Note: Disc brakes require a higher line pressure (1,500 psi) than standard drum brakes (1,000 psi). To achieve this pressure, a brake actuator with a 1,500-psi rating is required.

An increasing number of trailer owners are switching over to disc brakes, and with good reason. Disc brake calipers have only one moving part, as opposed to the many moving parts you find with drum brakes. This means that with disc brakes there are fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged and fewer parts to repair or replace, thus reducing the cost of maintenance.

Performance increases as well. Disc brakes deliver consistent braking even at highway speeds, unlike drum brakes, which often show a substantial drop in braking torque at higher speeds. In addition, disc brakes offer a much shorter stopping distance than drum brakes.

Video Transcript for Titan Trailer Brakes T10HREKITBB Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Titan 10 inch hub and rotor disc brake assembly with the dacromet finish. Has a five on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, for 3,500 pound axles. Now this kit can be used either on a new application disc brakes, or for converting from your electric drum brakes to disc brakes. Set will include everything shown here on the table. Includes the hub and rotor assembly, cast iron caliper with the brake pads included, stainless steel caliper mounting bolts to install it, a mounting bracket, which is designed to fit a four bolt brake flange. Now, the hardware to install this bracket to the flange is sold separately. Also includes the inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, and then the bearing protector with a cover.

Now, the bearing races are all pre installed in the hub and rotor already. Now this kit is a dacromet construction which'll help resist rust and corrosion. Specs on it again, this fits a axle capacity of 3,500 pounds. The wheel size that'll work on this hub and rotor is 13 inch diameter up to 15 inch diameter.Bolt pattern it has is a five on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now the overall rotor diameter, edge to edge, is 9-3/4 inches.

Wheel bolt diameter is half inch diameter. Now on the brake flange, we mentioned it is a four bolt brake flange configuration. Now on the bearings that are included, the inner bearing, which is the larger is a L68149. The outer bearing is the L44649. The bearing races we mentioned are all pre installed, already in the hub and rotor. The seal it comes with is an RGO6-O50.

And it also comes with the trailer buddy bearing protector and the cover. Now one last note on this, disc brakes do require a higher line pressure, 1,500 psi, than standard drum brakes, which are only 1,000 psi. So to achieve this pressure, a brake actuator with a 1,500 psi rating is required. But that should do it for the review on the Titan 10 inch hub and rotor disc brake assembly with dacromet finish, five on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, for 3,500 pound axles.

The brake system is awesome. The best trailer brakes I have ever owned. Unfortunately I had a rock kick up, jam between the trailer frame and brake causing damage to one assembly. The people at etrailer are great to deal with and everything I needed arrived quickly. The entire swap over took less than an hour as the setup is so simple. 584634

  • Parts Needed to Change Electric Brakes on a Tandem Axle Trailer to Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc
For a disc brake assembly I recommend going with the Kodiak Disc Brake Assembly # K2HR712DS for 1/2" diameter studs or Kit # K2HRCM1337-9DAC for 9/16" diameter studs. Both of these kits are for 7,000 lb trailer axles. For the inner bearing use part # 25580, outer bearing use part # 02475, and grease seal use part # RG06-070. If you have two 3,500 lb axles on your trailers I recommend the Titan Disc Brake Assembly # T10HREKITBB (2 for each axle) which comes with inner bearing # L68149,...
