      • Keeps coupler height at the normal king pin height
  • Included coupler adapter attaches to 5th-wheel trailer's king pin and fits over hitch ball on base

If you would like to tow a fifth-wheel trailer but have a gooseneck hitch, or you just like the ease of towing with a gooseneck hitch, this Andersen Ultimate Connection gooseneck to fifth-wheel adapter was made for you.

This fifth-wheel hitch system includes a lightweight frame that installs on any industry-standard gooseneck hitch ball. The frame holds a ball above your pickup bed at the proper height to connect to your fifth-wheel trailer. So, compared with typical fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck adapters, which are longer, Andersen's Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection applies less leverage and puts less stress on the coupler. This also helps to reduce chucking. The included coupler adapter installs in a snap, converting your trailer's king pin to a gooseneck ball coupler.

The frame with ball weighs 75 pounds. It's lighter than the typical fifth-wheel hitch. You'll always be able to take out the frame when you want full use of your pickup truck bed.

The king pin adapter includes a remote release that you operate with a cable, so you can latch the coupler to the ball without climbing into the back of your truck. Made of aluminum, the adapter is lightweight and won't rust.

And because a ball-and-coupler connection has more swivel than a standard fifth-wheel hitch, you'll be able to more easily hook up your fifth-wheel trailer on uneven ground.

I watched a video that Andersen had made abut this product and in the video they said it will work with a short bed truck. But that does not seem to be the case with my truck and trailer. I emailed Andersen about this but had no response. The problem is when I turn sharp to back the 5th wheel into a parking spot the 5th wheel will hit the cab of my truck. The hitch itself is great. Would like to hear back on why it dose not seem to work on my setup. 90104

The Andersen Ultimate Adapter AM3225 will work with all truck bed sizes, however it was not designed to allow a short bed truck to make a 90 degree turn. When towing a fifth wheel trailer, a sliding fifth wheel hitch or a sidewinder pin box is required for short bed trucks to make a 90 degree turn safely. This hitch only offers an offset of 5-1/4 inches. Typically, you will need anywhere from a 10 to 22 inch offset. If you can tell me the year, make, model and bed size of your truck, I will be happy to recommend some specific products that will work for you.

We have a 2012 Dodge Ram crew cab diesel and are interested in purchasing this hitch. Can you tell me if we will have the same issue as mentioned above? Thanks!

You very well could end up not being able to make a full 90 degree turn due to the limited offset this offers, only 5-1/4 inches. Part CAB-C5GX1216 offers more offset at 7-1/2 inches and the Adersen Rapid Hitch part AM3139 offers more at 8 inches. But these two are more of a long term solution.

The Andersen works for me. I have a 2015 GMC 2500 Std. Bed 6.6 ft. I mounted the King Pin adapter block where the Andersen ball connects in front of the KingPin that adapter block can be rotated so the ball connects either in front or behind the KingPin. I was going to also change my in-the-truck-bed-flip ball to a Curt 4 inch offset ball since this would give me another 4 inchs. But I didnt need it. A very relevant issue is the type of front nose on your fifth wheel. I have a 2016 Wildcat and like many newer 5ers the nose is sculpted deep. If you have an older 5er with a flat across nose, you may still have issues. Some folks I know flip the Andersen adapter to Ball behind Kingpin that loses the 5 14 clearance and then they add the Curt Offset that brings back 4 clearance. The reason to do that is to move more of the King Hitch body into the bed of the truck while leaving the pivot point basically the same well actually 1 1/4 less.

I had been looking for a 5th wheel hitch that would fit in a Ford Dually truck I had just purchased. The truck had an existing flip up ball. It also had a 98 gal. fuel tank in the bed and a tonneau cover which I had to take into consideration. I was unable to find a hitch that would work without leaving rails in the bed until I found the Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel connection. I had a tight schedule and needed it to be sent 3 day delivery. The staff at etrailer.com went out of their way to give me measurements and make the schedule happen. It arrived on schedule and appears to be exactly what I need. Thanks for your help!!! Do you have a question about this Gooseneck and Fifth Wheel Adapter?

  • Concerns About Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Dodge Ram 3500 Equipped with a Goose Neck Hitch
  • There are several ways to adapt a 5th wheel trailer to enable it to be towed with a truck that has a goose neck hitch installed. The best choice for you will depend on how often you need to change between trailer types. Some of the adapters that allow this flexibility will put more stress on the trailer frame than other types. Options are still somewhat limited for newer vehicles like your 2014 Ram. A fifth wheel adapter that bolts onto the king pin, such as Convert-A-Ball # CAB-C5G...

  • Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Gooseneck Trailer Hitch
  • Some trailer manufacturers will void a warranty if an adapter is used. This is the biggest con if trying to determine pros and cons. You will need to contact the trailer manufacturer to determine if the trailer warranty will be voided if an adapter is used. If the trailer has a Lippert chassis then I recommend using a Goose Box adapter because when used with a Lippert chassis and pin box, it will not void the warranty. There are 2 Goose Box units available. First is # RP94622. It is...

  • Can the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection AM3225 Install Over a Bed Mat in a 2012 Ford F-350
  • I spoke with my contact at Andersen about the Ultimate Connection # AM3225. He stated that on a rubber type mat or spray in type of bed liner you can use this adapter. The adapter should not be used with the plastic type of bed liners because it would not be a secure enough connection. For the best results Andersen stated that trimming the bed mat where the adapter would set will provide the best connection. I have included a link to a video review of the adapter for you. • Advantages of Using Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection # AM3225 Versus Other Adapters
  • The Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection you mentioned, part # AM3225 is an adapter used to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch equipped truck. The best practice is always to use a fifth wheel hitch for a fifth wheel trailer and a gooseneck hitch for a gooseneck trailer. When this is not possible, an adapter will come into play. The huge advantage provided by the # AM3225 over other adapters is that the AM3225 does not need to be permanently attached to the fifth wheel....

  • Are Safety Chains Required with Anderson Ultimate Hitch
  • Although safety chains are not specifically required to use the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection # AM3225 we would still recommend you use them. Your trailer should have chains on it and the gooseneck hitch should have safety loops. You will want to make sure that the safety chains are routed in a way that they will not bind up with the # AM3225 when turning. Check out the review video for this product that I attached also.

But if you have a short bed and want to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck trailer hitch an offset adapter like # CAB-C5GX1216 is not going to give you any extra clearance when making tight turns because the pivot point does not change.
