Specs:
This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 5 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.
Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.
Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.
Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.
This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.
This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 5 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.
Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.
With the 5 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories.
Because this mount has such a significant drop, a stabilizer kit is included to prevent any wobble and to keep the mount stable and sturdy as you tow. Simply bolt or weld the brackets onto your truck's frame, and connect the stabilizer bars to the back of the Gen-Y mount. The stabilizer bars can easily be adjusted to span the distance between your vehicle's frame and the Gen-Y ball mount.
If you remove the mount from your hitch, the stabilizer bars can be disconnected from the brackets using the included pins and clips so that you can remove the bars from your vehicle as well.
Note: Because of how the stabilizers install on the ball mount, this mount should only be used in the drop position.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Gen-Y Torsion Two-ball mount with stacked receivers. This is going to allow you to hook your trailer up to your taller tow vehicle. This will slide right into your two-and-a-half inch by two-and-a half inch trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle. And then it's gonna provide several different ways to hook up to your trailer. So if you are gonna be switching between trailers, you've got a two-inch ball, a two-and-five-sixteenth inch ball or the ball paired with the pintle lock if you have a lunette ring on your trailer.
So several different ways you can connect there. This is a very heavy duty steel construction. Gen-Y does have a great reputation for building very solid, robust products and this is no exception. It is very heavy duty. So it is going to hold up well for you.
For your two-inch ball, you're gonna have a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds. For your two-and-five-sixteenth inch ball, you're gonna have a gross towing weight capacity of 21,000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 2,400 pounds. And your optimum ride tongue weight is gonna be between 1,600 pounds and 2,400 pounds. And the reason they give that range there is because of the torsion functionality that's gonna help absorb your shock. So you wanna make sure you're within that right range so it's going to do a good job of absorbing that.
Now this does functions similar to a torsion axle if you're familiar with that concept. So at each of our pivot points here, we're going to have a square tube like this inside. And so as that pivots, you also have these rubber cords on each side and those cords are going to help absorb that motion so that the shock isn't transferred from your trailer up to your tow vehicle and vice versa. So it is going to give you a much smoother ride. And one of the really nice things about that design is that unlike other systems that use airbags, this is going to have fewer moving parts to maintain, replace, repair, that sort of thing.
So it is going to be very low maintenance for you. They do have some grease zerks built in that you can grease up those pivot points. But other than that, pretty much set it and forget it kind of thing. So very easy to maintain. We do have our five stacked receivers here. And these are two-and-a-half inch by two-and-a-half inch receivers. So they are going to accept your included ball mount and pintle lock, as well as your other hitch mounted accessories. They also include two of these five-eighth inch diameter pins and clips to hold your ball mount and pintle lock in place. And so the nice thing about having those five stack receivers is that it's going to allow you to adjust the height to accommodate trailers with different ride heights. Make sure that the trailer's gonna stay nice and level. So it's as simple as pulling out the pintle clip and then moving that ball up to where you need it to be. At the tallest setting here, we're going to have a minimum drop of six inches. We measure that from the top inside edge of your receiver tube, or the top of your shank here, to your ball platform, which is about where your coupler's gonna sit. So if you have this ball mount in the top receiver tube there, you're gonna have about a six-inch drop. So if your trailer sits about six inches lower than your hitch, that will work for you. But then at the lowest one, it's gonna be a 18-inch drop. So that's gonna be very significant. So definitely for your taller trucks, you're wanting to hook up to your trailer, and that's gonna give you 18 inches to work with there. But because that is such a significant drop, they do include the stabilizer kit. That's going to help prevent any wobbling. Make sure that the mount is stable and sturdy as you tow. This is a very simple bolt-on or weld-on application. So you can just mount these brackets onto your truck's frame here. And then that's going to allow you to connect the stabilizer bars to the back of the mount here. And these can be removed. If you want to take off your system, you just pull out the pin and clip here at the top. These brackets will stay connected and then you'll just be able to remove the arms there. And these can be adjusted from 24 inches up to 33 inches to span that distance between your vehicle's frame and the ball mount here. One thing to note is because this does have such a major drop, you can only use it in the drop position. You won't be able to flip it over and use it in the rise position. This does have a zinc primer and a powder coat finish that's gonna help resist corrosion. The ball mounts, pintle locks do have a matte black finish and that's going to look really nice for you. And this is SAE J684 certified. So you can trust it is gonna hold up well for you. And it is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's gonna be good quality. So overall, a really great option here to help absorb some of that shock. And give you that sturdy big drop that you need for your taller trucks. That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
