Note: BOLT locks permanently code to only 1 vehicle. They cannot be re-coded or re-keyed.
To install this lock simply insert the ball into the coupler's ball socket. Insert the collar into the base plate until it's snug against your trailer latch and the holes align with the holes in the base plate. Insert the lock through the holes in the base plate, and use your vehicle's ignition key to secure it.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the bolt trailer coupler lock for one and seven-eighths inch, two-inch, and two and five-sixteenths inch couplers. This is for the GM center cut key. Now, this lock will work with most Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC cars and trucks that use the center cut key. The product page, if you go to the product page of this part number, it will have a list of vehicles that it works on. Now, this is a universal coupler lock. It will protect your trailer from tow away theft by preventing hook up.
It uses a lock cylinder. It uses the bolt technology. What that is, this will code to your vehicle's ignition key. Basically, when you insert the key into the cylinder, the spring loaded plate tumblers will move up and down until they're matched exactly to that key. So the first time that key is put in and rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key.
When you remove the key, the cylinder moves into the locked position and when you put the key back in and turn it, it will rotate to the unlock position. Now, one note is, the bolt locks permanently code to only one vehicle. They cannot be recoded or re-keyed. Also, on this lock cylinder, they use a six-plate tumbler sidebar on the lock, which prevents any picking or bumping of the lock. Now, the baseplate and the shackle, it's all a hardened steel hardware for extra security. If you notice, they have an interchangeable ball on this steel baseplate.
This inserts into the ball socket on the coupler and they have two different sizes. The one I have installed already fits the one and seven-eighths inch or the two-inch couplers. The larger one will be used if you use a two and five-sixteenths inch coupler. The steel collar, let me slide this steel pin out here. This collar, right here, or shackle, this is what will restrict the coupler latch movement, so when you put your coupler in there, you drop this over it, up against the latch, lock it into place, and that keeps the latch from opening. If you notice, they have a nice red and black color to them.
It's a powder-coat finish to help resist corrosion. And they use a red color on the plate, that makes a visible theft deterrent. Now, this does include everything shown here on the table. It includes the bolt cylinder lock, the base plate with the two interchangeable ball sizes, the steel shackle that fits most coupler and latch styles, and the steel pin that goes through that this lock cylinder will attach to, and a nice set of detailed instruction. Now, what I'm going to do now is just demonstrate this on a coupler, to show you how it operates. I happen to pull a two-inch coupler. This fits onto a two-inch diameter ball and is a latch-style coupler. What you can do is take your shackle off. Then that's why I've installed the smaller ball here, fits the one and seven-eighths inch and two-inch couplers. You just open your coupler, drop it onto there, latch it into place, now you're latched to the ball plate. Then you'll take your shackle. Now, if you notice on the plate, itself, there's two rows of holes here. You want to run the shackle through the set of holes that will cover this latch. The ones in front won't work, because it won't cover it. So you'll need to use the one in the back. You can see that goes over that. You drop it all the way down completely, up to the latch. Then you put it through the pin that will work. Once you get the pin lined up, there we go, get that into place. Then we'll line the pin up, slide it through to the other side. Once you get it through all the way, then you take your lock cylinder that you already keyed, and push that right on there and it will lock it into place. Now that shackle is down on the latch. You can't open the latch to release and there's nowhere you could hook that up to, to tow your trailer away. So it's all locked secure. To remove it, just slide . put your ignition key in there, remove your cylinder. Slide your pin out, remove the shackle, then you just lift up on your latch, unhook your coupler. Just as simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the bolt trailer coupler lock for the one and seven-eighths inch, two-inch, and two and five-sixteenths inch couplers for the GM center cut key.

This universal coupler lock protects your trailer from towaway theft. Lock codes to your vehicle's ignition key, and it's nearly impossible to pick or bump. Included lock, base plate with ball, and shackle fit most coupler and latch styles.Using on my Aluma car trailer. Fits well and instructions well written. Can even combine with latch pin for added security. Uses my Toyota truck tailgate key as advertised.
Ordered it and received it in two days, Outstanding, everything worked as expected. I now have the 5 padlocks, receiver lock, and trailer coupler lock all set up using my ignition key, I love the fact I don't have to use 7 different keys and always have the key with the truck. Great stuff.
Great Product. I never have to hunt the key because it is keyed to my GMC Canyon ignition key.
Was really happy to get this "off hitch" coupler lock along with a locking receiver pin and an "on hitch" coupler lock that are now all 3 keyed the same as my ignition key for my pulling vehicle. Put your key in and turn it to the right and you are done. Should have sought this solution a long time ago.
One of the better locks available for a decent price. Easy on and off, requires a cutoff wheel to defeat. I liked it enough to buy a second one.... thus, I can put two hoops on one red base and be even more secure.
I just bought this item and I can't say how much of a great product this is! From ordering, to having a video to show you how to assemble and then demonstrate on how to use it properly was a big plus! And finally it's made in America!!
