Hi there I'm Aiden with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at this butt hinge from Marlboro. That's gonna be a hinge made here in the USA. It's gonna be great for your doors or panels on your trailers or any other application you might be using this in. Now more often than not with a hinge, you're gonna need more than one. This comes just one hinge on its own.
So whatever project you're planning, make sure you pick up the appropriate amount. This is going to be a pretty sturdy steel construction. The hinge has a fair bit of weight to it so it's gonna be pretty strong and durable. It doesn't have any sort of special finish on there. It's an unplanted mill finish.
So you're not gonna get any extra sort of corrosion resistance like you might with zinc plating or stainless steel construction. So just keep that in mind. Now you do get 270 degrees of rotation with this hinge. So you can take it at our starting point right here, open it up flat and past there to our 270 degree point right there. Now if you kind of picture this, maybe mount it up to a door on a wall or something here.
Is the door closed and as you open the door, it'll come fully open to this point right here. So plenty of movement there, and even some room on the other side there, if you maybe aren't mounting to a perfectly flat spot. So if you do need to mount toward your doors here, you can. You're gonna notice that there aren't any sort of pre drilled holes here on the hinge. It's just flat bare metal there.
So if you want to bolt this on, you will need to drill your own holes and pick up your own hardware or you're gonna have to choose to weld this on. So just keep that in mind, when you're looking at your trailer, wherever you're gonna put this hinge and how gonna mount it up. Now with the pin here, we've got a three-eighth inch diameter pin. And some other important dimensions to note are the hinge itself when it's laying it's flat open state. Let me grab this measuring stick here. This is gonna be five inches by five inches wide. So you can see side to side, we've got five inches there. And when I move the hinge over this way, five inches side to side right there. The other measurement to keep in mind here, is the knuckles here. These guys are gonna be one inch and three-sixteenth of an inch. So just keep that in mind when you're checking this out. And that'll do it for our look at this butt hinge. Thanks for watching..
