Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751475

Avoid damage to your vehicle by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom fit for your vehicle

Note: If you are installing a trailer brake controller on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, this stop light switch kit may be required.

By tapping into your towed car's brake-light switch, this kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at Roadmaster's line of custom stoplight switch kits. You'll want to refer to our fit guide for the appropriate switch kit for your vehicle. Here on our motor home we have our indicator light that's connected to our stoplight switch. When this light illuminates, we know that our braking system that is installed is applying the brake pedal in our towed vehicle. And we're going to get this signal thanks to our stoplight switch. Here when I hit the brake in our motor home, the light's illuminated so I know that our braking system is working properly. This stoplight switch is going to provide you with an additional brake stop signal. This is important if you're flat towing a vehicle that doesn't have a brake signal when in tow mode.

Without a signal you'll have no way of monitoring whether or not your brake pedal is being depressed. You can use this stoplight switch to connect to the indicator that comes with your supplemental braking system so you can verify for sure that your brake pedal's being depressed when you hit the brakes in your motor home.In most instances it'll be well hidden or blend in with the rest of the wiring down below so you won't even notice it. Here you can barely even glimpse the switch itself. And the kit comes with everything you need to get it installed. This includes the switch, the wiring, the fuse and the custom bracket that's specifically made for it to mount right onto your vehicle.

The bracket's really what makes it custom for your vehicle. It allows the switch to mount seamlessly and easily adjusts to the contour of your brake pedal.A less common use is for a brake controller. If your vehicle doesn't have a compatible brake signal for your brake controller then you can install one of these and get that signal for your brake controller to easily hook up to your trailer. And that completes our look at Roadmaster's line of custom stoplight switch kits.

Ordered parts for installing a brake controller. The videos that are part of the web site were a great help in selecting all the needed parts, detailed down to the part numbers that were needed. I really like the fact that there is a video showing the brake controller installation with my specific vehicle. Great service ! 462995

This is a great device. The reason I bough it from ETrailer is because of customer service. They are super helpful. Place the brake as suggested and try it out. Works just as expected. 376097

Installed in 2016 Ford Edge Titanium. Had to buy additional cable connectors that were not included in the kit and instructions did not specify they were required. I would have given 5 stars if it was at least mentioned in the instructions. 366814

Do you have a question about this Tow Bar Braking System?

  • 7-Way Trailer Connector for a 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
  • In order to install a 7-way trailer connector on the rear of your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 you will need to use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118649 with the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. Unfortunately, they do not make a wiring harness that splices into the taillights and give you a 7-way trailer connector therefore this will be your only option. If you will be towing a trailer with brakes then you will still need to use part # 118649 but instead...

  • Parts Needed to Wire Brake Controller to 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter with Green Connector
  • Since you have brake controller pre-wiring already on your 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 you would not need to use a stop light switch like part # RM-751475. We don't sell a connector that plugs right into it, but you can still use it to wire up a brake controller like the P3 part # 90195. You'll need to cut the connector off and then wire the vehicle wiring to the controller's wiring. On the controller the blue wire is the brake output circuit which runs to the 7-way of the vehicle,...

  • Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
  • There is no plug-and-play brake controller harness for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 so brake controller installation will be a hard-wire process. Under the driver's seat there should be a green plug. The wires to this plug can be tested with a circuit tester like # ALL640595 to confirm their function since vehicle wire colors are not always consistent. A brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 has 4 wires that require connection to the Sprinter. The black wire is...

  • Everything looks great. The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118649 is confirmed to fit your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500. It will install by connecting directly to built-in ports located behind the trim panels in the cargo area on the driver and passenger side. Once plugged in, you will just need to run the hot lead up to the Sprinter's battery. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference. Then, the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 is exactly...

  • The correct Roadmaster base plate kit you need for a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium without active cruise control and a V6 is the part # RM-524454-4 that you referenced. This base plate is perfectly compatible with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar part # RM-520 that you have as well. These two would work great together. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry...

  • The items required for safe and legal flat towing are outlined in the linked overview article on towing a vehicle behind a motorhome. You will also want to check that the hitch and the MH's frame both are rated adequately for the total weight of your trailer (and the Edge too, of course). Starting with base plates, you can use the Roadmaster kit # RM-524448-4. These fit the Edge without 2.0 EcoBoost. For a car-mount tow bar you can use their StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501. • Recommended Parts to Flat Tow a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium
  • Yes, disconnecting the battery with a Quick-Disconnect, like the Deka part # DW05312, will be the easy way to go when it comes to disconnecting the battery on your 2017 Ford Edge so it can be flat towed. Disconnecting the battery prevents it from draining while you are flat towing. Since the owner's manual states that the battery must be disconnected I strongly recommend following those instructions and not trying to get by it somehow. That is one of the down sides to flat towing with...

If you have a connector under the dash send me a picture of it and I'll see if we have something that will work for you. Since you have the tow package with a 7-way trailer connector you'll just need the wiring kit # 5506. You'll also need a brake pedal switch # RM-751475 because of the wiring system of the van. • Is Brake Light Required when Using a Supplemental Braking System on a 2017 Ford Edge

But since your vehicle brake lights do not light up with the ignition off you will need to use the stop light switch kit # RM-751475. This proportional braking reduces the "tug of war" feeling between the dolly and the tow vehicle. • How to Obtain Brake Light Signal in 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis
  • The ground (cold side) of the brake light signal in a Sprinter can sometimes be found in the wiring above the brake pedal.
