Video Transcript for What to Know About the Bulldog Winch 3/4" Bow Shackle

Narrator: Today we're going to be taking a look at part number BDW20020. This is bulldog 3/4 inch shackle. Now shackles are going to provide a good, strong, secure connection point for wind chain and towing set-ups. It's going to be great for connection to recovery straps, tow straps, or tree saver straps. This is made from a forged alloy steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice silver zinc plating finish, so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. Now the body diameter is where we're going to get that 3/4 inch measurement from.

The diameter of the pin, this is going to give us the diameter of 7/8ths of an inch. You can see here it's got the threads on the end. It is a screw pin design. It's just going to allow you to easily get everything set up and make your connections as necessary. You can see here with it removed, we could easily take the exposed ends of our straps and place them right in here, just like so.

So it's really going to provide that really good connection point for our recovery straps or tow straps or tree saver straps, whatever it is that we need to connect to our shackle. But with that pin removed it allows us to easily make the connection. Again that pin's going to give us a diameter of 7/8ths of an inch. It's got a nice large tab over here so we can easily get the pin in and out. Now the shackle's going to use a, again, forged alloy steel design. Oversized tab.

The other thing I like about this is it has a small little hole in there, so if you accidentally get this too tight to where you can't loosen it up by hand, you could easily stick something in that hole and gain some leverage, if needed. It's going to offer a break strength of 57,000 pounds with a working load limit of 9500 pounds. One of the measurements I want to take for you real quick is just the opening size that we have right here. Inside edge to inside edge looks like it's going to measure about an inch and a quarter. That's going to do it for our review of part number BDW20020. This is the bulldog wench, 3/4 inch shackle.

  • Recommended Vehicle Recovery Strap And Receiver-Mounted Shackle
The ring on the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is approximately 1" thick. The Bulldog Winch 3/4" Bow Shackle # BDW20020 has an opening of about 1-1/4". This will work, but it will be a tight fit. I recommend going with the Bulldog Winch Bow Shackle # BDW20117. This has an opening of 1-3/4" which will be plenty to fit the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045. You can then use tow strap such as Erickson Recovery Strap # EM59600. • Where do the Saftey Chains Connect on the Husky Gooseneck Hitch Part # 31368
The Husky Gooseneck Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails part # HT31368 has built in connection points in the middle on both sides to connect your chains to. By design the holes will sit away from your truck bed by your rail thickness. In some cases with larger clevis hooks they may not be able to engage. If this is your situation use two of Bulldog Winch 3/4" Bow Shackle part # BDW20020 for a total capacity of 19,000 lbs or two of Bulldog Winch 7/8" Bow Shackle part # BDW20021 to maximize the...
