Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at Dexter 12-1/4" E-Coat Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Kit with the 8 on 6-1/2" Bolt Pattern for 7,000 pound axles. Now these trailer brake assemblies will make it very easy to upgrade from your drum brakes to disc brakes for better performance. Disc brakes give you more consistent stopping, even at highway speeds, and even dramatically shorter stopping distances, and they're easier and less expensive to maintain. This kit will include two full brake assemblies for one axle. It includes everything laid out here on the table: the two E-coated hub and rotor assemblies, the two E-coated ductile iron calipers, the four semi-metallic brake pads, two of the E-coated caliper mounting brackets with the bolts or the nuts to install it, even a little tube of thread sealant, and also all the bearings, the bearing races, which are pre-installed in the hub, the grease seals, the grease caps, and the lug nuts. Now, these parts have an E-coat finish on them. It provides corrosion resistance for fresh water or limited salt water use. The rotors themselves, if I turn it here, you can see they're vented, so they help regulate the temperature to prevent overheating. It does include the hubs that'll replace your existing hubs.
The calipers themselves are self-adjusting calipers. They ensure maximum surface contact for a nice, smooth, equal braking. The pads we mentioned, they are a semi-metallic brake pad. They resist heat and provide excellent grip. The mounting brackets, it's a ductile iron mounting bracket.
It provides strength and durability. Now, this system does require a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines. They are required for these brakes to be activated. We do sell those separately on our website. You do want to make sure that the actuator and the brake lines well have a psi rating of at least 1600 psi. These parts are made in the U.S.A. Again, the axle capacity these work on are 7,000 pound axles.
The wheel size that this hub will accept is 16" diameter, 16-1/2", and 17" diameter. Bolt pattern on this is a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. Wheel bolt diameter is 5/8". The total diameter of the rotor itself, edge to edge is 12-1/4". Now, on the mounting bracket, you can see it has the five holes here, so it is designed as a five bolt brake flange configuration. Now, the bearings that are included, they give you the inner bearing, which is the larger one.
This is part number 25580. It has an inner diameter of 1.75". The outer bearing, which is the smaller of the bearings, is part number 14125A. It has a 1.25" inner diameter. Bearing races we mentioned are already pre-installed in the hubs. The double whip grease seals that they include, they are part number GS-2250DL, have an inner diameter of 2.25", outer diameter of 3.376", and then of course the 16", 5/8 by 18 size lug nuts that are used to your wheel and tire assembly to your hubs. But that should do it for the review on the Dexter 12-1/4" E-Coat Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Kit with the 8 on 6-1/2" Bolt Pattern for 7,000 pound axles.
