Today we're going to be taking a look at the Polar Hardware T-strap hinge for side and rear trailer doors. Now this strap hinge lets your side or rear trailer door swing open 180 degrees. You can see how easily the hinge on the unit operates. It's going to allow for easy opening and closing. Now this is a long strap that provides more contact area with the door to excellent support. It's going to feature a non-removable pin for extra security.
That pin diameter is about a half inch. It's a nice heavy-duty design, very strong and durable. It's going to be a zinc-plated steel construction that provides durability and corrosion resistance. A few measurements to go over with you real quick, starting with the overall length. Measuring from the back of the hinge to the end of the strap, it's about 17 and 5/8 of an inch. When it comes to the dimensions of just the hinge, that's going to give us a length measurement of about 4 and 1/2 inches.
Going this direction from the end of the hinge to about the center of the pin, maybe a little bit forward, is about 1 and 5/8 of an inch. The mount holes on the hinge are separated on center by 3 and 1/4 inches. Then the strap length, take a measurement of that as well. It's going to be about 16 inches long. The width of the strap, it's going to be about 2 inches wide. You'll notice that there's three mount holes on that strap.
You can see those there. If we take a measurement, the distance that we have between each hole, center on center, so from this one to this one, is 6 and 7/16 of an inch. From the center one to the furthest out one is also 6 and 7/16 of an inch. Now these holes on the strap will accept 5/16 inch-diameter hardware. The holes on the hinge will accept 3/8 inch-diameter hardware. That's going to do it for today's look at the Polar Hardware T-strap hinge..
