Seems to work as expected. Installs easily. I had a CURT drawbar for my other vehicle but they didn't have one in the Drop I need for my new car. I prefer the lock pin on that CURT model, it's feels heavier duty, than this so I just swapped them out.

by:

Exactly what I needed. I bought this Mercury Mariner used and it had factory installed hitch with a 1 1/4 receiver. I needed a drawbar with a substantial drop to tow my utility trailer somewhat level. Local shops had lots of 2 inch drawbars with drops but no 1 1/4 and I was even told that they weren't made and I would have to use a 1 1/4-2 inch receiver adapter do get what I wanted. You folks had what I needed and it arrived quickly. I should have looked here first.

It worked fine while I had it. I sold the vehicle in March and all my hitch hardware went with the vehicle as my new truck has a 2 inch receiver.

I have a 2012 Outback. The car has more ground clearance than my previous Outback so the 2 1/2" drop on my old drawbar resulted in the rails on my motorcycle trailer tilting backwards slightly. This made loading the motorcycle a bit tricky because it wanted to roll backwards when loaded, until strapped down. I looked all over town for a drawbar with more drop but was unable to find one. Finally found this drawbar and it worked perfectly with enough drop to level the rails on the trailer. I also like the fact that it is a bit shorter than other drawbars and doesn't stick out as far.

by:

Item as described and picture. Very fast service and shipping.

by:

Needed a drop 1 1/4" ball mount for a small utility trailer with a very low tongue. #36078 fit the bill very nicely. Quality was better than advertised, heavy material, thick tough finish. Service was excellent. Package was damaged in transit, product was missing. A quick email and a replacement was on the way immediately. Arrived overpacked and reinforced, in a timely manner.
Definitely a company I'll do business with in the future.

by:

Seems well made. Welds look good. Finish coat is nice. Biggest plus about my whole puchase: etrailer had the hitch I needed and they shipped and delivered with lightning speed. Thanks etrailer!

by:

I have bought trailering products from Etrailer.com in the past and have always been pleased with them. This time I purchased a ball mount. The groove around the end of the ball mount keeper pin, instead of a hole, is an excellent idea. Plus the time from purchase to delivery is very fast. Thanks Etrailer

by:

I had a very hard time finding the drawbar receiver with the exact drop and ball size that I needed for my small utility trailer; however, I was able to get exactly what I wanted from etrailer. Ordering was easy, price was very reasonable, and it wass delivered within a few days. Excellent product and service.

by:

A very well made hitch made with solid steel. Not a hollow tube.was going to pay the extra shiping as I ordered on a Tuesday and needed it before the weekend.Decided to chance the regular shipping and not only did they ship it on the day I ordered, but it was at my home 2000 miles away on Thursday.Awesome service, shipping and a great price too!

by:

My ordered was promptly taken & shipped out. I chose 2 day shipping, my hitch arrived before 5pm. On the 2nd day! I installed the hitch & used it the same day! Well made product! I would recommend etrailer to family & friends! Sherry was very kind & professional! Thank you!

by:

Perfect fit but it didn't say it came with the pin so I ordered a 2" pin, too long. Update what I would get besides the hitch on your product number.

by:

Fits my Polaris perfectly and allow a level pull of my weed sprayer.

by:

packing was pretty torn up but but product was fine being a steel hitch

by:

Received my order without a problem or delay. Was used this past weekend. I would recomend etrailer for any trailer needs.

by:

Really heavy and well-built. Fits perfectly; trailer is nice and level. Ordered 2-day shipping and got it in 2 days. Now we're all set for our trip!

by:

This was very hard to find locally but was quickly able to find it at etrailer.com. It is exactly what I thought it would be.

by:

Very good hitch, was everything it said it is. Delivery was fast and on time, would definitely buy from etrailer again.

by:

A drawbar is a drawbar and it works or fails. The finish and paint on this one was badly applied and it does not look crisp and precise, but this has nothing to do with function which is fine.

by:

It was just what I needed for my ATV to pull a small trailer cart for various chores.

by:

Comes with a hitch pin! Exactly as desc ribed.

by:

Great serviceThis drawbar is very good, quality # 1
very happy. Also E-trailers customer service was Very helpful and the best I ever experianced. Very satisfied.

by:

Timely delivery; 'Great' communications, and solid product! Hooked up and it was just what I needed. Thanks!!

  • Class II Ball Mount With 3-1/2 Inch To 5 Inch Drop For Ford Explorer
For a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver on your Ford Explorer, we have two ball mounts that fall within the 3-1/2 to 5 inch drop range. The first one is the Draw-Tite Class II Ball Mount, part # 36078. This ball mount has a 4-3/4 inch drop and measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball mount hole. It has a tongue weight rating of 300 pounds and a towing weight capacity of 3500 pounds. The pin and clip are included with this ball mount. The second ball...

  • Class II Ball Mount with 1-1/4" Shank Needed that has a 5" or 6" Rise/Drop
I am attaching a link to all of our Class II ball mounts that fit a 1-1/4" receiver opening. Since adjustable ball mounts are geared towards vehicles that tow regularly, like pickups, they don't make any that fit a 1-1/4" receiver. Among the linked ball mounts we have the Draw-Tite # 36078 which has a 5" drop or the Draw-Tite # 36065 which has a 5" rise, both of which are rated for 3,500 lbs. Either of these ball mounts are compatible with the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256 rated at 2,000...

  • Parts to use a Class 3 or Higher hitch with a Class 1 or 2 Tow Load
If you already have 1-1/4 inch ball mount that are the proper size for your trailer, you can use a reducer sleeve like part # HT02. If you want to continue using the ball you have, you would need a ball mount with a 3/4 inch ball shank diameter hole, which will be Class 1 and 2 ball mounts and would again need reducer sleeve part # HT02. If you have to buy a new ball mount since you switched to a 2 inch hitch and may need more drop, I would go ahead and buy a 2 inch ball mount and a 1-7/8...

  • 1-1/4-Inch Ball Mount with 4-Inches of Drop
Some lighter-duty ball mounts such as the Class I Draw-Tite # 3594 cannot be used in the drop position because there would not be enough room for the coupler to get around the hitch ball. The short part of the shank would prevent this. For a 1-1/4-inch ball mount with about 4-inches of drop you can use Class II ball mount # 36078 or Class I ball mount # 3593 with 2-3/4-inches of drop, or # C45022 with 3-1/4-inches of drop.

  • Hitch Ball Recommendations for Ball Mount 36078
There isn't a specific length ball shank required for ball mount # 36078. It just has to be long enough to have 3 threads or more exposed beyond the nut when tight. If you need a 2 inch ball # C40018 is a popular option. For a 1-7/8 inch ball # C40001 is a popular option.

  • Using a 36078 Class II Drop Drawbar as a Rise Instead of a Drop
The drawbar you mentioned is not intended to be used in the rise position and would only create a 3-1/2 inch rise. We do carry a 5 inch and a 3-1/8 inch rise drawbar (see links below) that will fit the Class II hitch. These drawbars all have a tongue weight capacity of 300 lbs and a towing capacity of 3500 lbs. Keep in mind that if you need a significantly higher or lower drawbar to tow (you are not able to use the manufacturer's recommended drawbar for the hitch), you will void the manufacturer's...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo with Additional Rise
The ball mount you would have bought with the hitch for your 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo would have had a 3 inch rise. So for a ball mount that has a 5 inch rise you'd want the part # 36078 which would give you the additional height you need. For a 2 inch ball for use with this you'd want the part # 19258.

  • Ball Mount for a Class II Factory Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Ford Escape
The ball mount that is recommended for aftermarket Class II Draw-Tite hitches is # 36051, or for Curt hitches for your 2012 Ford Escape you'd use # C45521. You will want to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Ford though because on many Class II hitches you have to use the ball mount specified by the hitch manufacturer. If they don't specify then yes, you could use # 36078. Either ball mount accepts a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. For a 1-7/8 inch you can use # A-80 (rated...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2008 Ford Explorer with Class II Trailer Hitch and Multiple Trailers
Since you are towing multiple trailers, they probably do not all have the same coupler height to tow them level. If that is the case than a fixed ball mount would not be the best choice. But if all the trailers do have the same coupler height then going with either ball mount # BM96 or # 36078 would be fine. The main difference between these 2 ball mounts is the rise and drop each offers. Ball mount # BM96 has a 5-1/2 inch rise or 6 inch drop. Ball mount # 36078 has a 4-3/4 inch drop and...

  • Distance From Hitch Pin Hole to Hitch Ball Hole
Good question. I went out and measured the ball mount, part # 36078, myself. It's 7-1/2 inches from the pin hole the hitch ball hole. You can actually see the measurement taken in the video I linked for you. If you don't have a hitch ball to fit already part # 19254 is a 1-7/8 ball and part # 19258 is a 2 inch ball. Both have a 3/4 inch diameter shank to fit the ball mount.

  • Recommended Ball Mount with 4" Rise for 1-1/4" Hitch
It sounds like you are looking for a 1-1/4" ball mount which has a 4" rise. If that is the case then I recommend the Curt Drawbar part # C45021 which is the shortest we have available at 9" long. In order to complete this setup you'll need the Hitch Pin/Clip part # F-4 and 2" Hitch Ball part # C40018. The Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches part # 36078 cannot be used in the rise position according to the manufacturer.

  • Why Must the Curt Class II Drawbar # C45014 be Used in the Rise Position Only
I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said the Class II Drawbar, # C45014, has not been tested for use in the drop position. They only test it for the rise position. If you were to use this ball mount in the drop position and it fails, the warranty would be voided and you could be responsible for all damages. If you need a Class II drawbar with a 5 inch drop, I recommend looking at the Draw-Tite Class II Drawbar, # 36078. Keep in mind, most Class I and Class II trailer hitches are only...

  • Is there a 1-1/4 Inch Ball Mount with 4 to 5 Inches of Drop
Ball mount # 36078 has a drop of 4-3/4 inches. This ball mount is designed for Class II hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. If you have a Class I hitch this ball mount may not fit depending on the brand of the hitch. For a Class I hitch we have several ball mounts that offer a 3-1/4 inch drop: # C45022, # C45026, and # C45027. Also keep in mind that the tongue weight of the trailer will pull down on the back of the vehicle some so that can help in keeping the trailer level.

You are correct that 5 inch drops are really difficult to find. We have no fixed mount ball mounts that fit a 2 inch receiver, only one for a 1-1/4 inch receiver # 36078 and the rest are for 2-1/2 inch receivers. I've attached that link to assist.
