM flatbed. I got the 5" drop\rise model and it looks like it is going to be great. In case i need it, I added the 1 7/8" ball to the drawbar. When I can afford to get three matched key pins I will order them.

Best hitch on the market . I have them on 33 trucks

Great receiver
The drop was perfect for
motorhome to tow our car. I have 13,000 miles of towing with it and not one issue.
Would definitely buy it again.

Industrial! The last hitch you'll ever need. I have owned it a year in Northern Michigan and the finish is still like new even with our road salt. I especially like the locking clips for the ball pin.

Just received my new hitch and my first impressions is that this is a very stout hitch. The hitch is very heavy, so I won’t be taking it off and on much. I’ll leave the stacked receiver on the truck, I had a locking pin to secure it to the truck. I will store the 2-ball mount in the cab for now until I get some locking pins. Don’t want to become a victim of theft! When I obtain the locking pins, I will leave the balls attached. If you want a very stout adjustable hitch, I definitely recommend this Gen-Y hitch. Can’t wait to test it out on the road!

The Gen-Y hitch is a beast and should last forever. It weights approx 55 lbs. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet and I hope that it doesn’t rust like I have seen in some reviews on YouTube etc. My big disappointment is the fact that it does not take my 2 1/2” to 2” sleeve (the 2 ball mount is 2 1/2”) so I can use another hitch with it to move a small trailer that rides lower than this hitch goes. I even talked to someone at Gen-Y to verify that it would work. They said it would. IT DOES NOT. To much pain to send it back. I’m sure I would have to pay shipping.

  • Recommended 2-5/16" Pintle Hook and Ball Combo for 2" Hitch with Drop
I do have an option for you but in order to get a pintle hook and hitch ball combo with a drop, you'll need to go adjustable. The Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers part # 325-GH-523 has everything you need (2-5/16" Hitch Ball, 2" Hitch, 16K Capacity, 5" Drop) and works great with heavy duty towing setups.

  • Options for Towing a Boat Trailer and Carrying a Bike Rack
I may have a solution for you, however, our ball mount manufacturers do not currently offer a dual hitch receiver with a 4 inch drop. One possible solution would be to use a longer ball mount with a 4 inch drop like the Curt Extra Long Ball Mount, # D-26, and use a towing bike rack like the Swagman XP Towing Bike Rack, # S64955. This bike rack wraps around the shank of the ball mount and can carry up to 3 bikes. The tongue weight capacity of the Hidden Hitch ball mount is 600 lbs, so...

  • Can Gen-Y Phantom Adjustable 2 Ball Mount Be Used With Pintle Hitch
According to Gen-Y, the Phantom Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # GY98XR is not rated for use with a pintle hitch. If you want to use a pintle hitch you will need the regular Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers. Although this does not come with a 6" rise/drop for a 2" receiver, we do have a 5" rise drop # 325-GH-523 or 7-1/2" # 325-GH-524 available. Both of these come with the pintle lock.

  • Alternative Hitch Receiver to the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210
I do have a solution for you, but unfortunately we do not have any Multipurpose Ball Mounts like the Curt # D210 that feature a 4" drop. Instead what you can use is a Gen-Y adjustable ball mount like part # 325-GH-523 which has a 5" drop /rise and a 16K weight rating. If you are within 1" of the rise/drop needed for your towing application then you can use the ball mount. This means that you can use the included ball mount in the lowest position thich frees up the top receiver opening...

  • Trailer hitch riser
An adjustable ball mount like the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-523 will give you the tongue weight you are looking for but only available rise is 2-1/2" or 5". I realize not exactly what you are looking for but is closest option we have at the moment.
