Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer HItch Ball Mount - Phantom X Adjustable 2 Ball 3 Receiver - GY57JV

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Gen-Y Hitch Phantom X adjustable two-ball mount with stacked receivers. Now this adjustable ball mount is going to slide into your two-inch trailer hitch receiver and it's going to give you three stacked two-inch receivers. So you can hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle with the included two-inch and 2 5/16th inch double-sided tow ball. And so this is going to be a great item to consider for towing with like your half-ton truck or maybe even your SUV.

These three stacked two-inch receivers are going to let you easily adjust the height of the included tow ball here, the combo tow ball here, or any other Gen-Y hitch accessory that you choose to use so you can tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. Also included is our pin and clip here that's going to hold our double-sided tow ball in place. This is gonna be very simple to adjust. Let me come around here just to show you, give you a brief demonstration here. So I'm gonna go ahead and just remove our clip here and remove our pin.

And so that's going to allow me to easily adjust the, like, if I wanna switch to the two-inch ball and then I can change different heights as you can see. So I'm just gonna put it there at the top setting and then slide the pin back in and then replace the clip. And what I really appreciate about this is, as you can see, I'm not struggling here, so I'm gonna be able to get the height adjustment and the tow ball size that I need in, as you saw, literally, in just a matter of seconds. So it's gonna be very easy to adjust. Now I wanted to point out that you don't wanna use these receivers for flat towing a vehicle, just so you're aware of that.

Now the gross towing weight, maximum gross towing weight with this is going to be 10,000 pounds. The maximum tongue weight is gonna be 1,000 pounds. And this is going to give you a maximum drop when you have the hitch in this orientation of about 4 1/2 inches or so. And then when you flip this over, you're gonna get a maximum rise of about 4 1/2 inches. Now this does have a a 5/8 of an inch in diameter hitch pin hole.

And a hitch pin and clip to secure this to your trailer hitch receiver is not included with this. You probably already have one for your hitch. But if not, we do have lots of other options available here at etrailer.com. I look at this as kind of an investment that you're making with this particular Gen-Y Hitch Phantom X. So maybe you wanna check out some hitch pin lock options if you don't already have an option like that. We do have those options here at etrailer.com. Now this is made here in the U.S.A. of a durable steel construction and it features a zinc primer epoxy powder coat to help this resist rust and corrosion. As you might know, Gen-Y Hitch has a great reputation of building very solid, very robust products. Sometimes, the term that I hear being used with Gen-Y is they overbuild their products and that's definitely the case. Their products are designed to withstand the rigors of towing, the elements that they're constantly exposed to. So they're very robust and all that to say, this is no exception to that. Let me go ahead and give you some measurements that might prove helpful for you, just so you can be confident this is gonna work for your particular application. You got the clearance that you need and all that good stuff. So looking at the overall height of just our shank itself, we're sitting at about 8 1/4 inches. Now that's going to obviously change with the ball mount depending on where you, or the tow ball rather, depending on where you have that. But I'm just interested in the height here. And then measuring from the center of our hitch pin hole to the center of our hitch ball, I don't know how easy that's gonna be to show you on camera here. I measured it earlier, but let me see if I can kind of give you a representation of that here. So from the center of our hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, we're sitting pretty close to 12 1/8 inches. And then from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the receivers right here, so not including the tow ball, see if I can show that. It's gonna be kind of hard for you to see, but we're sitting pretty close to 9 1/4 inches. And then from the center of the second hitch pin hole, right here, to the end of the shank, in case you we inchesre wondering about that measurement, pretty close to 1 3/4 inches.
