Towing? There's an app for that. This brake controller connects to your phone with Bluetooth so all your settings are right in your hand. Plus, it's plug-and-play, so no splicing and no permanent alteration to your Ford Van.
Features:
Specs:
Note: If Bluetooth connection is lost, the brake controller will continue to function safely, using the most recently programmed settings. This brake controller is not compatible, but will not interfere, with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The Curt Echo In-Line is all about convenience. With the main unit connected at your 7-way, all you need is your smartphone to control the settings on the brake controller. You won't have to worry about banging your knee on a bulky controller, cluttering up your dash, or ruining the sleek look of your interior.
The Echo is unique for giving you control of your towing through your smartphone. You can set the maximum braking output, adjust the braking sensitivity, apply the manual override - all from the OneControl app.
The Echo connects to the app via Bluetooth. You can save multiple trailer profiles in the app, a big plus if you have a fleet and want to be able to just select a pre-set configuration and get towing. And don't worry: after you've downloaded the app, you don't need to have data on to use the app with the brake controller. You'll be able to receive calls and texts and access your other apps.
OneControl App
Simple, intuitive, and user-friendly, the OneControl App makes it wicked easy to manage your settings and control your trailer.
1. Manual Override
This big orange button in the middle of the app is your manual override. Press and hold the button, and the brake controller will smoothly apply the trailer brakes without applying your vehicle's brakes. This is perfect for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency.
Quick tip: Put manual override right at your fingertips by adding this button (C83HR - sold separately) to your dash. The app must be running for the button to work, but it can be in the background while you use other apps on your phone. The button has an adhesive back and runs on a replaceable battery.
2. Brake Output Indicator
The outer ring gives you a visual indicator of how much power is being applied to the trailer brakes. This is determined by your max output setting.
3. Max Output
Braking output is the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. How much braking output you need is determined by the weight of your trailer; a heavier trailer will need more power to bring it to a stop.
To set your maximum braking output, tap this button and increase or decrease using the + and - buttons. You want to set the braking output as high as you can without locking up the brakes.
4. Sensitivity Level
This controls the aggressiveness of your trailer's braking, meaning how quickly the brakes reach the max output level. This is a great adjustment to make when you're towing a heavy load and the trailer will need more umph to bring it to a stop so it doesn't push your vehicle forward.
Just like max output, if you need to change your sensitivity level, use the + and - buttons. If your vehicle takes too long to come to a stop, increase the setting. If it stops too abruptly, lower the setting. You may also need to adjust the sensitivity based on your own preferences, or when the trailer load or road conditions change.
5. Vehicle Hazard Lights
If you turn on your vehicle's hazard lights, there's a chance the trailer brakes will pulse on and off as the lights flash. Turn this setting on any time you activate your hazard lights to prevent this problem.
Save Multiple Trailer Profiles
Get on the road faster by saving your settings. With the app, you can add and store multiple profiles for different trailers and drivers so that your preferred settings will be ready to go as soon as you hook up. This is perfect if you own a fleet and don't want to have to reset the controller every time you swap trailers. You'll have the ideal settings saved and waiting for you. To switch between profiles, just swipe left or right.
If you like the idea of monitoring your trailer from your phone, the other OneControl systems could be a great fit for you.
The Curt True Course (C94VV - sold separately) is an advanced Bluetooth sway control system that automatically triggers the trailer brakes (independent of the vehicle's brakes and the brake controller) when it detects dangerous trailer movement. The Curt Tire Linc (C54VV - sold separately) Bluetooth TPMS monitors the temperature and pressure of your trailer tires. All of these systems use the OneControl app so you can manage all of them in the same place on your phone.
You won't be dinging your knee on a bulky brake controller or interfering with your vehicle's lower airbags, because the main unit plugs in behind your 7-way using the included USCAR connector. This product comes with an adhesive pad and 4 zip ties to make it easy to mount anywhere. (Just don't zip-tie the box to wiring or cables that can shift as you drive!) Thanks to the 3-axis accelerometer, the main unit can be positioned at any angle. No matter how you install it, the unit will sense the direction of travel and deliver smooth, even braking.
That done, download the OneControl app on your Apple or Android smartphone and wirelessly pair the unit to your phone via Bluetooth, following the in-app instructions. It should take about 5 seconds for them to pair. Once paired, plug in your trailer's 7-way and let the whole system calibrate. Configure your desired trailer brake settings and save it as a profile. Then you're ready to tow!
If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes hard; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The Echo in-line uses an internal 3-axis accelerometer to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to ensure that your trailer slows at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Towing? There's an app for that. This brake controller connects to your phone with Bluetooth so all your settings are right in your hand. Plus, it's plug-and-play, so no splicing and no permanent alteration to your vehicle.Just installed the curt echo but haven’t been able to test it as I haven’t hooked up a trailer yet. The attached images show that this controller is basically hidden under the bumper and it plus in behind the factory 7pin connector.
I love this trailer brake controller because it’s completely hidden, and integrates like it’s OEM. No bulky controller to mount under the dash. It all works via Bluetooth connection.
Only thing I dislike is the price, which is why I gave it 4 stars. This is about 2X the cost of the nice Tekonsha P3, but the nice thing is it can be easily transferred to another vehicle. I plan to keep this Curt Echo with me even if I sell my vehicle.
Notice, Curt makes two versions of the Echo controller. This is the one you want.
Product was easy to install, plug in play into harness. Works great, but you may lose connection with brake controller sometimes during operation, but settings are saved and brake functions without connectivity. The only draw back from losing connectivity with brake controller is the emergency brake button capability for swaying or unstable trailer. Great product and I would purchase again.
The hardware is excellent and the installation was extremely easy. When it's working, it works great! The original software wasn't that great and was a little flakey. It's been updated to a new app, which seems a lot better now. Still hate that I have to log into an app to tow my trailer tho.
I can see how it's plug & play for vehicles (trucks) normally equipped for towing, but I needed to cut off the ends and splice wire connections to get this to work with my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek. Overall it works well, although you become dependent on your phone and the phone app while driving. There was some hiccup with the official app in early 2024 when Curt transitioned app support to their parent company (Lippert), but I solved my issue with one email to their customer support.
This works well, but if I could go back in time, I probably would have purchased a wired brake controller.
Received my inline echo brake control module, installed fairly quickly took a bit to sync the system though, time will tell if it truly works like advertised installed on my F150
Product works great. Easy to control and fine-tune. I received an open box product, though, which was not discounted or mentioned on the product page, and all securing/fastening hardware was missing.
Had it for a year and really like its functionality!. Being a first time camper trailer owner I’ve been quite nervous about how the Rik handles on the road and this breaking system seems to function very well with respect to the needs of the camp trailer and my jeep gladiator.
Works perfect and easiest installation
Bluetooth connection is great and the app use is easy
Great trailer brake! Installed myself in under a 45 mins.
Safely stops my loaded 14' utility trailer on wet and dry
roads.
I bought this cause I thought it would be something good in my truck. I didn’t have to drill in the dashboard. I was excited for it didn’t use it for quite a while, but I had it when I went to go use. It could never find the seven pin kept saying it was not connected when it was deleted app reinstalled app, same thing and you don’t have any customer service since they switched the owners
This was installed on a 2022 Toyota Tacoma
I use it to brake a Winnebago Hike 100 RV
Installation was very easy and clean.
Operation is also very easy. You need to adjust the maximum output and sensitivity to fit your automobile and trailer.

A good way to verify operation is to try stoping over gravel.
Just a quick update - here's what worked (or will as soon as I get the Volvo factory module programmed):
This writeup is for the Stealth hitch #SH87FRT, installed with the Curt Echo #C79DR
The existing Stealth cable for Volvo SPA chassis (like the 2017+ XC60) is designed for a 'clean install' on non-trailer brake installations.
The Curt Echo model #C51180 _will not work_, since it would cause the 7pin trailer connector to protrude to nearly ground level.
The Curt Echo #C79DR can be used, but requires the supplied Stealth cable to be modified to add USCAR 7 pin connectors connect to the Echo controller.
Using an USCAR extension cable (like this one from online store), cut the cable approximately in half. (NB - I'm sure y'all can supply)
Strip back the ends of all wires on the extension cable, and attach butt splice connectors to the newly stripped leads.
Unwrap the cloth tape from the Stealth supplied cable, approximately 8-10" from the large Volvo plug, and find the loose end of the blue wire.
Cut approx 6" from the blue wire.
Cut all 6 wires remaining in the Stealth cable.
Strip the ends of all 6 wires, plus the blue wire end.
Splice the wires from the MALE extension cable to the Volvo module end of the Stealth cable. Follow the color coding except: a)there is no blue wire coming from the module, so that will remain unused. b)the purple wire will match with the red wire in the extension cable.
Repeat for the Female side of the extension cable. There is now a match for the blue wire, so all 7 pins will be used.
Plug the USCAR connectors into the respective connectors on the Curt Echo controller cable, and connect the cable to the control module.
Attach the control module as per the Echo installation instructions.
Works great! If you don't like the echo mobile awkwardly sticking out of your plug, this is the sleeker alternative.
Fast-N-Easy install. Takes a bit of experimenting to Dial-In the settings, but totally worth it. Well pleased with my purchase. Highly Recommended.
A great easy system that works on my Tacoma. Took 20-30 minutes to mount and install. Worth every penny spent.
The product is still in my hands so I have not had a chance to look at it, give a month or two
Great item. Great shipping.
Super easy to install. Use the bluetooth pin on the box. Works great and remembers your settings.

A year later I’m very happy with this Bluetooth trailer brake controller. No question this is the only real option for a modern vehicle, as you don’t have to drill holes and mount anything under the dash. It was very easy to setup, and was totally plug and play. Price is very high compared to the previous generation of brake controllers, but it’s worth it. This is the way.
