The hitch was able to perform as I had intended it to. However instead of using it as a drop I am using it as a rise and it would have been better if I had a 10 inch rise. I am using a front hitch (which I also got from etrailer) to maneuver a trailer into a tight parking space.

This is a great drop hitch for my lfted truck, very great experience dealing with Etrailer in all aspects of my order, will definitely order everything I can from them in the future.

Perfect fit exactly what I needed. I have a light duty adjustable hitch that I worried was inadequate. I purchase this for the rating and reassurance that I was safe towing my heavy trailer and tractor.

Great. Even after I purchased a different truck, I was able to make it fit by minor adjustments to it. Customer service was very helpful picking the right tool for the job.

Worked really well - Jeep Grand Cherokee has a high back bumper - Kayak trailer is low to the ground and we like to pull it level.

This drop hitch rated at 10,000 lbs is so much cheaper than anyone around me and the quality is excellent. I've used etrailer for several purchases over the years they always deliver. I'm always impressed with their selection and pricing. On this last order they upgraded my shipping and I received my order 4 days earlier than expected.

completely satisfied , good shipping, good products . I use the 2 inch hitch and 2 inch ball about every week on my jeep grand cherokee . I use the trailer dolly to park the utility trailer behind the shed.by using the trailer dolly I don't have to drive the jeep on the lawn. (sorry I don't have pictures to send.)

This is a well built receiver hitch. It has a 10,000 pound rating which will be great pulling a 20 foot trailer. Good price also.

After a year the mount shows no wear at all I would recommend this product to any one needing a good hitch mount, with a large rise and drop.

- C45338
by:

Super strong, well made, nice welds, powder coated, fit my receiver with very little slop. Hard to ask for a better tow bar.

- C45338

This drop hitch is well made and has a nice protective finish. We just bought a much bigger truck and the drop will allow towing of my smaller trailer nice and level. The specified amount of drop is accurate.

  • Recommended Ball Mount for 2" Hitch with 7" Rise
I have just what you need, the Curt Ball Mount part # C45338 which has a 7" rise and is designed for a 2" trailer hitch. This is a fixed ball mount but we have adjustable options, the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM which has built-in cushioning. If you go with the Curt Ball Mount, you'll also need the Hitch Ball part # A-90 for 2". • How to Determine the Amount of Drop Needed on Ball Mount for Towing Trailer
When determining the amount of rise or drop you will need on the ball mount for your towing setup, you just need to take a couple simple measurements. The first, which you have already taken, is from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver when your vehicle is parked and on level ground. The second is from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when it is also parked on level ground. You did state you took a measurement when the trailer was attached to a different vehicle,...

  • Hitch Pin Hole to Support Gusset Distance on Curt 10K Ball Mount 8-1/2 Inch Drop
On Curt ball mount # C45338 it measures approximately 5 inches from the center of the pin hole to the support gusset. However, the welds could be slightly different from one to the next so on some it will be less and others it will be more but only by a fraction of an inch. I have linked a video review of this ball mount for you.

  • Recommended 2 Inch Hitch Ball with 10,000 lb Capacity for Curt Ball Mount
There is a 2 inch hitch ball rated for 10,000 lbs that is compatible with the Curt Ball Mount # C45338. I recommend the 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 because it is rated for 10,000 lbs and has a shank that measures 1-1/4" diameter x 2-5/8 long so there will be minimal excess once the nut is tightened. I have added a link to a video review of this hitch ball for you to check out as well.

  • Does Capacity of Ball Mount Change if Used in Rise Position
The towing and tongue weight capacity of the Curt Ball Mount # C45338 does not change if you use it in the rise position; it has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and towing capacity of 10,000 lbs no matter if you use it to get 8-1/4 inches of drop or 7 inches of rise. Keep in mind your capacity is limited to that of your truck and hitch receiver. For a 6 inch drop ball mount that would fit the 2 inch hitch of your 2019 Subaru Ascent we have the Draw Tite part # 40346 and then for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball you'd want the part # 19261 and you'd be set. For a 2-inch ball mount rated for 12,000-lbs that has 8-inches of drop we offer two options you can see on the linked page. Part # 4283 from Draw-Tite provides 7-inches of rise or 8-inches of drop, as does Curt # C45448. Both take a hitch ball, sold separately, like 10K-rated # A-90. This is the highest-rated 2-inch ball we offer. We do not have a 12K ball mount with this rise/drop that comes with the hitch ball pre-mounted.

Yes! The Curt Ball Mount # C45338, which has a 7 inch Rise and a 8-1/4 inch Drop, has a ball hole diameter of 1-1/4 inches and the ball hole platform is 3/4 inches thick. You will want to secure this to your trailer hitch receiver with a pin and clip # C21500. You can use either a hitch ball that has a 2 inch diameter # A-90 or a 2-5/16 inch diameter # 19286.

Based on your measurements getting exactly what you need is a little tricky but I have some possible options for you. I can get you close to the rise you need by using ball mount # D-28, which has a 4 inch rise, with hi rise ball # C40034 or # C40032, both of these balls offer another 2 inches of height for a total rise of 6 inches. The tongue weight of the trailer will pull it down a little so at most you would be off level by 1 inch.

You will still need to follow the guidelines of the tongue weight of your Audi to avoid damage to the vehicle which is in place for any hitch, aftermarket or factory. We haven't tested using an Ark Articulating Coupler # AR44FR with a Curt Adjustable ball mount like the # C45902 and I don't think this is going to work because of the limited clearance from the hitch ball to the channel. You'll instead want to use a ball mount with a drop like the # C45338 specifically for towing with the AR44FR, since it will allow the coupler to move freely. • Ballmount Rise/Drop Needed for Towing Rental Car Dolly with 2015 Dodge Charger
The closer you can get the hitch ball height to the level height of the trailer (tow dolly in your case), the better. Towing the trailer nose up or down can cause trailer sway, which you'll want to avoid. For best results, you'll want to get the coupler and ball height within 1-1/2 to 2 inches, and it's better to have the coupler slightly lower than the trailer ball than vice versa. A ballmount with a 7-inch rise like # C45338 would put you right where you need to be, height wise. If...

  • Ball Mount for Trailer Hitch Height of 12-1/2 inch and Coupler Height 19 Inches
The two dimensions needed to be compared when picking out rise/drop ball mount is the top of the hitch opening down to the ground as well as the bottom of the coupler lip on the trailer down to the ground when the trailer is level. Since you measured from top of the coupler you'd need to remove right at 2 inches from 21 so you'd have from 12-1/2 inches to 19 inches which is 6-1/2 inches. So the closest you can get to that is 7 inches of rise like the part # C45338 which would work great.

The place to measure on your trailer for picking out correct rise/drop is actually from the bottom of the coupler lip. So since you measured from the top of where the ball fits into the coupler you'd need to subtract about 2 inches from that so you'd have 17 inches. So difference between 23 inches and 17 inches is 6 inches which means you'd need a drop of inches. So since you have a Curt Rockerball that adds 2 inches you'd need a 8 inch drop then.
