Today we'll be reviewing part number BWBMHD30013. This is the B&W heavy duty ball mount with a 3-inch riser, 4-inch drop. It's 11-3/8 inches long and it's rated at 16,000 pounds. This ball mount's going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank will slide into your vehicle's hitch receiver and the ball platform provides a good mounting point for a hitch ball which is sold separately. This is made from a sturdy steel construction. The shank is a solid piece so there's no hollow end here on the back of the shank.
This is corrosion resistant and has a high-gloss black powder-coated finish. Both the drop and rise positions are available to ensure level towing. The hitch pin and clip is sold separately or you can purchase a hitch lock and these products can be found on the ball mount's product page underneath the related products on the right hand side of the screen. This ball mount is made in the USA and it's designed to work with a 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. This has a gross towing weight of 16,000 pounds and a tongue weight of 1,600 pounds . The length, or the measurement from the center of our hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, is going to be 11-3/8 of an inch and then we have a drop of 4 inches.
The drop is measured from the inside top edge of your receiver tube. That's also going to be pretty equivalent with the top of our shank down to the top of the ball platform. So if you can just picture an imaginary line coming off of the shank over to the ruler, you'll see that it has a drop of about 4 inches. If we flip it over to the rise position, and take the same measurement, we're going to have a rise of 3 inches. Now in selecting a ball, you need to make sure that your ball has a diameter of 1-1/4 inch because that's how much space here with the ball hole you have to work with, and when selecting a pin and clip, you need to make sure that it's a 5/8-inch pin and clip. The length of our shank is 8 inches.
That's from the end here all the way to the upper point at the top of the weld. Now we'll go ahead and slide this into a receiver tube and show you how it looks. When installing this, you'll just take the shank, slide it into the opening of the hitch, and then you want to make sure that your pin holes are in line with each other, and then you can install your pin and clip. This is installed in the drop position. To do so in the rise position, all you would need to do is flip over your ball mount. This ball mount is a beast! There is no comparison to one of the cheap , hollow tube type hitches. I'll have no more worries concerning the strength of my setup. etrailer made it easy and affordable.
Great piece of hardware. Used it last summer towing about 7500 pounds. I was not worried using this hitch.

Ordering was easy, prices competitive, and etrailer had what I was looking for in stock. Packaged was received in the expected time frame. The box was broken but with a 35lb drawbar only packed in paper that is to be expected.
This hitch ball mount is a beast. The main shaft is solid square bar. It is not the normal square tube. I am impressed!

Was needing a 7-8 inch ride for my camper that could sustain a GVW of at least 5000 lbs. Let me say, it’s a hard to find item. Thankfully I called Etraer and with some research, found me the perfect ball mount. It’s heavy duty for a reasonable price.

This is nice. I have been looking for a high quality made in USA product and I found it.
I had to flip this upside down and put a hitch ball on this to get it to work with my Dodge Journey and my camper. It's held up without issue for a half-dozen camper pulls. I wish the paint hadn't already started flaking off at the receiver end, but that's to be expected when you connect metal to metal. The other parts of this haven't started flaking yet after a year so hopefully it continues to hold up.
