What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Gen-Y Rebel Ball Mount. It's gonna be an adjustable ball mount and what I mean by that is you can easily just move this and the different two inch by two inch shanks is gonna go into your two inch receiver here, your hitch, but you can move it up and down as you need to, to adjust for different trailers. Whether you have a boat trailer, a regular trailer for just hauling things. They're all gonna be different heights and instead of swapping out that ball mount every single time, you can just move this, slide in the next section, and go. Let's check it out.
Taking a closer look at it, just wanna show you it has a nine inch drop. So that means you can go all the way down to nine inches of adjustability for your ball mount. And then it has a seven inch rise. And what I mean by that is you can actually flip it around if you need some more height added. I'll show you how to do that.
Ruin the clips of the pins. Just go like this. I'll put that pin back in just to keep it in place. And then you can get that rise you need for any different trailers. Take a closer look at it, whether you leave it in your hitch or put it in the back of your truck, you wanna make sure it stays nice and protected.
It's got a black powder coat finish on the whole assembly here. So you don't have to worry about leaving it outside, the elements aren't gonna bother it. It's gonna take a lot to scratch it up. It's not gonna rust or corrode on you. So that's just a good thing 'cause you know, sometimes you don't feel like just taking it out and put in the back of truck.
You just wanna leave it on there overnight in the rain. It'll be fine. It also has, and can handle, 5,000 pounds of gross towing weight. So just keep that in mind when you're thinking about what trailer you're gonna hook up to or pull. There are 7,000 pound rated ones as well on our website. You can check those out if you have a heavier trailer. Another nice thing about this, is that you can use it as it hitch. So I'm using the Gen-Y Step. I'm just gonna put into place and it works just like your normal hitch would. So it just another advantage of not having to take the whole ball mount assembly out. If you wanna put something else in there, you can just easily slide it in, like you normally would. Clip it, and now you're ready to use it. You get the trailer in position and lower the coupler down on the ball. Got it right there. Go ahead and latch it into place. I'll add that clip in a second once I get the jack up in the air. Overall, really easy to use. I like how simple it is to switch that ball out, lower it, or raise it, whatever position you need for all your different trailers. It took us no time to hook up our trailer. It's all nice and even, and I'm ready to hit the road. Thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped..

The item itself is fine. In fact, I like the product very much. The problem is that the etrailer website does not give accurate information about the product and their customer service was lacking.
Etrailer claims this receiver gives a 9-inch drop. It is a 7.5 drop as stated on the box from Gen-Y. If you look at the picture carefully you will see that a 9-inch drop isn't possible. Each receiver tube will give a drop of 2 inches. Three tubes is six inches and add 1.5 inches for the thickness of the metal and that equals 7.5 inches. Sadly, I did not figure this out before ordering as I relied on etrailer for accurate information. When I called to ask about the error I felt I was given a runaround. The person I spoke to admitted the information was not accurate but didn't offer to replace the receiver with one that has a 9-inch drop. I called again this morning and was answered by voice mail. I left my name and number and so far no one has called.
In my opinion, Gey-Y has made a better mousetrap but if you choose to order one make sure that you are getting the correct rise or drop. I found all of the different Gen-Y receivers on the website to have similar errors. My wife placed the order and her name is on this review.
I actually needed an 8-inch drop so the receiver I have will work for my application but I did want the option of trying both the 7 inches and 9-inch drop to if one was better for my application. I am leaving on a trip in the morning and will make do with the one I received.
