Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at a replacement U-bolt kit. This is going to be designed for the 2000 pound axles, looking for an inch and three-quarter axle diameter. You can see how they're designed to fit around your axle with an incorporated plate here and hold that axle to your spring pack.Now, I think it's crucial anytime you replace an axle that you replace these U-bolts. Over time, of course, they're going to get stressed and they're going to get strained. They can even stretch out on you.
And basically by getting a new set, not only do we have new hardware, so we don't have to worry about any cross-threaded situations, we get new lock washers and a new plate down here, by getting these new U-bolts, you can rest assured that your axle is going to be held securely to your spring.When we just throw our old U-bolt kit back on there and we start torquing it down, there's no way for us to know for sure that it's actually holding to the values that we want. So definitely keep that in mind. I think that anytime I replace an axle, I always get a new U-bolt kit for it. Talk to our customer, explain to them the benefit and let them know that by replacing that you get that peace of mind and you know that you're not going to have any issues with it down the road. And oftentimes it's hard to get the old nuts off.
They're usually rusted onto the U-bolts and you generally have to wind up cutting them. So in my mind, if you're ordering an axle, definitely get a replacement U-bolt kit. So when you do get everything there, you're not running around trying to find it. It's a very cost-effective way to freshen everything up and get it ready to go.Now, when we install our U-bolt kit, essentially we'll take two of the U-bolts and they need to go around our axle. In our case, our axle's sitting on top of the spring so we put the spring perch right on the bolt that sticks out, because that's going to be sitting right in there, right in the middle.
Then our plate needs to go on the opposite side of that. And if we look down low, you'll see that bolt's also going to come through the center hole on that. The two outside holes, we've got our U-bolts that come down through. Then we're going to place a lock washer and we're going to place a nut on each one. Once we've got that done, we need to equally tighten these down to get them nice and snug.
Then we'll torque them to specifications. Now we'll just head over to the other side and repeat that same process there. We'll be ready to go..

U-bolts, plates and nuts included.I purchased this kit for the standard 5' x 8' 2,000 lb. trailer from Lowes. I did an axle flip and added larger tires. This is the perfect kit for this trailer. It went on easy, and the bolts were slightly longer. Also the bolts in this kit were fine thread instead of course thread. Overall an improvemet over the factory hardware and I had no issues. Shipped in a timely manner and packaged well. I highly recommend this kit if you plan on flipping the axle or need a replacement.
These should include lock washers or jam nuts. There is nothing to keep them tight. I added lock washers and jam nuts for added tightness. Extremely fast shipping. Well packed.
Looked under my trailer and the u bolts and plates wer rusted away, it's an old trailer so I had no details like make or model number. Called and talked to Kelly S. She was very knowledgeable and overly efficient! Got my parts super fast, the u bolts wrer very thick and the plates were even thicker. Quality parts at a good price. I inherited an aluminum trailer that ended up needing a complete overhaul and etrailer was the best resource I could have found. After researching extensively to find out what I needed and watching their videos on how to do it I ended up ordering an EZ-lube axle, galvanized hubs, springs and a hanger kit (in other words everything from the frame down). Everything shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. All the parts worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier!

I am restoring my Carry On trailer and the U-Bolts were a rusty mess. E-trailer had what I needed and it is the exact product as the original, so yes, this product does fit Carry On trailers sold by Tractor Supply Company. This is a great product at a very reasonable price.
Product was exactly as described and has held up well for the year I’ve owned it. Customers service, shipping, everything was on point. If I have trailer needs in the future I’ll definitely be shopping here.

Jim D - 01/02/2021Did not end up using, as the previous U-Bolts were still in good shape and had nylock nuts. Be aware that these have 24 TPI threads, not the expected 16 TPI. This is published in the description on the web, I did not read all of the words that were so carefully written. etrailer did everything right on their end.
Thom K - 07/07/2015Old spring seats were rusted away, replaced the seats and u bolts, etrailer showing the measurements makes it easy to know you are getting the right parts
As advertised. working properly
this ujoint kit appears to be complete however the spring seat is not a kit and only comes with just the one. So you need to know to order 2. this is has cause me a delay since I had to order another. The info should be there to warn the buyer they need a quantity of two or come with two if it's sold as a kit like item APUBR-10 ---the ubolts.

After purchasing an order of springs, shackle kit, U-bolts, bearing kit and a new Pro jack for a trailer repair I discovered a week delay in shipping due to one of the items on back order. (Email the day after I ordered informing me of the delay) A call to Angie K. On that Sunday!!!! I received the u bolts and plate assembly to replace the ones on my trailer as I had to replace the springs. These are a perfect fit and exact replacement on what I had. These came quickly and will work as expected.
Richard C - 09/30/2020Looks to be of great quality. Would recommend tightening to only 30 ft lbs. I initially started with 50 and managed to slightly bend a plate. Overall very happy with product.

Used these on replacement of my trailer springs after hitting an area of the road that had evidentally washed out. These fit great without having any issues. Just bolt on and tighten.
Was just what I needed I should have ordered with my new axle and hubs
