Disc Brakes

An increasing number of trailer owners are switching over to disc brakes, and with good reason. Disc brake calipers have only one moving part, as opposed to the many moving parts you find with drum brakes. This means that with disc brakes there are fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged and fewer parts to repair or replace, thus reducing the cost of maintenance.

Performance increases as well. Disc brakes deliver consistent braking even at highway speeds, unlike drum brakes, which often show a substantial drop in braking torque at higher speeds. In addition, disc brakes offer a much shorter stopping distance than drum brakes.

Model 60 Leverlock Trailer Brake Actuator

Titan's complete disc brake kit makes the conversion easy. Designed for tandem-axle trailers, this kit includes not only the disc brake assemblies themselves - along with all the necessary lines, fittings and mounting hardware - it also contains the Model 60 Leverlock actuator. This hydraulic brake actuator has a higher psi rating for disc brake applications and includes an electric reverse lockout so that you can back up without activating your trailer's brakes. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round or 7-pole wiring harness.

Hydraulic Line Kit

Note: If you intend to run brake lines along the axles of your trailer to install disc brakes - as is often done for boat trailers - you will need 2 additional hoses (T4890700 - sold separately) and 2 extra hose clips (T0776400 - sold separately) with brackets (T0776300 - sold separately) to complete the installation.

Video Transcript for Titan Trailer Brakes - Disc Brakes - T4843200 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Titan dacromet finish disc brake kit, and lever lock actuator with electric lockout, for tandem 3,500 pound axles. Now this all inclusive kit has everything you need to switch your trailer over to disc brakes. And disc brakes will deliver better performance, gives you more consistent stopping, even at highway speeds, and shorter stopping distances than most drum brakes. This part will include everything shown here, laid out on the table. It includes four disc brake end kids. So you'll get four of the dacromet finished hub and rotators assembly, with the five on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. You'll get all the bearings, both inner and outer bearings you would need.

The bearing races will be pre installed in the hubs. The double lip grease seals are included. And the bearing protectors are all included also. You also get four of the dacromet finished calipers with the mounting brackets. And the stainless steel bolts are included to install the caliper to the mounting bracket. Now the hardware to attach the mounting brackets to your brake mounting flange, that is sold separately.

Also comes with the brake pads in the calipers. Comes with this Titan bolt on, zinc plated lever lock brake actuator with a 7,000 pound capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator'll synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow vehicle brakes. It is a lever lock coupler design. This ensures easy, secure connecting.

You just push on it to unlock it, open it up, drop it onto the ball, and then push it down, and it'll lock into place. It is an adjustable ball design. It is designed to fit 1-7/8 inch diameter hitch balls, two inch, and 50 millimeter balls. The whole actuator is zinc plated for corrosion resistance. The break away kit at the top here, is all included. And one of the main features, I want to turn this around just so you can see what we're talking about.

At the very back, it does include an electric reverse lock out cylinoid. This'll let you back up without actuating your trailer brakes. And if you notice, has a shield installed on it, to protect the cylinoid. This actuator is a bolt on installation. There's your mounting holes right there.e and the mounting hardware to install this is not included. And it also comes with the brake line kit, with the brake lines and fittings for a tandem axle.A few specs on this kit. The application, again, is for tandem axle trailers. The axle capacities would be 3,500 pounds each. The wheel size that'll fit on these is 14 inch diameter to 15 inch diameter. The overall rotor diameter, edge to edge, is 9-3/4 inches. We had mentioned the bolt pattern is five on 4-1/2 inches. And the brake mounting flange configuration, in other words, the mounting flange that's on your axle, needs to be a four bolt design. That's what this'll bolt to.And the actuator right here itself, again, we mentioned the ball size it'll fit on is 1-7/8 inch diameter, two inch, or 50 millimeter. The mounting, this is designed to mount onto a three inch wide channel tongue. The weight capacity on the actuator is 7,000 pounds. And the maximum tongue weight is 700 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Titan dacromet finish, disc brake kit and lever lock actuator with electric lockout for tandem 3,500 pound axles.

I added a second axle on a boat trailer and upgraded brakes to disc with this kit. I launched about 10-15 times, half in brackish half in fresh water, and have put about 1650 miles on the trailer in the past year. I typically spray the wheels down after the 100 mile trip home from brackish water, but probably didn't a few times. I've had no issues with the brakes and they stop the trailer very well (5000lb trailer with an 4000lb tow vehicle ('95 Tacoma)). A few observations: I would not recommend the installation without a vacuum brake bleeder - it's difficult to manually pump the coupler and bleed and would take a long time (I started that way before pulling out my vacuum bleeder). Also, make sure to connect the reverse light lead; I didn't before my first test drive and was unable to back up my relatively flat gravel driveway in 4WD since the slight incline compressed the coupler and applied the brakes. Lastly, sometimes when backing the empty trailer at the boat ramp, the wheels lock. I believe this is since the solenoid that releases the pressure goes through a rather small orifice and it takes a while to bleed off the pressure. This has only been a slight annoyance and not real problem. Overall, a very good product at a great price. 580370

The packages came pretty quick. My trailer was originally equipped with disc brakes however they were not maintained by the previous owner and everything except the main part of the frame was rusted completely. I’m glad the main frame is aluminum otherwise I’d have to buy a new trailer. I was very happy with the shipping time from when my order was placed to when it was shipped. UPS didn’t really take care of the packages and it looked like they were tossed around but luckily no major damage occurred. Everything I ordered were in the 3 packages I received. I just replaced the trailer tongue a couple days ago and upon prepping the axels for the brake system that arrived I noticed the axels were rusted beyond repair to the point I can’t even drop the boat in the river to install evertything because I fear one good pot hole or bump and the axels will separate. I’m going to pick the new axels this weekend and install them along with the new brake system. Everything looks fantastic so far and I cannot wait to get this done so I can take my boat out again. I would love to submit before and after pictures once the brakes and new actuator have been installed 540454

Installed on trailer that was previously drum brakes. Had no significant problems with installing new four wheel Titan Disc Brakes. All parts were in the kit and instructions were clear. They function great and have had no problems. 301817

I do not recommend purchasing this kit!! First issue was the packaging the parts came in. The heavy calipers and rotors were packed in a box, loose, with the bearings and seal. Bearings and seal were just in a plastic bag. No packing material to keep the heavier parts from damaging them. One of the seals was damaged bad enough that I had to purchase another one locally and install. Second issue was one of the calipers had a casting of "China" in large letters. Only one of the four calipers had this casting. They proudly advertise "Made in America" on the website. Third issue was the fact that several parts were missing in the shipment: The bleeder valves, dust covers for bleeder ports, banjo bolt and block assembly adapter and bolts to mount caliper to adapter plate were all missing. So during shipping, the two ports on all of the calipers, were open to atmosphere, inviting contamination. The pictures on the website clearly show yellow plugs installed in one port and the bleeder valve with cover installed in the other. The banjo bolt assembly is an odd, non automotive size and was impossible to purchase locally. I immediately started trying to call etrailer customer support line. After several days of sitting on hold, each time for about an hour, I finally got through. The agents response was "I will have to contact the manufacturer and get back to you". I asked if they had these parts on the shelf. The response was no, we do not. So if I need spare parts in the future, they will not be able to provide them. I asked how long that would be and they responded with: "hopefully before the end of the day". Two days later I got an email saying simply that " I have contacted the manufacture and I am waiting for them to respond". Another 3 days pass and I finally get another email stating that the parts will be shipped with a delivery date that ended up being 9 days after the initial contact with etrailer agent. So overall, it took a little over 3 weeks from the date of the order to finally get all the parts I purchased. There were no apologies from the agent of any kind, an offer to discount the order or even a credit toward additional purchases. This is a very long ways from "71 Years of Great Customer Support". 410068

All 6 boxes of my shipment arrived with no damage. All parts were wrapped and packaged well inside the box. Have not installed kit yet but all the parts appear to be good quality. The staff was very helpful with all of my questions and followed up when with me when they didn't know the answer to one of my questions about the rotor. I'll share that question and answer here. Two of the 4 rotors had a channel ground out of the edge. See Picture. Marti didn't know the answer but contacted her tech department and they informed us that this is how Titan will balance the rotor at the factor. 458391

Order was shipped right away and received in less than a week. Complete set. Everything you need except wheel bearing grease and brake fluid. Swapping out the old drums and installing the discs was pretty straight foward. All bearings and hardware included with bearing races pre-installed. I did purchase separately 16 grade 8 mounting bolts rather than re-use mine. Instal took me about 8 hours of labor. I did strugle with the steel brake line instalation. While directions seem simple, it doesn't quite work out that way. Steel tubing needs to be mounted on the trailer frame. In order to transition from the frame to the axel, you need some type of rubber connection since the axel is moving and the frame is not. Tech support confirmed, I need to mount all steel lines to the frame. So after running the 19' line to the frame rail just past my rear axle, the 30" section is about 36" too short to reach the frame rail in front of my front axle. End result, I had to re-use a 48" piece of tubing that I just removed. All in all, I made it work. Hind sight, I would have ordered with the Kodiak flex line kit for $100. Would have made installation a whole lot easier for sure. Installation of brake lines took me about 5 hours with boat on the trailer. Titan actuator and bleeding. First off, directions for bleeding actuator with a 2x4 are rediculous. I quickly found out this is not going to work. Requires a lot of pressure to force closed. What they don't tell you is how difficult it is to pull the actuator back into place. I have a suction device that I use to remove engine oil from the dip stick tube. I simply attached a 1/4" ID clear plastic hose to the bleed valve, gave it a few pumps, cracked the bleed valve and BINGO. Perfect suction. Worked like a dream. Just be sure to be standing at the actuator reseviour to keep it full of fluid. Level drops quickly using this method. I bled each caliper 3 times over 3 day period. I also found the Titan actuator a little difficult to connect to 2" hitch ball. I had to pull forward and backwards a bit to both couple and uncouple hitch in order to lock into place and unlock. Perhaps it will get easier as I get used to it, but is was a little frustrating in comparision to my old actuator. Road Test. I pulled forward and applied brakes in short bursts to get the caliper cylinders to move all the way out to make contact with pads and rotor. After about 3 brake applications, you need to check actuator fluid level. I did this about a dozen times, refilling reseviour 3 times. Also, DO NOT over fill reseviour once you have everything final adjusted. Application pressure will force out fluid thru fill cap. Directions say fill to 3/4 full. Good advice. Overall I am very pleased with both eTrailer and the Titan product. 185272

I am a Marine Mechanic in the Pacific Northwest and these kits get everything thrown at em.100% humidity "never quits raining". Tequila shots got lime but no salt.Thats ok just lick the fender on your car and guaranteed to harden your arteries. I use these kits mainly on salt water trailers and they are awesome if you take the time to wash the trailer after exposed . Just my 2 cents 431737

This company is great! Kept me informed from the minute I ordered. Was normal shipping time quoted, then they told me that due to manufacturer issue they wouldn't be able to deliver till middle of January! My package came three days later and was also part of their free shipping program for Christmas! Great company can't say enough about them! 327381

Order was shipped and I received it quickly. The amount of tubing that came with the kit was not quite enough. I had to get some extra brake line from the local parts store and cut/flare it to work. It was not difficult running the tubing however a complete flex line kit would have been much quicker and easier. This kit would not clear my 13" wheels and had to go with 14's. When I was bolting the wheels on I accidentally messed up the threads on one of the wheel studs. Called etrailer, titan, etc. and nobody had replacement wheel studs for it. I finally found the correct wheel studs. They are made by UFP and the part # is 32498. 232979

5 weeks later and the project is finished. Would I still buy from Etrailer? Yes. Was it easy? No. Salesman assured me that the actuator would work for my trailer so I ordered. After receiving product...good shipping.. determined that the actuator was too small after my specifically asking if it was the right part. Hassled with return and ordered the right part. Finally got this all straightened out. New actuator came with broken cap...no problem they sent me a new one once the had one in stock a month later. there are no instructions that come with these parts so you are on your own as far as the install is concerned. The only issue with this was the plates that the calipers mount to can go on 2 ways with only a small difference either way so it took a couple of tries to get this right but other than that it all worked out in the end but would have saved me a great deal of time and hassle had they answered my questions right when I first ordered. 187879

First off, the customer service was top-notch. Questions that I had were answered quickly and smartly. I did have issues that I’ll get into, but responses could not have been more helpful. Shipping was fast, and given that the total order was about 150lbs. the free shipping was a real treat since the product was about the same price as other vendors that charged for shipping. Everything arrived in good condition with proper packaging. I ordered the disk brake set with lines and actuator. I also bought 4 springs. Now for the dislikes: No instructions with anything. Nothing. The “Instructions” button on the website was empty too. I was on my own. Not that it was super complicated, but I had to redo a couple of things when I realized I had done them out of order or improperly. Instructions would have saved me this time and aggravation. Google was my friend. The bolts that connect the brake mounting flange to the axle flange were not included, and this was not noted on the web page. Not a great expense, but my work for the day was done when I realized that the hardware was not included with the kit and my shop was closed. Bolts to mount the actuator to the trailer were not included either. Again, not a great expense, but at least TELL ME that I’ll need to have them on hand. The steel brake lines were WAY too long for my double axle trailer. Since I did not have a flare tool for cutting and reflaring, I had to bend the lines into this Dr. Seusse looking rig to get every thing to fit, and even then the mounting brackets were useless since it was nearly impossible to get everything to fit right and still have the bracket come out at the correct angle to mount to the axle/trailer. There was also an issue with the bearings. In one of the hub kits I got two inners and no outer bearing. That’s not etrailer’s fault though. I had to get one from my shop, and etrailers put one in the mail to me immediately. All in all though, I would buy from etrailer again and I would recommend them. 187809

eTrailer, outstanding service and super fast shipping!! I can't believe I recieved over 100lb worth of boxes free! Now to the actual kit: product as advertised. Complete kit to start new or convert from drum. I have never installed brakes myself, so this was the first time. No directions provided with the boxes except for some coded text for the accentutor. So don't expect to have step by step install guide. (Unless you actually read the email eTrailer sends you which I didn't do until I was about to write the review) The Titan site sucks too and don't hope for directions there either. When you install the calipers, 2 of them will have the bleed valves at the bottom so be sure to swap them up. I had a hard time bleeding the brakes following the Titan directions which are to use the 2x4 method. Luckely my buddy Will showed up and showed me that the cover on the accentutor can be removed. Once you do that you can just pump them using the brake away lever. Other than that, I am super happy with the product and eTrailer has new loyal customer. 175078

Great kit, awesome quick delivery. Would be good to include axle nut cotter keys to lock the nut with in the kit. Everything else included except brake fluid. Be sure to bench bleed the master cylinder on the surge brake before bleeding the brakes. Also had to torque the bolt holding the brass swivel block to the caliper to 40 ft lbs to make it seal. Have them installed, haven't pulled the trailer yet. Looks like a great product 42801

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

Had an issue with some missing parts (caliper slider sleeve missing), however etrailer is taking care of that. The parts are all manufactured in China, but everything did fit and work well so far. When it comes to disc brakes on a trailer that is going to be dipping into salt water on a regular basis, it doesn't make sense (to me) to go for the real costly parts when they will need to be replaced again in several years no matter how much rinsing you do when you pull it out of the water. 561842

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

I had a lot of issues with a used Boat trailer I Just purchased. The surge break system was totally shot. So I decided to upgrade to disc brakes. The kit arrived in two day, The kit was very complete and easy to understand after viewing the Videos on the site. The one problem I had was I should have ordered the bolt set for the kit. I had planed to use the old bolts but they were a bit to short. After the bolt set arrived the install went very quickly. Tip Use a hand operated Vacuum pump to bleed the brake lines. (They are available at other stores for about $20) Be sure to keep the master cylinder full of fluid. Everything now works great. 503932

If the intended market for this kit is a trailer-maintenance professional, the kit is OK. If the intended market is a DIY boat owner, then some caution is in order. I am the later. I am not a mechanic, or anything close to one. I did complete the installation, and the brakes work perfectly. 141885

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

I have a 1999 Zieman double axle boat trailer. I had issues with the coupler sticking, in turn dragging my trailer brakes. Needless to say, they needed to be replaced. I found this kit after talking to the extremely knowledgeable customer support folks at etrailer.com. A few measurements and part numbers later, I was in business. As always, the order process was pleasant and the parts arrived ahead of expectation. The installation went very smooth. Tandom axle trailer, yet brakes only on the rear. The old drums came off nicely and the new rotors and calipers installed quickly and easily. The instructions show the calipers at the 12:00 o'clock position, so make sure you rotate them to 3:00 and 9:00 respectively. The new steel brake lines were exactly the right size and installed in the same holes/brackets as the old lines. I was able to bleed the brakes by myself on an inclined driveway and a clear hose into a clear container. I just used gravity in my favor. Lastly, I installed a 5-way flat and bought the 7pole to 5pole adapter for my truck. I was very impressed after the first road test. What a difference! These brakes work great and are a quality product. Wouldn't expect anything else from etrailer.com. Be sure to add more bearing grease after the first few pulls. I have bearing buddies which make knowing when to add grease very easy. This is a no-brainer upgrade to older drum based trailers. 43877

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

I have had this brake package installed on my boat trailer for about a year. The real world, on road performance is very good. The braking power is noticeable but smooth. I gave the product 4 stars (not 5) because the "Made in China" cover that protects the reverse lock-out solenoid is rusting even though my boat and trailer are stored indoors. SUGGESTION: I think the Kit should include or Etrailer.com should suggest the correct 7 prong plug that would include the circuit to supply the reverse lockout. My electric skills are good and I was able to install the correct plug. However if a customer is replacing their entire brake system it would stand to reason they would need all the pieces to complete the install. I'am a returning customer at Etrailer.com and will continue to be. 499541

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

Hello, Thank you for the opportunity to review this product. Overall I am extremely pleased. The price was a major selling point as this was a total conversion on a 1992 boat trailer. The installation was straight forward with no modifications to the axle needed. Every part fit together as advertised and knowing that help was a phone call away was reassuring. My fishing buddies have all had good words about the fit and finish and how much more modern the trailer looks with the upgrades. Thank you again for the great product and the timely service. 241390

Product shipped super fast. The directions were simple, complete, and easy to follow. Installation was easy and fun, even for a guy with minimal hand tools and NO prior experience working on trailers. They look great, even after a lot of highway driving. Best of all, I am completely blown away at how well these brakes work. They stop my 5000lb boat and trailer very efficiently. I have a lot more confidence towing my boat in heavy traffic now. I would recommend these brakes to ANYONE who tows a heavy trailer. 46734

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

Installed in Spring 2011. System is bad because: 1) Design of hydraulic tubing kit is very bad. Kit does not allow for the removal of the brake calipers without disconnecting the hydraulic brake line. To repack the wheel bearings the hard tubing brake lines at the caliper must be removed. Frustrating to have to bleed the brakes each time the wheel bearings need to be repacked. A good kit would contain a rubber brake lines for each caliper so the calipers can be removed without needing to bleed the brakes. 2) Outer race of inner hub bearing is a not a common part. OD is 2.328" which is about 0.040" smaller than a standard, common, easy to find, 1-3/8" bearing. To replace the bearing, you must purchase a 1-3/8" bearing, through away the outer race ($$$) and purchase a hard to find outer race (more $$$$). Lost the use of my boat for 2 weekends while waiting to receive this odd size outer race. WHY NOT MAKE THE HUB FOR A VERY COMMON 1-3/8" BEARING THAT CAN BE FOUND AT ANY PARTS STORE??? What if the bearing fails along the road?!? Leave your boat there for a week while trying to find this odd size race? Strongly suggest that you buy and carry extra bearings and the odd-ball 2.328" OD race if you buy this brake kit. Outer bearing is a common 1-1/16". Seal is a common 1-23/32" seal. 3) Hubs are poor quality. One bearing bore on one of the hubs is oversize by 0.0007". Bearing race spins in hub. Thank goodness for Locktite bearing retainer compound! Hubs are pure junk! Check the fit of the bearing races as soon as you get this kit! 43485

I placed an order for this and was surprised how fast i received it . My experience with this company was great. As for the product. I use a trailer to haul a Utv At a minimum of 3500 miles a year. I purchased this kit for more stopping power. The kit was easy to install and has been a life saver. The stopping distance has decreased significantly . I would recommend this product. 635515

Review from a similar Titan Leverlock Model 60 in Trailer Brakes

Before ordering a brake kit for boat trailer, I contacted eTrailer to discuss my trailer and the specific kit I would require to complete the addition of adding brakes. Not only were they technical, but also provided updates when my order was delayed. The only negative complaint I have is that the kit didn’t have instructions. It seems like a straight forward job, but instructions are always helpful if you run into a snag. Overall, great experience and would recommend eTrailer to others. 550664

I installed this brake kit on my boat trailer that originally had no brakes. Installation was fairly easy as I installed it by myself except for bleeding the brakes. Keep in mind that this kit has no installation instructions. Any info I needed to install was found by watching online videos. You may need a brake line flaring tool as some of the brake lines were much longer than I needed. The Road test with brakes installed seem to work well. I would recommend this kit. 546153

The kit arrived in a timely manner. All in packages in good shape, nothing missing or damaged. Installed on trailer with no trouble, I do recommend you watch the video on the web site prior to starting install. To do a good clean job of installation you should beg, borrow or purchase a double flare tool where you can install everything the right length rather than coiling the tubing. Looks good and works fine!! 457182

While I have not had a chance to go through the packages that arrived yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised that they did arrive way ahead of schedule. I also can not thank Katrina B. enough on her help with correcting my mistake with an online order. She was pleasant the whole time, and has followed up with me to make sure that everything is good. Once I get the packages opened and installed I will be writing another review on the parts. For my part Customer Service goes a long way in to making a happy customer. Thanks Katrina 425051

Ask the Experts about this Titan Trailer Brakes
Do you have a question about this Trailer Brake?

  • How to Determine if Titan Surge Disc Brake Kit T4843200 will Fit Pontoon Boat
  • Yes I can help you pick out a surge disc brake setup for your trailer. The first step is determining what hubs you have on your trailer currently so that you can go with the correct hub/rotors to fit the axles. Pull your hubs off of your trailer. If the bearings in the hub are L68149 and L44649 the part # T4843200 would fit your axle. If you have a standard 3,500 lb axle this is most likely going to be the correct kit. Check out the help article I attached on adding surge disc brakes...

  • Parts Needed to Convert Trailer with Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes
  • Based on the sticker on your trailer you have two 2,700 pound axles. To determine if disc brake kit # T4843200 or other parts will fit your trailer we will need to go by the bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the existing bearings. The above disc brake kit uses inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing L44649. If you have different bearings let me know what they are. If the trailer has brake lines already then you will not have to get new ones as long as the existing brake lines...

  • Will the Titan Disc Brake Kit # T4843200 Work on a Trailer With Dual Axles at 3700 lbs Each
  • The Titan Disc Brake Kit and Leverlock Actuator, # T4843200, can be used on a trailer with dual axles rated at 3,700 lbs each, however, if the trailer is loaded beyond the capacity of the brakes, then they will not be as effective as they would be within capacity. Keep in mind that this kit is designed for 14 or 15 inch wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. I would also recommend checking your wheel bearing and seal part numbers and make sure they match the bearings and seals...

  • Using the # T4843300Titan kit in the mean time for one axle and then adding brakes to the second axle and converting to electric over hydraulic is certainly an option. And it may even be the best way for you to do it depending on your situation. However, it may be a better option, and save you money in the long run to put disc brakes on both axles at one time using kit # T4843200. Buying the additional parts later to add the additional brakes will be more costly. Once both axles...

  • Converting Hydraulic Drum Trailer Brakes to Disc Brakes on a Boat Trailer
  • You could put disc brakes on just the one axle, but I recommend going ahead and installing them on both since the trailer is set up for it already. We do have a 2 axle kit, # T4843200, that is just a little more cost than the T4843300 kit you have referenced. The main difference between these two kits is that the 2 axle kit I recommended does not...

  • Converting Tandem Axle Boat Trailer from Drum Brake to Disc Brake Operation

The linked article will give you guidance and details each of these components. There is a table included...

  • Could Titan 3,500 Surge Disc Brake Kit Fit on 1999 Trailex CT-7541 Trailer
  • If your 1999 Trailex CT-7541 has 3,500 lb axles then the Titan disc brake kit part # T4843200 is going to fit and work well. Since I don't have a way of looking up your trailer's axle capacity you'd have to verify that. You can check the plate near the coupler of the trailer which has the VIN to see if you can see it listed there or you can measure the diameter of the axles to know. If they are 2-3/8 inches in diameter then that is what you have.

  • Comparing Titan Trailer Disc Brake Kits T4843200 and T4843400
  • There are several differences between Titan disk brake kit # T4843200 and # T4843400. The couplers are different. On T4843400, the coupler is a swing-away style. This requires that you cut the trailer tongue, bolt on the actuator, and when needed when storing, you can fold the actuator back. It also has a higher capacity actuator but both kits are rated for 3,500 pound axles. Other than that the parts are the same. Both kits use bearing # L68149 and # L44649. You will want to choose...

You will also want to confirm that the bolt pattern of your existing wheels is compatible with the 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle discs included with the kit. Because silver-cad plating is some very nasty stuff (very toxic) it's being phased out and will be replaced with the Dacromet plating process. As far as corrosion resistance goes, the only better performer would be stainless rotors and calipers. Stainless would be a much more expensive option. We don't...

However, since your back axle uses hub-centric wheels I cannot recommend a slip-on kit like part # K2R526DKG although this kit matches your axle capacity and bolt pattern.
