Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751220

  • Roadmaster
  • Stop Light Switch

Avoid damage to your vehicle by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

Features:

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Ask the Experts about this Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems

  • Is Additional Stoplight Switch Required When Installing Hopkins Brake Buddy
The Hopkins Brake Buddy systems like the Stealth part # HM39530 that we carry come with a stoplight switch for the activation of the system. The brakes of the tow vehicle will have to apply for the system to activate and start activating the brakes of the towed vehicle. There would be no need to also install an additional stoplight switch. If you wanted a monitor to allow you to know when the brakes are being applied you'd then want the part # RM-9530 which gives you a monitor you can...

  • Brake Light Switch For 1976 Winnebago that is Open When Pressed and Closed When Released
I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster and found that the brake switch in the RM-751220 Stop Light Switch Kit is normally closed which means that the brake lights will come on, plunger closes the circuit, when the plunger is released. When the plunger is pushed in it opens the circuit turning the brake lights off.

  • Recommended Parts for Flat Towing 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Behind Motorhome
To flat tow your vehicle, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, a wiring solution so that the truck taillights work in conjunction with those of the tow vehicle, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adapter. For Blue Ox parts starting with the tow bar, I'd go with the Blue Ox Avail, part # BX7420. This tow bar has a 10K capacity like you were looking for, and features non-binding self aligning arms that make hooking up and detaching very easy. The safety...

  • Parts Needed to Safely Flat Tow a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
You will need to check your owners manual or with the Chevrolet dealer to see if your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 can be flat towed. Some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed. If the correct procedure is not followed it will cause severe damage to the transmission. If you will be able to flat tow your vehicle, you will need a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, wiring, and...

  • Items Needed to Flat Tow 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Behind Motorhome
Flat towing a vehicle behind a motorhome, one such as your 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4, does require a number of components, all of which are detailed in the linked overview article on flat towing. I also included articles on braking systems and hitch adapters, both of which are required items. The items include a tow bar, safety cables, a wiring/lighting kit of some type, a wiring umbilical and a braking system and base plates on the dinghy. Roadmaster base plate kit # 3154-3 is a confirmed...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ
Hopefully my dog doesn't eat it. In addition to the tow bar, supplemental braking, and wiring you also need a base plate kit and likely a high-low adapter to tow your 2009 Chevy Silverado. Since you're towing a full size truck you want a tow bar with a higher capacity so I recommend the Roadmaster Blackhawk, part # RM-422. It's rated up to 10,000 pounds. For the safety cables used the coiled # RM-643. The MX Base Plate Kit, part # 3154-3, pairs well with the BlackHawk. The MX...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 Behind a Motor Home
Given that your 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 could easily get over the 5,000 pound limit of the base plates you're refering to I recommend going with a different set. The Roadmaster MX base plates, # 3154-3, are generally considered more heavy duty and are recommended for trucks and SUVs. For a compatible tow bar, you will want a Roadmaster model that slides into the hitch on the RV. For a compatible tow bar that will match the capacity of your hitch and cover the vehicle weight, take a...

For flat towing your 2013 Cadillac Escalade, you will need the following items: base plate kit, tow bar, a set of safety cables, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system. Please check your owners manual and see what procedures that need to be followed for flat towing your Cadillac Escalade EXT. My research indicates that your Escalade has a curb weight less than 6,000 pounds, so your motorhome is rated appropriately for flat towing this vehicle, and this is the weight rating...

  • Recommendations For Parts Needed to Tow 2012 GMC Canyon With Towbar Blackhawk 2 Behind Motorhome
When towing a vehicle with a motorhome there are five components needed: baseplates for the towed vehicle, towbar, safety cables/chains, lighting system, and supplemental braking system. Starting with the baseplate, as long as your 2012 GMC Canyon is not the Z71 or Xtreme model, then RoadMaster XL Base Plate # 3122-1 will fit your truck. If your 2012 Canyon is the Z71 model then RoadMaster XL # 3164-1 is the correct baseplate kit for your truck. Both kits have removable arms and will...

I reviewed the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe owner's manual and it can be flat towed. To flat tow your Tahoe, you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, a braking system, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter. For your 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4, I recommend the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, ItemĀ # 3154-3, because it is designed for your vehicle. It is built with heavy-duty applications in mind. The front arms are easily removable when not in use. The Roadmaster Nighthawk...

  • Recommended Supplemental Braking System to Flat Tow a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche
I prefer a supplemental braking system that installs into your 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche. The Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is the easiest system to use, in my opinion, because after the initial instiall you just flip a switch to set it up when you're ready to tow. You'll also need to install a Stop Light Switch # RM-751220 if the Chevy's brake lights do not illuminate when it's setup to be flat towed. • Best Tow Bar Braking System Recommendation for a 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500
As long as your motorhome has air or air over hydraulic brakes the Roadmaster BrakeMaster # RM-9160 that you referenced would be a great choice for supplemental braking for your 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500. You will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751220 and the Seat Adapter part # RM-88158. • Base Plate Kit and Other Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
With the Roadmaster Sterling, part # RM-576, I recommend the MX kit, part # 3154-3, for a base plate kit that fits your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. The safety cables of the Sterling won't fit with these but you can attach the cables somewhere else on the truck. The wiring kit to power the truck's lights that I suggest is the diode kit, part # RM-15267. It provides a 6-way connector at the front of the truck and a cord to connect the RV's 7-way to that 6-way. For a supplemental braking...
