To complete your towable anti-lock braking system (ABS) for trailers with disc brakes, you'll also need:

  • Wheel speed sensors (335R955335 Kodiak disc brakes, 335R955338 Dexter disc brakes, or 335R955341 Kodiak disc brakes)
  • Sensor mounts (335ABS-SENS-ASSY Kodiak disc brakes only)
  • 4 Wheel speed sensor cables (335449-713-018, 335449-713-030, 335449-713-050, 335449-713-070, 335449-713-090)
    • Each of the 4 wheel speed sensor cable lengths will be determined by the mounting location of the ABS control module

Note: Hydraulic brake assemblies (rated 7K or higher) and brake lines are required but not included.

Video Transcript for Tuson RV Brakes Trailer Brakes - Disc Brakes - 335ABS-DLNE-1600 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Tuson 4 channel towable ABS set up for hydraulic disc brakes. The Tuson Acculink Electric Hydraulic Anti-lock Braking System is designed to greatly improve vehicle stability during braking by maintaining high levels of rolling resistance braking and preventing tire lock up. Now this kit includes everything that you see here on this table. What I mentioned is especially true on wet pavement when tire lock up can easily occur. When trailer tires lock up, the trailer can easily slide to the side. The ABS module keeps the trailer tracking straight behind the towed vehicle at all times.

The unit is compatible with trailers that have up to 3 axles, and it's designed for trailers with a minimum axle rating of 7,000 pounds.Again, the kit comes with everything you see laid out here on the table as well as the necessary documentation for each component. The kit includes the DirectLink any brake controller. That's all of this right here. Now, this is a small but powerful network computer that links your vehicle's computer network to your towable brake system so that the brakes of both vehicles work seamlessly together providing superior responsive tow braking. It offers critical diagnostic data from both the tow vehicle and the trailer that can easily be viewed on the color display in real time right here on the monitor. The brake controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action.

It also monitors the ABS system functions and assists with error codes if a system fault occurs. It comes with the necessary wiring for installation. It connect directly into your vehicle's OBD 2 port. It also includes the cable ties for mounting the box, and it comes with the dash mounts as well for mounting this monitor. So, it's a really nice system to have. It's very easy to use.

This can be mounted in any orientation, and it can be completely hidden underneath or even behind or inside of the dash area on the vehicle. Now, the kit also comes with the AccuLink electric hydraulic actuator. That's this unit right here. We got the large reservoir for the brake fluid. We have the connection points for the lines.

We have the wiring port in the harness that plugs here on the back side. The unit provides responsive braking and can monitor key towing functions, and it's digitally linked to the brake controller. The mounting brackets, which are located right here, and the hardware, those are included for mounting the actuator. Again, wiring is included, and the wiring diagrams can be viewed in the included documents.Maximum output pressure is 1600 psi, and then the unit also includes the towable anti-lock brake module. That's this box right here. Now, this unit monitors the ABS wheel speed sensors and independently adjusts braking level at each brake. It has 4 unique multi valve channels that are controlled by the high speed digital network. The network computer monitors each tire separately and then optimizes the level of rolling resistance braking for each one. Now, during aggressive braking, this module holds the maximum level of braking without locking the tires, which results in reduced stopping distances and greater braking stability. It mounts using the two existing mount holes located right here, and it mounts with two 3/8" bolts. It is recommended that you also use lock washers. To complete your towable ABS set up for trailers with disc brakes, you will also need wheel speed sensors, sensor mounts, and sensor cables. These items are all sold separately and available at etrailer.com. Just keep in mind the cable lengths needed for your particular installation will be determined by the mounting location of the ABC control module. Also, note that hydraulic brake assembly is rated 7,000 pounds or higher and brake lines are required, but not included.Right here on the front of the module, it does have an important sticker right here that needs to be taken into consideration. It says, "It's very critical that the hydraulic lines and the wheel speed sensor cables are connected properly to the ABS module. Connect them as shown below." And so the diagram is located right here. We have our different ports, so port one is purple. So you find the purple wiring, and that goes to the driver front. Gray goes to driver rear, and then the other two colors, passenger rear and passenger front. So that's nice that that sticker's located right there. We have the necessary connection points for all the hydraulic lines. And again, just keep in mind that to complete your towable ABS setup, you will need wheel speed sensors, sensor mounts, and sensor cables. Also hydraulic brake assemblies rated 7K or higher and brake lines are required but not included. You can find everything that you need that's not included right here at etrailer.com. And that's going to do it for today's look at the Tuson four channel towable ABS setup for hydraulic disc brakes.
