First of all, it’s beautiful; fit and finish is as it should be for the price. No rust stainless hitch ball ends are great. I use this on a Chevy Silverado 1500 with the max tow package pulling a 24’ 5800 lb. boat on an aluminum trailer. It pretty much is one position so I can’t say how quick and easy it is to routinely change from one ball size to the other or hitch height, but I can tell you that it all works flawlessly. The only downside is that it’s heavy so storing it in a foldaway tool box in my truck bed is fine but it’s a load. In use it never rattles or shakes and it’s because of the clamping lock. But that can only be used in dropped position, which is how I use it. If you need a great multi ball unit that looks and works really well, this one is for you. 771743

After a year I don’t find that I need to take advantage of the adjustability as I did when I first bought it. The anti-rattle device still works great and barring a good size scar from someone backing into it at some point the one time I left it place during the week it still looks great and works great. I pulled out tools from my storage bin so while it’s still heavy keeping it in the bin is no longer a problem.

Needing at least an 8" drop I ordered the 10" drop to be sure I had enough leeway for adjustment in case my vehicle was heavily loaded with gear. The anti-rattle feature is what really made me choose this hitch. I'll be towing a boat 7,000 miles this summer and did not want to hear any squeaks and eliminate anything that could contribute to trailer swaying. In order to be sure the anti-rattle pin would make contact with my receiver I inquired with both the manufacturer and etrailer. Fastway customer rep said the distance was 3-1/2" and Etrailer said it was 2". Needless to say when it arrived it measured 2" which is perfect for my 2016 Suburban. You may want to double check with etrailer on the 2" measurement before ordering in case the manufacturer has modified the design. While the anti-rattle pin does eliminate up and down motion a little left to right movement remains. I may fabricate a narrow shim to eliminate all movement but at this time I do not think it will be necessary. Since I am using this on what is almost the lowest height setting with the 2" ball the 2-5/8" ball is just 10 1/4" above the ground. The hitch balls are not removable from the sliding mount therefore you either have to be careful not to bottom out or for more clearance Fastway said I could cut the 2-5/8" ball off the mount. This would make the ground clearance 12-1/4" off the ground. As others have stated it is a beautiful piece of hardware and looks really sharp. I will likely leave on on permanently with a BOLT trailer hitch receiver lock. (Be sure to order the correct one!). Leaving it permanently mounted has one benefit- I think drivers from behind will be more wary of stopping too close and rear ending you and if they do rear end you at a slow speed it will absorb a bit of the impact thereby minimizing damage to your vehicle. This is a solid well built aluminum ball mount but, on a 2015 dodge 2500 class 5 receiver the anti-rattle pin on the ball mount only catches 1/4 of the round pin in the receiver tube. The hole for the locking pin is close to the end of the tube of the receiver on the truck, so the ball mount sticks out in the receiver tube (in my opinion) too much for this to work as it was intended. Etrailer said it should work in there opinion but when you spend over 200 dollars for a ball mount it should work as intended and not "it SHOULD be fine?" Will be contacting Diversi-tech as well. etrailer is great a place to order from and quick shipment as well! 188318

Excellent product. I installed on my 2014 Ram 1500 and the anti rattle pin was completely inside the receiver unlike what some of the other reviews show. There is absolutely no rattling. This drop hitch is a true champion! I have a '09 Ford F-250 with 4.5" of suspension lift on 37" tires, and this hitch is more than adequate for all types of towing applications. I just got back from towing a 7500 pound load for 10+ hours. I was on bumpy roads, interstates, and in some sketchy situations, but not once did I have to worry about the hitch. And on top of that, it was QUIET!! I locked down the tension bolt for reducing the movement, and it never moved or made a sound after that. And it looks SICK! It is difficult to find an adjustable, quality receiver hitch that also provides a way to secure BOTH the shank and the ball assembly to the vehicle against theft. The FastWay unit’s use of a secure Allen screw is certainly not ‘Fort Knox’ safe, but is more than its competitors have. I took advantage of a “used” unit etrailer listed and was very pleased upon receiving it that it was like new with only some minor scratches- just as described. 711441

UPDATE: After about a year and a half I have hadthe following experiences. The manufacturer replaced the hitch after it became difficult to loosen the pin to adjust the hitch height. It had been lubricated as specified but became very tight and felt as if it was cross-threaded. I have become disenchanted with the tamper-proof design of the adjustment and locking pins. I am in the cold northeast and they tend to get iced in and difficult to remove. The height adjustment pin has become damaged from my not consistently being able to the wrench fully into the cavity. I would like to see a different type of boltpin used.

I initially loved the hitch because it was tight in receiver and unlikely to be stolen. Over time it has become harder to keep the anti rattle screw and pin tight, I tighten it just about everyday now. There are also rough spots that have developed in all the screws, I suppose from the set screw tightening against the threads. The hitch is a good value for the money, as it does its job of being an adjustable hitch. 1161161

I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with this ball mount. This ball mount has a stainless-steel pin operated by a hex tool that tightens the ball mount in your receiver in the position. I will attach a video guide on how to use it. For further anti-rattle protection, you can use a U-bolt device like item # RM-061

The materials and machining are very nice, making it beautiful and precise. I like the craftmenship and detailed notches on the vertical bar. Already use both 2 and 2-5/16 balls so it was easy to chose this item for my needs. Yes the hitch arrived yesterday with my UPS guy complaining that such a small box could be so heavy! I did a test install on my new 2500 Ram Diesel with 2-1/2" receiver. It fits perfectly and cranking down on the set screw makes it absolutely unmovable in the receiver. I do wish the tongue was a bit longer, as the ball mount ends up pretty close to the bumper, but that is a small concern. The entire unit is extremely well made, and the up/down adjustment of the ball mount component is smooth and effertless. 115141

The 2-1/2 inch versions of the DTSTBM line do use an adapter sleeve. They use an extended length anti-rattle pin that passes through the adapter to make contact with the receiver just like the 2 inch counterparts. Check the link to the photo, its the shorter 4 inch drop version of this hitch.

I love that ball mount, so much so that I found a second one listed on VT Craigslist with a 2 & 1-7/8 combo ball mount. The Diversi-Tech units really do absolutely stop the trailer from bouncing in any way. They are so simple to adjust for my various trailers that I carry nothing else in the truck.
