Sturdy, Built-to-Last Tow Bar

Excalibar II Tow Bar

The Excali-Bar II - the tow bar with the highest weight capacity in Demco's Victory Series - is tough and built to last. Sturdy, modular steel construction offers the strength you need to pull up to 10,500 lbs. Two hitch pin holes allow you to position the tow bar closer to or further from your RV, without sacrificing load capacity.

The black powder coat finish protects against the elements and flying road debris. And stainless steel inner arms provide additional durability and allow for smooth operation. Quality-engineered pivot points and hardware ensure both strength and maneuverability.

Excalibar II Tow Bar

Fast, Easy Hookup

Excalibar II Independent Arms

With independent, easy-to-maneuver arms, the Excali-Bar II makes connecting your towed vehicle to your motorhome a breeze. Unlike most tow bar arms that move together along a single plane, the Excali-Bar II tow bar arms operate completely separately from one another. A vertical bolt through the head of the tow bar keeps the arms positioned one on top of the other, allowing for a more fluid hookup. The arms pivot horizontally on this bolt, allowing for an unlimited spread so that you can hook up to base plates with almost any spacing. A built-in joint at the base of each arm allows for vertical movement so that you don't have to tilt the entire head when positioning the arms.

Excalibar on 2018 Jeep Cherokee

The arms telescope for easy extension to your base plate connection points, even if your towed car is not perfectly aligned with your RV. The self-supporting design of the arms also allows you to telescope one arm out and attach it to the base plate without having to worry about supporting the opposite arm at the same time. The arms lock into place when you're ready to tow, and the extra length of the arms allows for a better turning radius. By putting more distance between your motorhome and your towed car, your entire setup will become easier to maneuver so that your towed car will track behind your motorhome without running the risk of hitting your RV during turns.

Non-Binding for Simple Disconnect

Excalibar II Non-Binding Design

The built-in trigger releases make it easy to disconnect the Excali-Bar II. Tension can build up in a telescoping arm when the RV and towed vehicle are not perfectly aligned. Engaging the trigger on each arm releases pressure and allows the arms to telescope freely, making it easy to disconnect the tow bar from the base plates, even if you are at a hard angle or out of level.

Each trigger release latch is positioned on the side of the tow bar arm. This allows for a comfortable yet firm grip, unlike latches that are positioned on the tops of tow bar arms, which can be difficult to grab. This out-of-the-way placement of the latches also creates a clean look for the tow bar.

Base Plate Compatibility

Excalibar II on Jeep Cherokee

Towing your vehicle behind your motorhome is simple and stress-free with the Excali-Bar II, especially when paired with Demco custom-fit base plates (sold separately). Victory Series tow bars are designed specifically for use with Demco Classic and Demco Tabless base plates, which means they allow for easy hookup without the need for a bulky crossbar.

When using the Excali-Bar with Demco Classic base plates, simply place the lugs inside of the base plate brackets and use the included pins and clips to secure each arm in place. Demco Tabless base plates include brackets that mount on each tow bar arm, eliminating any protruding brackets from your vehicle and allowing for a quick, quarter-turn hookup of each arm.

If you have base plates from a different manufacturer on your towed car currently, an adapter may be available. Demco makes adapters for use with other manufacturer's base plates so that you don't have to go through the added hassle of replacing the connection points on your vehicle.

Type of Base Plate Use Adapter
Roadmaster Crossbar-Style (XL, EZ, EZ2, and EZ4 series) DM9523001
Roadmaster Direct-Connect (EZ5, MS, MX series) DM9523032
Duncan DM9523017
Reese Tow Champ and Valley Industries DM9523019
Blue Ox DM9523041

Straight, Vinyl-Coated Safety Cables Included

Excalibar II Vinyl Safety Cables

Two straight, vinyl-coated safety cables provide added protection should the tow bar ever disconnect during towing. The cables are held off the ground by the included mounting clips. These clips keep the cables from dragging on the ground, preventing damage and tangling. Steel S-hooks with spring-loaded latches connect each cable to your towed vehicle's base plates and to your motorhome's trailer hitch.

Excalibar II Storage Rod for Cables

The tow bar also offers a convenient storage rod for securing your coiled electrical cord (sold separately). The rod holds your power cord neatly out of the way and up off the ground.

Versatile, Secure Storage

Excalibar II Bar Storage

Independent arm movement also allows for storage versatility. Easily store the tow bar out of the way, alongside your RV. The arms can be folded up to the right or to the left, or you can fold one arm to each side so that they are parallel to your motorhome's bumper. Just pivot each arm into position and a peg at the base of the arm will snap into a built-in tab, latching the arm in place so that you don't have to worry about it coming unfolded during travel.

Excalibar II Arms Store to Left or Right

For added protection, slip on the Demco tow bar cover (DM9523042 - sold separately) while the tow bar is folded up either to the left or the right against your RV.

Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.

There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

Towing Basics

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

First, etrailer has come through again. I've been purchasing various components and towing related parts from them for years and never once had an issue. Great work guys. Now on to the product review of the Demco Excali-Bar II tow bar. Right away I liked the fact that it had the breakaway cables pre-mounted and attached to the underside of each tow bar. It makes it very easy to keep it all neat this way. The cables are also polyurethane covered, so fraying shouldn't be an issue from rubbing. The next cool thing is that the tow bar has a built in 3in raise or drop to make the installation parallel to the towed vehicle, plus there is two hitch pin locations for further lateral adjustment. The driver side tow bar also comes with an umbilical cord rod that allows you to keep the electrical umbilical cord attached to the bar without the risk of it dropping down on the pavement during travel and getting chewed up or ripped off - also keeps it clean and eliminates one less thing to consider each time when connecting and disconnecting. Stowing away also gives multiple options as the two bars can either be both on the same side (driver or passenger) or they can be split (one on each side). I purchased the Demco base plates, so no special adapters needed for my vehicle. Tow bar hook up and disconnect takes no more than 5 min. The release levers work as advertised and allowed to disconnect the tow bar even when the towed vehicle wasn't perfectly aligned. These base plates were the only ones that didn't require any drilling or cutting of the trucks frame or other cladding. In all, the Excali-Bar II tow bar is worth every penny. 643821

There is at least one feature that other tow bars do not have; the safety cable is fully integrated in the tow bar. It otherwise functions as designed. I would recommend this tow bar without reservation. 677038
