Roadmaster Tow Bar Base Plate

Designed for use with motor-home-mounted tow bars, the direct-connect brackets are virtually invisible, easy to mount and remove, and they eliminate the need for a quick-disconnect crossbar on your tow bar. Installs on your vehicle's frame.

Features:

  • Direct-connect brackets provide attachment points for your motor-home-mounted tow bar
  • Streamlined design creates supremely clean look
    • No obtrusive quick-disconnect crossbar
    • Hidden brackets sit even farther back than standard brackets
  • Drawbars attach and remove quickly and easily
    • Arms click to lock in place in brackets
    • Built-in pull rings let you unlock arms so you can twist and remove them
  • Computer-cut, all-steel construction provides exceptional strength
  • Black powder coat finish is durable and corrosion resistant
  • Simple installation - no welding required
    • Custom base plates ensure a perfect fit for your vehicle
  • Compatible with Roadmaster motor-home-mounted tow bars only

Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.

The drawbars, or front arms, on this base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove each arm, simply tug the built-in pull pin to disengage the lock, twist the arm back and pull it out of the bracket. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Ford Edge Titanium without Adaptive Cruise Control
The correct Roadmaster base plate kit you need for a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium without active cruise control and a V6 is the part # RM-524454-4 that you referenced. This base plate is perfectly compatible with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar part # RM-520 that you have as well. These two would work great together. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about...

  • Can an AWD 2015 Ford Edge be Flat Towed Behind a Motorhome
I did some research on your 2015 Ford Edge and it looks like as long as you have a V6 engine in your AWD Edge you can flat tow it without any speed or distance restrictions. Ford does recommend starting the car and letting it idle for at least 5 minutes for every 6 hours of flat towing though. You will need to consult the owners manual for full procedures. For a base plate kit you will need the part # RM-524444-5. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar,...

  • Recommended Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Ford Edge Titanium
You can flat tow your 2018 Ford Edge Titanium and there are a number of parts you will need. Since you have a 3.5L and do NOT have the Active Cruise Control the correct base plate kit is the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit # RM-524444-5 because the brackets will be hidden away so your '18 Edge can maintain a clean look. For a compatible tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 because of how easy the tow bar is to connect to the base plates as well as its...

  • Will the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Work With a ReadyBrute Elite Tow Bar
According to my research, the ReadyBrute Elite Tow Bar would have came with clevis connectors to attach to either a Roadmaster or Blue-Ox tow bar. If your tow bar came with the Roadmaster clevis connectors (857768004296) then they will attach directly to the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit part # RM-524444-5 which is a fit for your 2016 Ford Edge. However, if your tow bar came with the Blue-Ox clevis connectors (857768004265) then you will need to use the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style...

  • Procedure and Equipment Needed to Flat Tow 2015 Ford Edge SEL Behind Motorhome
According to what I've read in the owner's manual, your Edge can indeed be flat towed if the specific procedures listed in the manual are followed precisely. To flat tow your Edge, hook up to the motorhome then press and hold the brake to the floor. Start the vehicle and shift into Neutral with the brake pedal still pressed then turn off the vehicle. On a keyless start equipped vehicle, push the keyless start button one to shut off. If the vehicle has an ignition key, turn the vehicle...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Ford Edge Sport 2.7 Ecoboost
We have flat towing parts that will allow your 2017 Ford Edge Sport to be flat towed. If you have the active cruise control you'd need the base plate kit # RM-524448-4 or if you do not have it you'd need # RM-524444-5 and you'd be set. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The...

This is the best option for your 2017 Ford Edge 3.5L V6 - without Adaptive Cruise Control because it has the removable arms and will connect easily to the Falcon tow bars. • Will There be an Issue with Steering when Flat Towing a 2016 Ford Edge
I looked up an online version of the owner's manual for your 2016 Ford Edge and it didn't say anything about a concern with the steering. I recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual and then, if you still have questions, a Ford dealer who would know more details about that end of the flat towing process. For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If...

  • Transmission and Ignition Instructions for Flat Towing 2017 Ford Edge
I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2017 Ford Edge. Please note that only the 6-Speed, automatic transmission 6F50/6F55 model of your Ford Edge can be flat towed with all 4 wheels on the ground. If your Ford Edge has an ignition key (not a keyless start), you will start the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal and then turning the ignition key until the vehicle starts. • Can a 2018 Ford Edge Be Flat Towed and What Parts Are Needed
Most 2018 Ford Edge models can be flat towed, but the 2.0 liter EcoBoost I-4 and the 2.3 liter EcoBoost I-4 engines cannot be flat towed and can only be trailer towed. All the V6 models can be flat towed and there are procedures for this outlined in your owners manual. For the towable versions, I recommend starting with custom fit base plates # RM-524444-5 and then using the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522. For safety cables use # RM-643 and you may want...

  • Recommended Flat Towing Equipment For A 2016 Ford Edge
To know if your vehicle is capable of flat towing you'll have to read your owner's manual. There are very specific instructions to follow if it is flat towable to ensure the safety of your vehicle. From what I can find in the online owner's manual "You can tow your 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.5L (6F50 or 6F55) equipped vehicle with all four wheels on the ground" but none other are listed so I recommend reaching out to Ford. • Comparing The Roadmaster EZ4 And Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plates For 2017 Ford Edge
Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-524454-4 is a very similar system to the EZ5 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-524444-5 which are both a confirmed fit for 2015-2017 Ford Edge SE and SEL models. The difference is the EZ5 has the streamlined design that removes the need for the quick-disconnect crossbar. This baseplate will not work with the Sterling Cables, so the cables need to be attached to the frame of the vehicle. The EZ5 although much cleaner and more hidden...

  • Parts Necessary to Flat Tow a 2017 Ford Edge
According to the owner's manual of your 2017 Ford Edge the vehicle can be flat towed with a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, though are a number of parts you will need in order to do this, starting with compatible base plates. The ones you need will depend on the model of your Edge; I recommend the Blue Ox # BX2667 if you have either the SE, SEL or Titanium model of Edge. If you have a Sport model, the base plates you need are going to depend on whether or not you have Active Cruise Control. Roadmaster...
