After it has been secured in place, this Blaylock EZ Lock renders your trailer's coupler inoperable, giving you peace of mind. Simply slide the lock around the lip of your coupler, push the 5/8" diameter pin into the coupler's hitch ball recess, and push in the lock mechanism. The unit fully surrounds your coupler to prevent access to the hitch ball recess. The sturdy steel pin extends to the top of the recess, and the pin cannot be accessed while the unit is locked.

Today were going to review part number BLTL-38. This is the Blaylock Easy Lock Coupler Lock for 1 7/8-inch and 2-inch light duty couplers. This coupler lock will prevent theft of your trailer that has a ball coupler that uses a flat or rolled lip on it. To give you an idea of a coupler like that I have an example here. This is a Fulton straight-tongue coupler. Its a 2-inch hitch ball coupler, and if you notice it has the lip on the outer edge here so basically what this lock would do this lock will fit over the couplers lip right here, and when you put it over there it fully surrounds the hitch ball coupler to block access to the hitch ball opening.
This 5/8-inch diameter steel pin will slide up into the hitch ball opening and then with that up there you just push the lock closed and it would lock the pin into place. Thatll prevent removal of the lock. Thatll secure it to the coupler. The lock right here is located on the front of the unit so its easy access. The recessed tumbler on the inside will provide extra security.
Now this lock does have a keyed alike option. When you order this you can select keyed alike and you can order multiples of this lock with the same key or you can have it keyed to the same other Blaylock push button style locks you might have. This lock is made of an aircraft grade lightweight aluminum which is strong and resists wear and corrosion. These two keys are included. The part is made in the USA.
To unlock it you just put in in there and turn it and youll see the pin drops out and you can just slide it off the lip of the coupler. Again this application will fit 1 7/8-inch and 2-inch light duty couplers. Now the maximum coupler width, in other words the complete overall width that this will fit onto is going to be 3 , and basically we say that because if we measure the opening in this is going to be 3 so nothing wider, your coupler cannot be any wider than that 3 inches. This Blaylock unit is a perfect heavy duty replacement, but with a better lock plunger design and a more secure key cylinder style. I also like the aluminum casting, as here on the Oregon coast, the corrosive air can ruin a lesser trailer hitch lock design. This unit fits all of my trailer couplers, and it deters theft by being bold and obvious. It is unpainted aluminum color, but I paint mine a bright color to help deter theft from a distance, as when the trailer's are parked in a fenced area.
I cannot rate it 5 stars just yet because I just received it today. But, it has a little weight to it and fits perfect. Plus I like the idea of Aluminum so no rusting. Will it stop a determined theif-no, I dont think so. But it is a good deterent.
I have a Demco DM 15000-52 2" 10000 lb coupler on my boat trailer. The way the coupler is made, a typical coupler lock with the bar that wraps the coupler won't work. This lock fits the bill perfectly. The BLTL 38 is made for 1 7/8" & 2" couplers. I think the BLTL 36 (2") would have been too wide.
A little loose but works on my Carry-On 5x8SPW (Tractor Supply branded). I like that it is made in the US. It would be even better if I could use my own lock on it, though. Thank you to E-Trailer customer service for patiently helping me measure and even emailing a list of products that would fit for me to choose from.

Still using it a year later. It has an easy life because it only gets used when we need to leave the trailer behind and take the truck somewhere else, so its still in great shape and works well. The trailer and stored lock are kept inside at night so it is not used then.
There was an unexpected shipping delay by the vendor, however, Bridget kept me informed with status updates throughout the delay.
When I got the product, I took it out to the boat trailer for a trial fit. Got a scare when it only slid on half way. I couldn't see that the little tongue lever that slides under the ball when tight was protruding down just enough to keep the lock from fully sliding on. Once I realized that, I lifted up on the locking knob to pull that little lever up and then the lock slid all the way on. Good to go now!
I dropped the rating one notch because it would have felt weird giving a security device an excellent when it is made of aluminum.
I love the Blaylock EZ Lock coupler. I own two locks and have been using them for over 3 years without any issues. No rust, no lock binding, very light and easy to use and store. I plan to buy a 3rd lock for my boat trailer to replace a Master Lock that is a great nuisance to remove.
Great quality and perfect fit on my 2" light duty ball coupler!

Thanks for the email. I use both items constantly and theyve held up very well. The Blaylock coupler lock is exposed to the elements 247, and I take a little preventive maintenance by lubricating the keyway with WD40, but it has worked flawlessly. The trailer dolly is a back saver. Im very happy with both purchases and Im sure Ill be making more in the future.
Solid construction. Easy on/off with no excessive movement on hitch.

Holding up great, working as expected.
This lock will serve it's purpose, I'm not a big fan of barrel keys as they do not fit on a key ring well, are bulky, and harder to get a copy of. The product was not secure in the package, and was allowed to bounce around with the other items in the box. More care should be taken with packaging.
Strong lock which we plan to use on our travel trailer. We ordered the wrong size the first time, but etrailer helped us get the right one when we called. It arrived 2 days later and is perfect.
Great fit on my trailer tongue. A little fiddly to get it locked but once locked seems quite solid.
Thanx, everything was received and installed. Only side note was that some of the hardware for the spare mount was missing, but the replacement was only .25
I bought a BUNCH of these all keyed the same. Alot of then are doing great, a few are not fairing so well. I had 1 completely fall apart.
I have placed two orders with etrailer and have experienced nothing but exceptional service and quality goods. I will continue to do business with them for as long as I have a need, because I know I can count on them!

Fits great Easy to operate
First I must say etrailer is great to work with. Customer service 2nd to none!! Now the wheel lock: Looks nice and works OK. I’m still not convinced it is securely attached to vigorously prevent a determined thief but it does look tough! Of the three lock settings smallest is too tight, medium is just a little loose. The box it came in showed protective caps on the ends. Mine arrived with no rubber caps. It does scratch my nice teardrop custom wheels.
let me start by saying I am new to the trailer travel world and had to make many quick decisions about security for my teardrop. That being said, this is a very handsome device. On my trailer it does not fit super-snug but enough to thwart would be thieves (I think). I see pictures of this device with rubber covers on the ends...my arrived with none. They are quite important because without it this device scratches the wheels. Wheel locks in general appear to be bulky, this one is quite streamlined and easier to store. If I was to purchase a wheel Lock again this one would receive serious consideration.
I like the build and quality of this coupler lock. It's great that I don't have to worry about it rusting, and definitely feels like it would deter most theft attempts. I'm sure it could be taken off with enough effort and heavy tools by someone motivated but that can be said for many coupler locks.
These are excellent wheel locks. They fit my ST185R13 alloy trailer wheels with drum brake perfectly. This is on a 2007 Fleetwood Cheyenne pop up camper. I put large heat shrink on the ends because they no longer come with the protective rubber end caps which is silly. They will scratch your wheels if you don't cover the ends of the clamps. I did have to squeeze a bit to get the lock in, but I call that a perfect fit. Blaylock needs to start including the rubber tips again.
Nice and sturdy coupler lock. Works great and the multiple holes for the locking pin provide lots of flexibility.
This lock system is simple and weather exposure should not be a hindrance for removal when needed.
I would like to see the pin made of hardened steel. May get a machinist to fab one up out of a harder Rockwell rating.
Painted it Orange and it contrasts very well to the black trailer frame.
This is a visual que for those passing by the county road, that the coupling has 'something' on it.
The Master lock appears to be of a higher quality the the same design but sold for storage unit use. It may be made by Master but have no way of knowing. The lock operates very smoothly and the stainless body is perfect for outdoor application.

Works better than ever. I ordered additional keys barrel style keyto add to the convenience of using this lock on multiple trailers.
