When you’re logging serious miles behind your RV, you want a setup that stays strong and tracks straight. This Blue Ox Base Plate Kit bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required—and uses a sturdy design that spreads towing force evenly to help prevent stress on the suspension. The durable steel is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion through all kinds of weather and road grime, so it’s ready for trip after trip without worry.
If you like your vehicle to look neat when unhitched, this design makes it happen. The hidden reinforcements leave only the attachment tabs visible when you’re not flat towing, keeping the front end tidy and free from bulky brackets. With a bracket spacing of 24" and a bracket height of 22", it sits right where you need it for a balanced, low-profile setup.
This kit is built for straightforward installation, perfect for those who like tackling projects themselves. The base plate bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis using the included mounting hardware—no welding required. Once mounted, it pairs cleanly with Blue Ox tow bars for a solid connection every time you hook up.
If you’ve already got a favorite tow bar, you can keep using it. The setup is adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars when paired with adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). That flexibility makes it easy to integrate into your existing gear without starting from scratch.
With its heavy-duty build and proven design, this base plate kit gives you confidence every time you hit the road. It’s backed by a 3-year warranty, so you know it’s built with durability and reliability at its core—exactly what you want when your plans call for thousands of miles of towing ahead.

Glad the install went smoothly, Grant! Even with those weird handle nuts (which I agree are kind of odd). What's the first trip you have planned? And I will let Alex know what you said as well! : )

it still looks nice and working as it should. i made it also double as a base to bolt up my winch. the bonus thing is when i need to tow it i can undo 4 bolts and take my winch off. i think you guys at e-trailer should consider making something like this as a option. i have pictures of it installed but how do i send them to you?

Thanks for your review, Richard! It sounds like this was a fairly involved installation, but we're glad to hear everything came together successfully in the end. We appreciate you sharing the details of your process, especially the tips about the tight frame rail clearance and drilling challenges, as those insights may help other RV owners tackling the same project. Thanks for including the photo as well. Your finished installation looks great! Now that it's installed and you're moving on to the diode kit and brake away switch, what adventure are you looking forward to most this summer in your RV?
