This complete kit includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent feedback and wire your car to operate as a combined system. Includes a 7-way to 6-way straight adapter cord.

Specs:
Note: For applications that have separate lighting, this kit will cause your brake lights to function as both brake and turn signal lights. A wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes will be needed if you want to retain separate turn and brake signals.
Separate vs. Combined Lighting Systems
Some automobiles operate on a 3-wire system, wherein the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. (Typically, these vehicles have amber turn signals.) This is referred to as a "separate lighting system". When you hook up for flat towing using this kit, your towed car's lighting system will operate in a combined fashion regardless of whether it typically has combined or separate lighting. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried on a single wire. As a result, your car's brake lights will do the flashing for the turn signals. Your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.
Do You Need a Brake Light Relay?
Because this kit wires your vehicle as a combined system, a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.
Average Customer Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (179 Customer Reviews)
This complete kit includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent feedback and wire your car to operate as a combined system. Includes a 7-way to 6-way straight adapter cord.1 star is simply for the fact that the straight cord is too short. Bought to use with a road master tow bar. Since I needed a drop hitch to line the tow bat up with the toad I needed about a foot more cable. Tried to make do with the one supplied. I ended up having to spend an hour in the parking lot of an rv store wiring up a new one on my first trip. You would think for [local stores] you have to pay for this they could spring for a little extra wite.
See my review on the Base Plate. The electric was a little wonky but my mechanic met with the manufacturer and was able to figure it out. That said, once it was resolved, it has worked flawlessly.
Not enough wire! The grren wire barely made it to the right turn signal and there def wasn't enough extra white wire to jump the diodes. I ended up buying more wire at an auto store, maybe I shouldn't have ran it inside the car, but I made it work.
Also for installing on a combined MH to separate car, the video did not talk about the jump wire for the tailights, I figured that one out from the diagram.
I ordered base plates and the wire harness, the wire harness would not allow for brake, running, and turn signal lights, I had to omit one, the turn signals. The base plates where difficult, requires removing the front of the car. the video did not state the distance front to rear, I was a half inch to far forward and the fog light would not fit.
Works as expected. Connection feels solid enough. Have not had the opportunity to take it on a long trip yet.
One thing bit us in the butt, forcing us to cancel a trip at the last minute (when testing that our towed vehicle's turn signals, brake lights and supplemental brake system was working before driving off!): the left-turn signal prong in the male part of the connector (that plugs into the towed vehicle) was not opened enough, so no steady connection was being made because there was no contact between the prong and the walls of the female part. This had worked in a previous test. Picture included. Make sure to use a flathead screwdriver to open each prong up so full contact is made!
Overall, I am pleased with the kit. Splicing into the taillight wiring on my 2015 Honda Fit was a little tricky because of the very small harness gauge wire but it does the job. I did have to pick up some extra wire and wire loom in order to route it where I preferred around the driver's side and install the connector on the baseplate correctly, so I would recommend some extra matching wire so you don't end up short.
The wiring kit is not correct for a 2021 Tahoe but your website says it is a confirmed fit. Confirmed by whom? No way, no how that kit will work on a 2021 Tahoe. This fact calls into question the "confirmed fit" claims made on the rest of your website in my mind. Everything else on the order is fine.
I chose the order by phone option. The website is well organized, but, I had gone too long without hearing another person. I have received several orders from etrailer after purchasing an RV last summer. I knew we would be Purchasing a Toad.
I don’t have any experience with towing another vehicle, so I had plenty of help in finding the right equipment for me.
The delivery times were all easily tracked and arrived in good condition. As md on time.
I had the simple tools required to install the base plate and hitch. The videos available on their site are clear and easy to understand.
I have had a great overall experience with etrailer.
Etrailer is very knowledgable about the products they carry. I am very happy with the items i received.
Over-all, the Roadmaster products were great! I watched all videos for install several times. I went through the Jeep frame-rail front-to-back. But I did not loop the wire kit up unto the engine compartment just to cut and splice for the supplemental brake system. I called etrailer and asked whether there was an issue bringing the supplemental wiring directly to 6-wire plug which seemed to be a new concept with no answer either way. This actually worked well and ended up as a cleaner install with fewer cuts/splices
Very straight forward install, easy to follow instructions. If you do this your self be prepared, the factory light wiring isn't very long or thick it was difficult to strip the wire back far enough to double it over to get a good connection. Upon completion of the wiring, I double checked all power at both plugs, it was all good, I installed the lights, brake and turnsignals worked great, I didn't have any running lights. About 3 min later they came on and stayed on. I don't believe this has any thing to do with the kit, this vehicle has all kinds of light sensors, darkness sensors, rain sensors.. etc. I believe it just too a min or 2 for the lights to actually come on.
I haven’t had time to install this product yet, but I know it’s going to work exactly as the customer service is always superior to get the right parts sent.
A solid product to include great installation video.
After three tries, eventually recieved correct wiring kit. Unfortunately spent alot for shipping.kit install was simple
Works fine but I get a turn signal warning on my sprinter van. Everything works fine, I just have to clear the warning on the dash.
Great products as always and exceptional customer service, very helpful. Thank you
I rate my experience as a 10. Satisfaction beyond expectations. Will use in future and Would recommend using etrailer for your trailer needs.
Have not had a chance to install yet but product looks to be substantial and instructions appear clear.
I had a Toyota Tacoma that has separate blinker lights. Took a mechanic that was knowledgeable in electrical wiring. Followed the instructions and it worked perfect. Used it several times since
Self installation directions were easy to install. Many trips and zero problems!
Did not receive
Just what I needed to set my truck up for flat towing. Super easy install
For a pickup it's pretty tight in regards to the lengths of wire. I went straight through the frame and I just had enough..
Works as designed but wish i would have got the curly cord vs the straight cord between my Entegra and jeep
does the job well!
