Jake: Hey guys, Jake here at Etrailer. Today I'm going to show you how to replace your hasp on your enclosed trailer. This hasp is going to come in three different varieties. It's going to come in a zinc-plated steel, like we have here, aluminum and stainless steel. This is one part on your trailer that's often forgotten about for example this is the hasp that we replaced as you can see it's a little rusty, it doesn't work as smoothly, at times it'll squeak which is annoying. The new hasp is going to work very smoothly compared to our old one, obviously you can see it's got quite a bit of rust on it, that's where the zinc-plated finish, the aluminum and the stainless steel are all going to help to combat so that your new one isn't going to face the elements like her old one did.Now the operation is going to be the same as any hasp that you are familiar with.
It will have this little tab to hold it open which is a nice feature because I have used hasps in the past that do not have this little tab and it's a two-handed job, you have to hold it up to latch it in place. It is going to have a hole in both of the brackets to be able to put a padlock in. A quick note, the measurements between the holes are going to be four inches center on center, just so you know, so that you can match it up to your old existing holes. Now something to keep in mind, this kit is not going to come with new hardware so you're either going to have to pick up new hardware or you're going to have to use your old hardware that you took out of your old hasp. With that being said, it's a fairly simple installation so we'll go ahead and show you how to do that now.We lined it up with our old pre-existing holes and the holes are not going to line up so we're going to have to drill another hole and we will be able to reuse our old hardware, but we're going to go ahead and drill out that hole. Then we're going to be reinserting the hardware that came out of these holes on our old latch because I like how they have a flush mount design on the inside.
If you need to pick up new hardware, go ahead and just pick up the same bolts, they are going to have the same size square as the latch does. Then we can go ahead and test fit it after we got everything safely secured. Now we can take some gasket sealer or some caulk and fill in any holes that might be still present. Here we're just using some white caulk to patch up that hole.Once you're finished with the installation, you're ready to lock up your trailer and hit the road. Well guys, that's going to do it for our look at and installation of the replacement hasp on our enclosed trailer..

Replacement hasp fits Polar Hardware cam-action lockable door latch kit (PLR158) for small enclosed trailers. Rustproof aluminum construction provides durability.wish it came with mounting bolts. When I tried to remove the old bolts, they rung off and I had to mounts new hardware with standard hex bolts.
I saw a ramp door online and copied it for my shed. I built the ramp door from the shed double opening doors and used most of the parts from etrailer.com The hasp close my shed and lock it.
Excellent product! Arrived fast & safe. Simple to install and fits perfectly. I replaced rusty ones on my cargo trailer (converted to a camper) and they look great (see the before and after photos). One caution: watch for sharp edges. I used sandpaper to smooth the edges out and they are now perfect.
Works great, exactly what i needed and wanted . I replaced zinc plated latches on my aluminum stick trailer.

Worked great on my horse trailer doors. Had to re-drill the door a bit, but the latches work great.
Needed a second latch for my cargo trailer side door. Works perfect.
Used this to replace a hasp on my 8541 featherlite trailer because of steel on aluminum corrosion. Needed slight modification but works great. Question for featherlite: Why put a painted steel hasp on an all aluminum trailer?
