Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Gen Y two-ball mount for two-inch hitch receivers. Now this ball mount has the built-in hitch balls that'll let you hook up to your trailer to your tow vehicle. Basically, this shank portion here is what'll slide into your two-inch hitch receiver and the ball will provide the connection point for your trailer coupler. Now if you notice this ball includes two hitch balls to fit your application. You can tow up to 10,000 pounds with either the 2-inch diameter ball or the 2 5/16 diameter ball.
The two different size hitch balls will let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes and it's pretty easy to pick which ball size you need. All you have to do, if you want the 2 5/16, you just insert this in, put your pin and clip in and you're ready to go. If you need the 2-inch, just take your pin and clip out, slide it out, flip it over, just like that, and then slide it in that way and you have the 2-inch ball ready to use. So it's very simple to change the ball size. Now this is a durable steel construction.
They use a zinc primer first and then an epoxy powder coat on it to resist corrosion. Now the hitch pin hole right here is 5/8 of an inch diameter. Now it does not come with a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those we do sell separately on our website if you do need one. This part is made in the U.S.A.
Now a few specs on this, we're gonna give you the capacities. If you use the 2-inch diameter ball, the gross towing weight capacity is 10,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is gonna be 1500 pounds. If you flip it over and you use the 2 5/16 diameter ball, same gross towing weight of 10,000 pounds but your tongue weight will be 2000 pounds. Overall length on this from this end to this end and see if we put a ruler on it that's gonna be right at 12 inches total length.
And then I do want to give you a distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the balls. So basically if we go center to the center of the ball it's gonna be 8 3/8 inches. But that should do it for the review on this Gen Y two-ball mount for 2-inch hitch receivers.

If you want the best most heavy duty hitch made in the U.S.A anything Gen-Y is what you should get. When I bought my new Tacoma I got this and it is way overkill to tow a horse trailer with a total loaded weight of 4600 pounds.How ever this hitch weighs about 50 pounds solid bar and the finish is the best I've seen.This is the company I trust but the other American brands are great also Gen-Y is just a cut above in my opinion.
It's really difficult to find a 10k rated 2 inch ball hitch. I replaced my last 7.5k hitch because it had alot of work on it and would rather be proactive and replaced/upgraded the hitch before my old old failed.
I needed a beefy hitch receiver and this fits the bill with gusto! VERY convenient having all three ball sizes available at once, too! A real confidence builder!

The ball mount I purchased is very well built and should give many years of flawless service. Was glad to find hitch with 3 ball sizes so I didn't have to buy multiple hitches.
Very heavy Duty! Balls are welded on so don't need to worry about nuts coming loose. Had the highest tough weight of 3000 lbs and 21000 lbs towing capacity for the 2 5/16 ball. Great ball mount if you pull heavy trailers with 1 ton or dually that has the high bumper pulling capacity.
Hitch works great really heavy duty and kind of over kill. Gen Y makes good quality hitches
Looks well built. While at Tractor Supply this evening discovered that I could have bought same rated hitch from another manufacturer for a few less dollars. Oh well

Love the 16K capacity. Only reason for 4 stars, the receiver pin hole is only 2.5" from the end of the shaft. Would be even more stable if it was 3". We are using it as a straight ball hitch directly into the truck's hitch. Etrailer offered superior service in helping us find this HD straight ball mount.
Tow a 15,000lb trailer with this hitch almost daily. It has been in use for right at a year and shows no sign of giving up anytime soon. These are the only hitches i buy from here on out, they have been put on all 22 of our trucks!
Strong hitch at a good price. Never use the 1 7/8” ball but I wish the 2 in ball and 2 5/16 were at 90 degrees to each other instead of 180. When my dump trailer is loaded tongue heavy and I’m on a hill it bottoms out sometimes.
