What's up everybody. It's AJ with http://www.etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Gen-Y Rebel Ball Mount Series. It's gonna be the Offset 5K one. So they're gonna be able to handle up to 5,000 pounds. And like I said, they're all gonna have different rise and drops.
And offsets. So that means it's gonna have the ability to move the ball and put it up here, instead of flipping it every time. So if you have one of these ball mounts that's adjustable already and you find yourself taking it out and flipping it around just to get that height or drop quite a bit. And you realize, you know what, maybe if I get one of these, it's already set up like that. With this one right up here, if this all the height you need, you don't have to flip it around anymore.
You can just pull this out, slide in the top, or move it down here for whatever trailer you're gonna use. Let's check it out. Looking at 'em side by side, just wanna show your options. This one's gonna have a 6 1/2 inch drop with a five inch rise. And this one over here is gonna have a nine inch drop with a seven inch rise.
So those are your options to go with. They're both ready for 5K. So, you don't have to worry about any of that changing. It's just depending on how much of a rise or drop you actually need. The whole thing's made out of black powder coat steel, so it's gonna hold up out in the elements if you leave it in your hitch on your truck.
You don't have to worry about the rain getting into it or not. It's not gonna rust or corrode. Or you're not gonna have any issues. The other thing is that the ball mount, it does come with this section of it. It does not come with the ball. So you have to buy that separately. So whether you need a two inch or a 2 5/16 inch, it can handle either one. Now, something I would suggest, if you do have two different trailers. Maybe your trailer has a two inch ball and a 2 5/16 ball. You can get a second one of these ball mounts. Put that ball on that one and you can easily just pop out, swap whichever one you need. You don't have to take out this whole assembly and lug it around. It's just quick and easy to get that switched out and get your trailer hooked up. One of the other futures I really like about this is it can also accept your other two inch by two inch accessories. So we have the step from Gen-Y here too. You can just slide that in. Pin it, just like you would in your normal two inch by two inch hitch. Since it fits the same thing, you can use different accessories out here. And like I've said a few times, you don't have to swap out this huge assembly every single time and lug that around. It's so nice to just pull that pin, put the accessory in, and then get on the road. Let's measure the distance between the holes. So we're gonna go from the center hole, center hole here. It looks to be about 2 1/2 inches. So each one is gonna be 2 1/2 inches apart from each other when your going to get that rise or that drop. 'Bout ready to hook up our trailer. So we're just gonna bring it up. Bring the coupler over the ball. And start lowering it. Get that lowered down. Let's go ahead and latch it in place now. Add our pin. Overall, I really like the Rebel Adjustable Ball Mount. Like I said, I think it's just awesome how easy it is to adjust. You know, when we're setting up with this trailer, even two different trailers. You quickly wanna get on the road and if you make a miscalculation, put in the wrong one, your not like, "Oh, it's not quite level." You can easily just jack it back up, move this ball mount to the next one or wherever you need it and then, hook it up. And you're done. I really like that. You don't have to carry three or four different ball mounts in the back of your truck. You got the one that can switch out to whatever you need. Well, thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Insert a ball mount or other hitch-mounted accessory into 1 of the receivers.The item itself is fine. In fact, I like the product very much. The problem is that the etrailer website does not give accurate information about the product and their customer service was lacking. Etrailer claims this receiver gives a 9-inch drop. It is a 7.5 drop as stated on the box from Gen-Y. If you look at the picture carefully you will see that a 9-inch drop isn't possible. Each receiver tube will give a drop of 2 inches. Three tubes is six inches and add 1.5 inches for the thickness of the metal and that equals 7.5 inches. Sadly, I did not figure this out before ordering as I relied on etrailer for accurate information. When I called to ask about the error I felt I was given a runaround. The person I spoke to admitted the information was not accurate but didn't offer to replace the receiver with one that has a 9-inch drop. I called again this morning and was answered by voice mail. I left my name and number and so far no one has called. In my opinion, Gey-Y has made a better mousetrap but if you choose to order one make sure that you are getting the correct rise or drop. I found all of the different Gen-Y receivers on the website to have similar errors. My wife placed the order and her name is on this review. I actually needed an 8-inch drop so the receiver I have will work for my application but I did want the option of trying both the 7 inches and 9-inch drop to if one was better for my application. I am leaving on a trip in the morning and will make do with the one I received.
