Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this conventional dual spring ramp door spring for up to an eight foot wide enclosed trailer. And this has 185 pound spring capacity. Now this part will replace your old trailer door spring with this nice heavy duty conventional ramp door spring. This is a dual spring setup, so it will let you easily lift and lower the door on your enclosed trailer without the risk of injury. It's designed to help take on the weight of your trailer door so that you don't have to.
And the dual springs will eliminate the risk of the ramp door collapsing and causing damage or injury because if one cable fails, the other spring will still prevent the trailer door from free-falling.Now this spring does reduce wear, helps prevent damage to door hinges on your trailer. And the spring is designed to be mounted one way for proper operation, and the way to tell which way to install it is when you go to install the spring, the cable drums, that's the drums right here on each end, they are stamped right and left. There's a little R and L on them, but the other nice thing is they spray paint a color on there, so you can tell just by looking real quick, the black color will mean right, and over here if you look, the left will be a red. So that will tell you this is left, and that one is right. And when you go to install this the right side, this side here will mount onto the curb side of the trailer.
And then the left side will mount onto the road side of the trailer. Also, the spring system can be modified to fit your specific application. It can be reduced in length if you have a narrower door and you want to reduce it, you can do that. You just basically slide the spring and that cable drum down, and then cut the remaining shaft off to a shorter length. So basically just to show you what you can do as you loosen these bolts there, slide that spring all the way that way, or you can put it wherever you need it, if you only need it this far, you can stop it there, and then just cut off what's left. But I want to give you the measurements of the minimum all the way up to the largest. So if we put this with the bearing, so that would be as far as it'd go.
So this would be the minimum width. So from this end to this end is going to be 67 and three-fourths inches. And the widest part would be if we move this all the way out, like we had it, to the very end, and then just tighten it down, tighten it down here. From this end all the way to that end would be 95 and a half inches. So basically the spring application would fit either a 67 and three-quarter inch, all the way up to a 95 and a half inch wide trailer door.
Does include all everything that's here on the table, the spring itself, the two mounting brackets with the hardware for installation, 150 inches of one-eighth inch diameter cable, and the hardware for the cable, and the set screw covers. Now this is a sturdy steel construction, it is made in the USA. Specs, again, the overall length from at this end to that end is 95 and a half inches. The diameter, the drum will be the widest diameter, so that's going to be four and three-quarter inch diameter. Spring capacity, we mentioned is 185 pounds. And just an installation warning, when you go to install this it is recommended that only individuals who have experience winding these torsion springs should install the product because when you go to loosen this and then wind the spring, you get a lot of tension built up, so it gets very dangerous. So if you don't have experience, we do recommend that you contact a local garage door company to help you install this system. But that should do it for the review on the conventional dual spring ramp door spring for up to an eight foot wide enclosed trailer. And this has 185 pounds spring capacity.

Fits 67-3/4" to 95" wide trailer doors. The M394FR ramp spring I purchased a year ago has been working great. It was easy to install and out performs the original spring on my 24’ car hauler trailer.
We received our door spring and the drums were damaged. I called etrailer and they sent new ones out quickly so we could get our trailer door fixed right away. They were most excellent in customer service :)
when installed it should be an excellent addition to trailer.
Everything worked out great. Installed on a snowmobile trailer. The door originally only had a spring system on the bottom of the door. It took 2 people to close. After installing the M394FR it is a 1 arm operation. Highly recommend this product
