Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751471

  • Stop Light Switch
  • Roadmaster

Avoid damage to your towed car by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

Features:

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom-fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Works great on my 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Makes the tail lights work as they should.

by:

Turned out I didn't need this kit for my application. Quinn F was very helpful when this was discovered and was able and was able to grant full refund for the returned kit.

Worked great

Still working great, in fact added another unit to second vehicle

by:

This product worked exactly as described. Some things to be aware of.
1. It's a yellow dichromate plated solenoid. Not plastic grey. Nice
2. The video for the 2018 Cherokee shows a 4 bolt brake booster. 2019 Cherokee has a 5 bolt brake booster that has a black plastic frame. Use the same bolt location in the video and it works great. You'll need a deep socket and extension. 13mm.
3. PUT the solenoid on BEFORE attaching bracket. If for some reason you forget, Have someone depress brake pedal and then there's plenty of room to install.

by:

The product showed up at the time I was told it would. I installed it and it fit well and seems to be functioning as it should. I have a couple connections to finish and than OPS check. I used this switch instead of looking for a hot brake wire for my brake controller. No one wanted to touch my Jeep to wire the brake controller in as it did not come with a factory hitch and wiring, and that included the dealer! So I added this switch and now there is no need to do anything with the factory wiring! That eliminates the computer on the Jeep from thinking it has a problem from hooking up something extra it was not expecting.

I’m thankful etrailer has the parts I need along with easy to follow videos for installation. However, I was disappointed that although the parts were in stock it took a week before you shipped them out of your warehouse.

by:

The instruction video was the biggest help. Because I’m very visual without that I’m not sure I could’ve done this. It turned out great and I’ve not had any issues in the last year.

by:

Never seem to be disappointed - great service and written instructions with excellent photos. Videos are great also.

by:

Great instructions and videos.

  • Does the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Fit the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited
You definitely want to have a supplemental braking system when flat towing your 2014 Jeep Cherokee and I am happy to report that the Roadmaster InvisiBrake # RM-8700 is a fit for your Jeep! I cannot recommend deviating from the instructions so I do recommend teeing in at the power brake booster line rather than that other location you mentioned. In order for the braking system's alert light to function properly (which let's you know the vehicle brake pedal is actually moving) you will...

  • Is A Stop Light Switch Kit Needed For A 2022 Jeep Cherokee
The brake light switch wire for the 2022 Jeep Cherokee isn't useable so you would need to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751471 in order to get the braking signal. The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751449 you referenced would only be compatible with select Jeep Grand Cherokee's so it wouldn't be a fit for your vehicle. I've attached a short video below where Ryan will walk you through the installation process.

  • Locating Cold Side of Brake Light Switch on 2016 GMC Terrain
If you are unable to locate the correct terminal on your 2016 GMC Terrain's BCM to connect the brake controller red wire to, I recommend testing the brake switch wires beneath the brake pedal with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Test each wire to see if you can find one that receives power only when the brake pedal is depressed. If you are able to locate this wire, this is where you connect the red wire from the controller to. I was not able to verify the wire color on your Terrain, so...

  • Supplemental Braking Recommendation for Flat Towing a 2015 Jeep Cherokee
I did some checking and it looks like your 2015 Jeep Cherokee has vacuum assisted brakes. The most popular supplemental braking system we offer is the Roadmaster Even Brake Part # RM-9400 this system applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. The brake switch wire on your 2015 Cherokee that you will need is a dark green/light green trimmed wire. Look for it on the brake...

The best place to install the module of the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 on your 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is under the seat on the driver's side. I confirmed this with Roadmaster. You will need to connect this to the stop light switch which is a dark green/light green wire. On the other hand, you can use non-permanent kits like the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400, which can be moved between different tow vehicles.
