Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the conventional ramp door spring. This is going to be for your four foot wide enclosed trailers, and basically the reason why you'd want this and so that you can take the weight off of that ramp door so you're not having to lift it all on your own. The spring is going to do that work for you. So you can save your back, save your knees, save your head from getting any kind of damage to it, and also keep your hinges and the door itself from getting any kind of damage from accidental falls and anything like that.
So it's going to make life a lot easier with our enclosed trailer. We don't have to worry about lifting that whole weight on our own or getting an extra set of hands to help us do that, should be able to lift that door no problem all by ourselves. So definitely going to make things a little bit easier to work with on that enclosed trailer. It's going to come assembled as you see it with the spring intact, and then our hubs on either side and our brackets as well, has the cable and the two little attachment brackets. To get everything installed, you will need some hardware to actually mount this in place, but since it's going to depend on your situation, the hardware is going to really depend on that as well. Now, one caveat I will say with the install of this, if you haven't ever worked with a torsion spring, it's really best to leave that to a professional, since it can be pretty tricky to do without injury. So something that you definitely want to leave to the professionals if you don't already have any experience with that.
But you can get this a little bit adjusted if you want something a little bit narrower than that four foot length. Typically, that's going to be about the smallest trailer out there, but if your situation calls for that to be dialed in a little bit closer, you can make that adjustment by using a hacksaw and then adjusting everything down. The overall width for our assembly though is going to be 42 inches wide. And then our bracket, from the end of that bracket to the end of our hub, it's about seven and a half inches tall. And then those hubs and selves are about four and seven eighths inches. As far as the construction, it is made out of a sturdy steel.
So shouldn't have to worry about any kind of strength issues. The weight capacity that this can handle is 70 pounds. So should be a pretty good amount of weight to take off of your door, to get that lifted up and back in place, so you don't have to worry about it. But that's pretty much all there is to it for our conventional ramp door spring for four foot wide enclosed trailers. If you need any other information, we do have a lot of articles here at etrailer.com.
We also have other configurations of the spring at longer lengths. So definitely check those out if you're interested. Thanks for watching, and we'll see you next time.
