  I have included a couple of pictures that show the differences between a double tube bumper and a U-channel bumper. A double tube bumper really is 2 round tubes while a U-Channel is U-shaped (more of a C-shape or a U turned on its side). In the case of base plates you could use # 1424-1 because it will fit U-Channel or double tube bumpers.   You can use the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit, # 1417-1, with a Blue Ox tow bar, but you will need to use the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter, # RM-032.
