Video Transcript for MaxxTow MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack Review

Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with etrailer.com, today we're going to be taking a look at MaxxHaul's tire rack. So this tire rack is going to be ideal for those situations that you just need a couple spares. Let's just talk about the enclosed trailer and toy hauler applications. This enclosed trailer has four sets of tires. So if we're going cross-country somewhere, we're going to make sure that we have these special four tires just in case we have multiple blowouts. If you're going to, let's say the track where you have sand dunes, a track, you're going to need sand paddle tires and you can't use both.

So you'll be able to store those sand paddle tires whenever you're not using them. Also, if you're going to the racetrack, the drag strip, you might have a set of slicks and then a set of racing tires. Literally, whatever it is, whatever tires you're not using, you can store them either in your toy hauler or even in your garage. And if you're putting this into your garage or your shed, I know I have two extra sets of tires for my Tahoe. Just because I have my winter tires that are brand new, but I don't want to put them on until it gets cold and I really need them. So they're just sitting in my shed.

If we put it on the wall, it'll look a little bit neater and I wouldn't be really embarrassed to see just a big old stack of tires in my shed. So we are going to be able to use tires from 11 and three-quarter inches in diameter, all the way to 30 inches in diameter. This one in particular is about 27 and a half. So just to give you guys a visual cue of what that would look like on this rack. And that's what these different mounting holes are, and if you look in your instructions and measure the diameter of your tires, it'll tell you which mounting holes they recommend. Not only is this going to make your toy hauler, trailer, or your shed more organized, it's going to look good too.

On top of that, you got more floor space. So this does have a sturdy steel construction giving it 300 pounds of weight capacity. So the tire rack itself is going to stick out about 22 inches from wherever you mount it to, but we can also collapse this up. All we got to do, is just do that. Very, very simple. And when it is fully collapsed, it has got to be about two and a quarter inches off your mounting point.

So our main mounting bracket here is going to be about 20 inches, and where the mounting holes are going to be, we're going to have three inches, 10 inches, and about 17 and an eighth inches. And when it is folded down, it is going to be about 29 and a half inches tall. So it does stow away pretty nicely, and then whenever you're ready to use it again, ready to go. So as easy as this was to install, a lot of our customers we're asking if anybody put two next to each other, a lot of people do. And you got to remember, we did save a lot of space in our toy hauler here, so why not just put one underneath of itSo let's just go ahead and I'll show you how easy it is to install. So before we start drilling holes, we want to inspect the tires that we are going to place on our tire rack. I just want to make sure if I mount it, it's not going to be hitting our roof here. So I went ahead and did that, and then once you figure all that out, we can grab our lag bolt here, and I do have a one half inch socket. And what I want to do is kind of mark it up here, make sure it's what I want, and then go ahead and screw that in. It might help to have an extra helper, but I'm going to see. I'll show you guys how easy it is to do it yourself. I'm not going to tighten it down all the way, because I want to make sure. I'm going to make sure it's nice and level, but then we can go ahead and just drill all those in, make sure it's level and then tighten them down.So we can go ahead and do that same exact process on this side. It might be a good time to get a level out and make sure everything's lined up properly just so our tires aren't leaning one way or the other. So now I can install our bars. We are going to want the threads to be on the outside. So it's like the unthreaded portion of the small bar, insert into the unthreaded portion of the big bar. And I did measure the diameter of our wheels and it is between 26 and 30. So we're going to use hole two and hole five. And we found that in the instructions, we're going to get this bolt and a pressure watcher, feed it through here and get it threaded in. You can thread it in by hand on both sides, and you can go in and tighten it down. It does come with the tool, so you don't have to worry about grabbing one. So this is going to be your end product. Obviously make sure everything's nice and tight, and then you can go ahead and put your tires. So we do recommend tying these down because when you're on the road, it's going to be a little rocky. As you can see, they are securely in place, but they are going to do a bit of moving. So let's just get them nice and secure just so they're not falling on whatever else we might have in our trailer. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to fish this through the circle of our tires, and we're going to end up putting the straps, and we actually, these are etrailer.com straps and they have a little safety thing here I like doing that just in case you just know it's not going to be able to wiggle its way out of there. So we'll do it on the horizontal support. So once you get everything nice and strapped down, you can see how secure these are. And that's going to give you a lot of peace of mind knowing that these tires aren't going to be going all over the place damaging your trailer. But thank you everybody for taking a look at the MaxxHaul tire holder..

These tire racks are awesome! I was going to build some and checked etrailer.com, whom I've purchased from before many times. No way can I make these at this price and these features. Plus, by ordering three, no shipping. I should have bought four! Already ran out of rack space in my garage/shop. I overlapped the brackets on the inner two locations to make them super compact and align with my studs. Super fast delivery too.

Product was easy to assemble and mount. I would not recommend for use inside a trailer with all the movement and the weight. Both of my racks started to bend with one completely breaking. If going to be used at max length with large/heavy wheels, I would recommend welding the tire support tubes at a minimum and maybe additional reinforcement and wall anchors to keep tires in place as well.

Great idea, lousy execution. I bought this to relocate my extra winter/summer rims and tires off of the garage floor and out of the way. See the picture. The frame of the rack is too small for my "standard tires" from my GX470. I'll make my own like I was going to originally. What a waste of time.

Product works great. I added plywood to them and added a ton of storage. Super easy install.

This unit works great and stores away nicely when it's not being used. I fastened it to the wall in my enclosed trailer so I can put my UTV wheels on it in the winter time when I have my tracks on. The package came on time and with everything pictured. The lag bolts that they send out are to long to mount on a trailer wall but I'm sure the ones they sent work great on other applications. you can pick up shorter lags at any hardware store.

I couldn't be more pleased with my dealings with etrailer and the tire rack I bought from them. Ordering was easy ,it was easy to put together and the tire rack was a lot stronger than I expected plus it arrived at my home in a couple of days. I would highly recommend etrailer and there products.

Purchased 3 racks and put them up today. I set them up to put 3 mounted racing tires in each rack and they seem to be a great product for the price. If I had the room I would have set it up to hold 4 tires each. Although I have not pulled down the road yet with loaded racks, I would have to guess that they would hold 4 of my tires and rims easily. Really freed up a lot of floor space and would buy again.

Worked perfect in my 8x12 racing trailer. I needed an extra spot for the Hoosiers for the quad I race and this was great. If I had a larger trailer I would definitely get another rack. I thought for the price it would be a cheaply made piece but I was wrong. People at the track were impressed and a few are talking about getting one. Thanks

Just ordered these for the wall in my garage. I would challenge anyone to find a better tire rack for 4x the price. I paid almost 200 bucks for the last tire rack in my trailer and i would say these are equal quality at a price that's amazing. The welds for the threaded bungs in the rods are good, paint quality is good and I'm really happy with them.

Great and sturdy, install was a good 15-20 minutes

Installed quickly and easily; good quality product; item shipped as promised (way faster than I would have expected with COVID around =); site was easy to use; good communication from company to me regarding purchase. A positive experience, and now my tires are off the floor!!!

The tire storage rack seems well made, and it was easy to install. Delivery was very quick and packaging was adequate. I'm really pleased to get my wife's snow tires off the garage floor!

This rack is a bargain. I bought 3 for the summer/winter tire exchange. They get the tires up and out of the way but still easy access. The install is very easy and all the materials to do a professional job are included.

- MT70489
by:

Easy to install and well made, I had to get the correct fasteners for my trailer as it has metal framing studs.

- MT70489

A little lightweight but works well for my use. Easy installation

- MT70489

  • Installing MaxxTow MaxxHaul Folding Tire Rack To The Side Of A Trailer
The MaxxTow MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack - Adjustable Width - Steel # MT70489 would need to be secured to the studs of the trailer wall. Screws or bolts would not need to go all the way through the trailer exterior. It is adjustable to fit your studs or you can mount a plate first and secure the rack to that plate.

  • MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack Mounting Hole Dimensions
The MaxxTow MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack - Adjustable Width - Steel # MT70489 will mount to your 1 inch square aluminum studs. The mounting holes are 0.39 inches so a 3/8 inch machine bolt is my recommendation. Unfortunately we don't have the hardware to assist. It would be best to use a through bolt for the best weight support. A carriage bolt would look the nicest. Because you have aluminum and steel, you will want a zinc plated bolt, lock washer, and nut.

  • Can MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack # MT70489 Attach to Trailer Walls that have E-Track
The MaxxTow MaxxHaul Folding Tire Storage Rack # MT70489 that you referenced is designed for attaching to trailer walls like what you have and has an adjustable width of 32 to 48 inches. We do not have a way to attach it to an E-track setup but you should have no problem attaching this around the tracks installed on the walls.
