Towing can be brutal, especially when your setup is outfitted with standard, metal-on-metal components. Steel and aluminum can only absorb so much vibration and chucking, so every time you hit a bump in the road, that shock gets transferred to the rest of your rig, leaving it vulnerable to wear and tear. Another unfortunate side effect is an uncomfortable ride for you and your passengers.

Protect your truck and trailer from road shock, vibrations, and rattling - and stay comfortable while you drive - with the shock-absorbing Curt RockerBall hitch ball.

Shock Absorbing ShockDrop Technology

Curt RockerBall with SockDrop Technology

The RockerBall hitch ball features Curt's innovative ShockDrop technology, which is engineered to suppress vibrations and rattling while you're towing. When you hit a bump, the ball compresses around the flexible, polyurethane core. This durable material absorbs excess shock at the coupling point so that it doesn't transfer from the truck to your trailer or vice versa. The result is increased control and comfort as you tow, as well as less wear and tear on your towing setup.

Premium Construction

Curt RockerBall Construction

This hitch ball is built to last with its forged steel construction and durable powder coat finish. The flexible, shock-absorbing polyurethane core withstands extreme heat for long-lasting performance, and the chrome-plated ball resists corrosion.

Curt RockerBall Zerk Fitting

The built-in zerk allows you to lubricate the isolator core when necessary, ensuring quiet and trouble-free operation.

Video Transcript for Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit Review

What's up everybody it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the CURT RockerBall kit. So, it's gonna come with the anti-rattle as well, so it's kind of an all-in-one thing. If you're looking at the RockerBall and you want that ball that's gonna take that noise out of the trailer or even while you're pulling it, it's gonna help even out that feel while you're driving, and you don't have the rest of the kit, like a ball mount, this is gonna be for you 'cause it's gonna give you everything you need to get started. Let's check it out! We're gonna focus on both kits today. There's not really a whole lot of difference other than the rise and drop.

They're both gonna have the same gross trailer weight and that's gonna be 7,500 pounds, and then the same max tongue weight is gonna be 750 pounds. That doesn't change. What does change though, if you look at this one, it's gonna have a six-inch drop and a four-inch rise in the rise position. And this one's gonna have a four-inch drop and a two-inch rise. So, that's really the only difference between these, today, that we're gonna go over.

One thing to note though with the one that has the larger drop is that when you use it in the rise position it is gonna change some of the weight ratings. You see, right here. In the rise position it's only gonna have 6,000 gross trailer weight and then a max tongue weight of 600 pounds. It's just because the ball is not gonna be down here anymore, it'd be more up here. And you're just gonna lose a little bit of that strength.

Let's focus on the RockerBall. This is the main reason you're getting this kit and it's really the main event. What it's gonna do is it's gonna add some movement to when you're hooked up to your trailer. So, let's say you're hooked up to your trailer, you do a sudden start and stop. That trailer weight's gonna push against the vehicle, and you're gonna feel it.

Well, this actually goes forward and backwards, so it absorbs that shock, so the ball is actually gonna move forward and back. That way it doesn't transfer to the ball mount or the hitch, or up to the steering wheel where you're driving, so you're not gonna feel that when you're driving. It's gonna be less noisy too. You can see how much the ball moves back and forth instead of the shank. We didn't even feel it in the truck. Like I said, you didn't feel it in the steering wheel, we weren't being pushed forward or pulled backwards. It was all happening right here and it looked pretty cool in the footage. Something else that's gonna help quiet everything down is the anti-rattle bolt that's here in the ball mount that really takes that shake and play out. You see, I can't get it to move at all. I'm shaking the whole truck back and forth. No movement whatsoever in here. So that's what another thing. Usually in towing you're gonna hear a lot of noise if the ball mount's going back and forth in here. You'll hear the clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk as it's bouncing around. There's not gonna be any of that with that anti-rattle, and I think that really, in combination with the RockerBall, just takes all that noise out. If you're looking at shock absorbent ball mounts, there is another one, the Convert-A-Ball that's compared to the Rocker quite a bit. That one's gonna be more in the shank though. The movement's gonna be here. So it's gonna absorb all the shock up in here. Which one thing is, all you're gonna get is the ball mount with that. You don't get the ball. You're not gonna get the anti-rattle because you can't put an anti-rattle there. It's made to move here instead of here. So I kind of liked the Rocker better just because you get the ball mount that absorbs that shock and that anti-rattle that takes out that sound. They both worked together really well. That way in your truck you don't feel or hear anything. Another nice thing I like about the Rocker is that you can maintain it. So when you invest in something like this, you want to keep it for a long time. If you're gonna use it all the time, it does have the zerk fitting here to add more grease to it just so that it moves back and forth as easily as it did the first time you used it. Let's take a look at what you're gonna get with this kit. We've got the ball mount, the anti-rattle kit here, and then we have our ball. So let's just go over that. This is the RockerBall itself, and how you're gonna put it together is you got this plate that's gonna help keep that movement down. So you want the tabs facing down. We'll put it up like that. And we're gonna put that on our ball mount. It's just gonna go like that. And you can see how the tabs sit there on the edges. And that prevents that turning like so. So we'll flip it upside down and we'll add our lock washer and our nut. Now you're gonna want to put the ball in a vice and torque this down properly before you go to use it, but I'm just gonna hand-tighten it because we're just gonna go everything right here. So then you've assembled this. It's ready to go. Once you've tighten that down, let's go into the shank area and look at the anti-rattle part. We're gonna have this insert here. It's gonna go inside just like that. And then, we can put our anti-rattle bolt with the washer, the lock washer right there. That'll go through to the other side. Once it's in the hitch, then we have the spacer that'll go in last. That's just gonna take out any of that space right there. It doesn't have to go in all the way. It can sit right there. And then we've got our clip on the other side and you're ready to tow. As far as construction, it's gonna be all zinc plating here for your anti-rattle parts. So that's gonna be a big deal on, you know, you don't want that to rust or corrode, 'cause you're always gonna need that insert in there and the shank. And that's just part of this process. You don't want the hardware to fail, and it's not going to because of that zinc coating. The ball mount itself has a glossy black powder coat finish, so it's gonna hold up to rust and corrosion as well. You can leave it in the back of your truck, in your hitch, the elements aren't gonna bother it, and you got a chrome-coated steel ball mount here. So that's also gonna hold up. Now each of these come with a two-inch ball. They do make a two and 5/16ths one as well you can get on the side if that's what your trailer needs. Overall, I think this is gonna be really good for you if you have a heavy-duty trailer that you're pulling. I really liked the fact that it absorbs that shock the way it does. Really does make a difference when you're driving the truck. You can feel it in there and it works. I like that. And plus, it's an all-in-one kit, so you're not just gettin' the ball mount; you get the ball, the ball mount and the anti-rattle all in one kit and it's gonna help you out. Now, the only thing it might not help you out with is if you don't have a very heavy trailer, you might not need it because it needs that shock or that resistance for it to actually work. So if your trailer's not super heavy, this isn't gonna really help you out. But if it is, this is what you need to get. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Received product before due date however, both our WD Hitches do not have the standard piece to allow the Anti-Rotation Plate to be useful. Pictures attached. Checking with etrailer to see what can be done before modifying either the ball or the hitches. Only other issue was packaging, it was well packed on bottom side but not on top which allowed the product to distort the box it was shipped in but it did come fully in tact with no visible harm. Mentioning this for future delivery of such items.

Comments
I was able to contact Curt and the Curt RockerBall is not compatible with weight distribution systems. It is only compatible with a ball mount that has a 1-14 diameter ball shank hole.

Changed over from the conventional Ball. Noticeable difference after installing Rockerball. Makes the ride quieter and when braking no noises and no trailer play when braking or accelerating. recommended Product.

Review from a similar RockerBall in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

So I’ve been wanting the rocker ball for a while now and I’ve finally bought it. I bought the kit and it comes with a regular curt hitch, anti rattle kit, and the Rocker Ball. Construction seems solid on all Items. The hitch did arrived with a small area the size of half a penny of the powder coating chipped. I think it might’ve occurred during transit. Installation is fast BUT and a big BUT is very difficult to keep the rocker ball aligned to the hitch while you are torquing the nut. Mine ended up being noticeable sideways when I finished torquing it. I had to try it a couple of times and even then I couldn’t torque it all the way without 1. The rockerball assembly going sideways and 2. Without the tabs on the metal bracket bending.( one corner did bend. Anyways seems like a good product and if you don’t care of the Rockerball not being sorta aligned ( I honestly think that it shouldn’t be of fwhen fully tightened because then the rocker ball is not going to move straight back and straight forward) then I supposed it’s ok... If you are like me that gets bothered by details like this then find something else. I would’ve returned it but I scratched the hitch trying to get the Rockerball sorta aligned. Anyways take my experience with a grain of salt and good luck.

Who has a machine to tork a 250 ft lb nut? I found someone who had a manual tork wrench that could handle that much. Luckily he was huge enough to tighten it. But it still was crooked on the

Good idea, though actual towing feels chaotic. Pulling a 4,500 pound camper trailer with a F150 - Max Tow Package and this hitch causes the trailer to surge back and forth when braking, accelerating and/or rolling over bumps in the road. I don't know if my hitch is defective or not, but I will not be using this hitch anymore. The other issue is, when torquing the ball hitch to the specified 450 ft/lbs - the flanges that are supposed to hold the ball in place bent and I had to find an alternative to secure it from turning.

It looks like a quality product, but after buying 3 different drop hitches for my truck it doesn't look like I will ever find one that it will fit on............. so I just bought a stainless ball and went on. Makes for a nice $[XX] paperweight or conversation piece.

Really delighted at fast delivery and quality of product as well as ease of installation. Worst part was getting old bolt off but was my kind of switch-over and I needed the extra 1 1/2 inches because I was a little heavy on the tongue for my boat. Would recommend
